"Since it is my company, I get to decide what is best for it. If you so badly want your son to be a successor, try building or raising a company yourself, and pass it to an incapable person. If you can do it, then I can."
Zhang Renshu said out loud. Although he would hate for a female to be his successor, he wouldn't hesitate for Liling to take over if Mingyu doesn't prove himself worthy.
"Honey!" Shi Wenqian called out while reflectively standing to her feet. She was so blinded by anger that she couldn't hold her temper.
"Stop calling !" Zhang Renshu said as he got to his feet and stared furiously at her. "If Mingyu doesn't prove himself worthy, there is no need to be sentintal about it because this is business!"
Zhang Reanshu walked away after that.
He didn't see any reason for supporting soone who was not up to the task.
As soon as he left, Mingyu asked with a wide eye. "Mum, what does he an by that? I thought I'm the one getting the company no matter what?"
Mingyu was equally surprised that his father would suddenly change his mind about what was verbally given to him.
Shi Wenqian tried to calm down and think before Mingyu interrupted her. She glared at him and said bitterly, "Did you hear your father? If you don't prove yourself worthy, don't even think about trying to be his successor."
"So, are you going to let him do what he said?" Mingyu asked angrily. He was not about to let what belonged to him be given to others.
"If you don't take things seriously, I won't be able to help you. Until you get hungry for power and show how thirsty you are, I won't help you. Now, you can go to bed!"
As much as Shi Wenqian wanted her son to inherit the Zhang Group and be its next leader as soon as Zhang Renshu steps down and fully ventures into politics, she wouldn't let her son do that if he doesn't show her so qualities.
Unlike her, he was not power hungry and only wanted to have the Zhang Group because as the only son of Zhang Renshu who would not let a woman rule his empire, he felt entitled to it.
Now, she wanted him to not just be entitled to it, but to be power-hungry and act like a real businessman. She wanted him to be worthy and unparallel with no other contestant.
It seems like it was ti to stop pampering him and let him see what the world truly was. Only those with power can rule, and the most powerful, is always on top of the food chain.
"Mum!" Zhang Mingyu flared up, refusing to give up, but he got scolded.
Shi Wenqian shut him up and asked him to go to his bedroom to reflect. Zhang Mingyu could only obey her as he had no choice, but the anger on his face was very visible, just what his mother wanted.
Initially, at the hospital, Shi Wenqian had wanted her son to take things easy since he was going to be Zhang Group's successor anyway, but with Zhang Renshu's promise fluctuating, she has no choice but to take extre asures.
Zhang Xiaoling glanced at her plate and felt she has had enough of her food. Putting down her cutlery, she wiped her lips with a napkin and got up from her seat,
"Good night," She said to her mother before turning to leave.
Shi Wenqian glanced at her back and said while standing to her feet, "Xiaoling, I have an important question to ask you, co with ."
Zhang Xiaoling released a deep breath before following her out. She had thought they would go to her (Shi Wenqian) bedroom, but instead, she led the way to hers.
(Shi Wenqian and Zhang Renshu had separate bedrooms, but sotis the forr would go to the latter's bedroom to spend the night with him).
Shutting the door behind them, Zhang Xiaoling went to sit at the foot of her bed, while Shi Wenqian went to sit on the single couch opposite her bed.
"I want to ask you, how did you find out about my private blood bank, and how much do you know about it?"
Zhang Xiaoling wasn't surprised at that question because the mont she let her mother know that she had an idea about her private matters, she would be restless and would want to know more details.
Smiling, she replied, "I guessed because you seed to be a little obsessed when it ca to taking Zhang Liling's blood."
Zhang Xiaoling was telling the truth. She found out about her mother's sches and guessed so because surely, she wouldn't be going through all that trouble just to throw the blood away after that.
Her mother was soone who doesn't do things without a reason, and that alone made her know that she wasn't as simple as she looked. There has to be more to her actions, hence her big guess.
Shi Wenqian frowned at her choice of words but decided not to pursue it. Even Zhang Xiaoling regretted speaking that way because she didn't want to bring any attention to herself as she had her own plans.
"Since you know about this, would you like to join the business? You will get to have so many connections with different calibers of people." Shi Wenqian proposed.
Since she knew about this and as her daughter, there was no need to silence her, so she tried to rope her in.
Zhang Xiaoling smiled and shook her head. She was not going into any blood business, that was not where her interest lay. "No thank you, I'm only going to focus on the company."
Shi Wenqian didn't like her response and imdiately reminded her of who the company belonged to.
"I know you are goal-driven, but it will be good if you don't get attached to the company and start to have ideas about ownership because it belongs to your brother."
Zhang Xiaoling didn't hide her annoyance as a frown slowly appeared on her face. She can't count how many tis her mother has reminded her of who Zhang Group belongs to, and it was starting to prick her heart.
