Henry Hughes didn’t utter a word, but the lack of surprise on his face still provoked Julian Fairchild.

The man glared at him, gritting his teeth as he repeated, "Is she with you now?"

Henry laughed, "Why don’t you ask Maeve Lane yourself?"

After speaking, he continued, "Oh, I almost forgot, she probably doesn’t want to see you now."

Julian’s blood boiled, and he stepped forward to grab Henry’s collar forcefully, "What did you say to her?!"

"Why is she suddenly acting like this towards ?!"

Henry hadn’t been in a great mood either, during this ti. He wouldn’t tell Julian that Maeve didn’t want to see him because she beca emotionally unstable whenever she did. Henry felt jealous and envious. Just when he thought Maeve had no feelings for Julian, reality hit him hard.

She still had emotional reactions to Julian, but when facing him, there was no response at all.

But friends, he never lacked.

He snatched his collar back from Julian’s grasp, and with a breezy and indifferent tone, said, "Don’t you want to know why?"

Julian squinted his eyes.

"You’re right; she is indeed with now."

The mont those words dropped, Julian’s jaw tightened. Even though he had ntally prepared for it, hearing Henry’s admission still brought excruciating pain.

"So, please keep your distance from my girlfriend." Henry stood up, gazing at Julian’s seemingly confused expression, and felt a slight sense of satisfaction in his heart, "Who can you bla? Who told you not to cherish things properly."

Julian couldn’t hear any other sounds now. He had no idea how long it would take for him to grasp the aning of those words.

He didn’t even have the courage to go and confirm it with Maeve.

Seeing her with soone else, he was afraid of doing sothing irreparable.

...

The location for the Finance 1 class’s professional course was at Aurelia University’s third teaching building.

Maeve absent-mindedly stared at Julian’s avatar on her phone, lost in thought.

There were still unsent ssages in the chat box.

She wasn’t a girl who hesitated for long over one thing, and she didn’t have difficulty making choices, but this ti she truly understood what it ant to be conflicted.

Maeve lowered her lashes slightly and typed with a curved finger: [I’ve been a bit busy lately]

After a pause of a second, she continued typing: [Let’s not et for now.]

If Julian were a bit calr now, he might have noticed the concession Maeve was hiding in that ssage.

But he clearly wasn’t in that kind of rational state right now.

Seeing the ssage notification box, the man imdiately sat up from the bed and quickly clicked on the conversation with Maeve.

After he had sent her dozens of ssages, Maeve finally replied.

Julian took a glance and felt his mood steadily plumt.

After several tens of seconds of silence, he got out of bed, took the pink shirt that Miles Hughes had delivered last ti out of his suitcase.

He chose that bright pink color without hesitation, then shaved his stubble in front of the mirror and styled his hair simply.

The man in the mirror was exceptionally handso; eyes like polished ink, features deep-set, with a trace of aloofness between his brows. Even this casually grood style was strikingly eye-catching.

Julian glanced at himself in the mirror, unusually feeling a touch of insecurity.

But soon, he laughed self-deprecatingly.

"You’re already soone else’s girlfriend..."

...

Henry caught a glimpse of Maeve’s phone from the corner of his eye, his smile stiffened a bit, but his voice remained unchanged, "Class is over, where should we go for lunch later?"

Maeve put away her phone, "Anywhere is fine."

"Then let’s go to the first cafeteria, it’s close."

"Okay."

Coming down from the teaching building, there was a patch of empty lawn on the first floor, furnished with several tables and black parasols.

A few classmates were quietly reading there.

The lawn was planted with real grass, so there was often a fresh scent of grass when passing by.

Maeve turned a corner, preparing to head to the cafeteria from the back door, but her peripheral vision seed to catch a familiar figure.

She suddenly stopped in her tracks.

Henry saw Maeve’s unusual behavior and asked, "What’s wrong?"

The girl didn’t answer his question, but rather took a few steps forward to get a clearer view.

But the familiar figure in the distance soon vanished, disappearing around the corner.

Maeve couldn’t quite articulate what she felt in her heart.

That person, it seed like Julian.

With that thought, her advancing steps ca to a halt again.

Even if it was Julian, what was the point of chasing after him?

Why was there this sense of guilt? There was even a mont when Maeve wanted to call out to the departing figure.
