Rai was a poor child. He had been thrown off a cliff at a young age, leaving his face disfigured.

It would take at least seven painful surgeries to restore his appearance.

Chantelle felt distressed just thinking about it.

The person who threw him off the cliff had no conscience.

"Since I'm injured, I won't visit him for now. Take care of him for over the next few days."

"Don't worry, Boss! I'll make sure everything is handled!" Russell said, patting his chest confidently.

Chantelle was completely drained. She didn't even bother changing her clothes. Leaning back on the sofa, she quickly drifted off to sleep.

She was still groggy when she woke up and saw a figure nearby.

Her head felt heavy, maybe because she was too exhausted.

She noticed soone standing a few steps away but struggled to open her eyes. Her eyelids were so heavy that she couldn't fully wake up.

It wasn't until she heard that cold, familiar voice that she beca more aware.

"Chantelle? Chantelle! I know you're awake. Stop pretending. Get up!"

She felt soone shaking her, but her head throbbed so badly that she couldn't keep her eyes open.

She wanted to tell the person to stop shaking her. The motion made her feel like throwing up.

She thought she opened her mouth, but no sound ca out.

The voice in her ear was faint, almost distant.

She could hear soone yelling and questioning her. The voice was familiar.

It sounded like Daniel!

Daniel?

Was she having another nightmare?

How could she possibly imagine that devil of a jerk being here?

Her thoughts were scattered, and her headache was getting worse.

In her foggy head, she thought she saw Daniel's face clearly.

It looked like he was carrying her in his arms.

For a mont, there was a hint of worry on his perfectly sculpted face...

Yes, it had to be a dream. Otherwise, why would Daniel be worried about her?

She continued her wishful thinking in that dream.

Maybe it was only fair for her to be tornted this way.

Chantelle felt she deserved the pain and resentnt.

Then, everything faded to black.

Daniel's eyes darkened as he stared at Chantelle, burning with fever and losing consciousness. He carried her out of Western Hill Villa. Reaching the car, he carefully placed her inside.

"Drive to Philip's place."

Daniel arrived ten minutes ago to look for Chantelle, but he saw her lying on the sofa with a high fever, completely unresponsive.

He still had questions for her. He couldn't just let her burn up like this.

"Yes, sir!"

Ashton was in the driver's seat. When he saw Daniel carrying Chantelle out of the villa, countless questions filled his mind, but he didn't dare to ask him.

Philip sat at his workbench in the ΜΕ Biotechnology Laboratory on the eighty-seventh floor of the Silver Crest Global District. Sleep was the last thing on his mind.

He had just finished running a DNA comparison for Daniel overnight and reached an undeniable conclusion.

The results confird a parent-child relationship between the two samples Daniel had provided.

At first, he didn't care much about the outco. But when he gave the result to Daniel, Daniel was completely stunned.

That reaction instantly sparked Philip's curiosity.

Whose hair samples did Daniel bring for testing?

What was the connection between these two people and him?

Philip's curiosity kept him wide awake—he couldn't sleep at all!

Philip couldn't figure it out, no matter how hard he tried.

As he debated whether to risk asking Daniel, footsteps approached.

Before he could get up, the door swung open.

Daniel entered, carrying an unconscious Chantelle.

Philip's jaw dropped at the sight. "Daniel, what's going on?"

"She has a fever. Check on her now."

Daniel walked into the lab and gently laid Chantelle on the examination bed.

"She has a fever?"

Philip, being a doctor, put his curiosity aside and quickly followed Daniel.

After checking her condition, he found that Chantelle had a high fever due to an infection in a wound on her arm.

The wound needed to be sterilized and treated imdiately.

Daniel watched as Philip removed the gauze. His eyes landed on the bloody wound.

Suddenly, a flicker of fire flashed in his eyes. "Does that look like a burn to you?" he asked.

Philip examined it while cleaning the wound. "It does. The impact must have been strong enough to reach the bone," he replied.

Daniel stayed silent as he listened to Philip's explanation, but his heart pounded.

A burn injury with severe trauma...

That ant Chantelle had been in the car that crashed into the Wilson residence before it exploded on Clearwater Lane!

Why had she gone there?

Was she trying to see their child?

Maybe she had gone there to see him.

The thought alone made him feel like he was losing his mind.

It was even more unbelievable than when Philip showed him the DNA test results.

After disinfecting and rebandaging Chantelle's wound, Philip gave her an anti-inflammatory drip. He let out a sigh of relief before leaving the laboratory.

Daniel sat on the sofa in the living room outside the laboratory. His mind drifted away—sothing that rarely happened to him.

Daniel was so deep in thought that he didn't notice Philip approaching.

"Daniel, since when did you get so close to Chantelle? Why didn't I know about this? I texted her the day before yesterday to invite her to dinner, but she ignored . Now I see why—you were the one getting in my way. What's the deal? Moved on to a new woman after learning the truth about Kate?"

"You want to ask her out?"

"Of course! She's stunning—exactly my type!" Philip didn't bother hiding his interest.

"No!"

"Why not? Daniel, don't tell you like her."

"She's Chantelle." Daniel's tone was firm and heavy.

"I know. I added her on Instagram that day at the hospital entrance..."

"As I said, she's Chantelle!" Daniel suddenly repeated his words in a cold tone.

Philip's careless smile vanished. His eyes stared at Daniel.

"Daniel... are you saying..."

Philip finally understood. Daniel wasn't reacting to the na—this woman was the Chantelle from before.

The one and only Chantelle Bently.

"Yes. My ex-wife is still alive."

"Damn it! I knew she looked familiar, but I never thought she was Chantelle Bently!" Philip nearly shouted in shock.
