Mrs. Thompson noticed Maeve Lane had yet to sit down, so she pushed the chair again, causing a heavy sound on the luxurious carpet.

She kindly said, "Young Madam, please co over."

The man’s mood seed to drop further; even though Maeve Lane was separated from him by a table, she could still feel a chilly vibe.

Since he saw she wasn’t happy, why did he stay?

Years ago, she couldn’t understand Julian Fairchild, and now, she still finds this man unpredictable.

Maeve Lane lowered her gaze and pulled out the nearest chair to herself, "No need, I’ll sit here."

Breakfast was nutritious and plentiful. Maeve Lane gave it a cursory glance before picking up a piece of fried egg and quietly chewing.

Since she’d started eating, Mrs. Thompson could only awkwardly push the chair back, "Then, Young Master... Young Madam, take your ti."

With that, she left to tend to other matters.

Both Julian Fairchild and she preferred quiet, and with more people there’d be more chatter, so the villa didn’t have many servants.

Maeve Lane ate slowly and soon finished.

Yet, what puzzled her was the man across from her had finished eating but was still sitting in place.

His handso eyebrows slightly furrowed, his sculpted features were exquisite and profound, slightly leaning against the chair back, as if in deep thought.

A while passed.

"I’m done," she said, lifting her gaze, "You take your ti."

"Hold on."

Julian Fairchild turned his gaze to her, his voice cold, "Is there nothing you want to ask ?"

Caught off guard by his words, Maeve Lane hesitated for a mont but quickly replied, "No."

Julian Fairchild’s handso face darkened slightly as he gave her a deep look before leaving the table.

Instinctively, Maeve Lane frowned, and when she turned back, she could only see Julian Fairchild’s silhouette.

...

Julian Fairchild sat in the car, his grip on the steering wheel tightening.

He could keep her, even confine her, but everything he had done over the past two years repeatedly proved one thing—

Maeve Lane doesn’t love him.

...

Veridia Studios.

The film set for "Rivers and Mountains as Usual" was already crowded.

Nurous dia mbers had caught wind and stationed themselves here, eager to obtain firsthand information.

The film hadn’t even started shooting, yet online discussions were already fierce. With Marcus Dayne and Julian Fairchild combining forces, there was naturally no issue; the main problem lay with Maeve Lane, who was cast as the female lead.

Today marked the official start of filming.

Sarah Sutton had already arranged for Maeve Lane’s belongings to be moved into the hotel.

"This ti we might be here for quite a while," Sarah Sutton comnted, sounding like she was complaining but wearing a happy expression, "Director Dayne is very stringent about the actors’ skills; so scenes he’ll ask the actors to redo over and over until they et his standards."

"Hmm." Maeve Lane closed her eyes, feigning sleep.

Sarah Sutton continued, "The estimated shooting ti is three months. I’ll visit when I have ti, and I’ve assigned an assistant for you. If you have any issues, you can talk to her first."

"...Maeve."

Upon hearing the voice, Maeve Lane opened her eyes lazily to glance at the girl sitting in the passenger seat.

She had a sowhat youthful student haircut and looked a bit shy.

Sarah Sutton introduced Maeve Lane, "This is Nina Quinn, my junior apprentice; my ntor asked to take her along for an internship. She’s in her third year of college, and since I’ve been a bit busy lately, I thought she could follow you."

Afraid Maeve Lane might overthink, Sarah Sutton added, "It’s better for you to keep a low profile now, so I won’t be around all the ti. Just let know if anything cos up."

In the industry, Sarah Sutton had a formidable reputation, so shadowing Maeve Lane did indeed co with so pressure.
