After seeing the doctor out, Chantelle walked back into the room and heard Lone Wolf say, "Keep an eye on . I’m going to take a nap."
She let out a sigh and sat beside him. Noticing he still had his sunglasses on, she reached out and took them off, only to find his eyes wide open.
"What are you doing? Aren’t you supposed to be sleeping? Who sleeps with their eyes open?"
She was startled and felt a bit embarrassed. Her expression showed she wasn’t amused.
But Lone Wolf was too tired to joke around. The mont he closed his eyes, he fell asleep.
Chantelle waved her hand in front of his face, but he suddenly grabbed her wrist and placed it on his chest.
She tried to pull away, but when she saw the pain on his face, she gave up.
The next morning, Chantelle woke up in a panic. She realized she was in the room next to where Lone Wolf had been treated.
She rushed to check his room, but he was gone.
On the dressing table, there was a note: Pretty lady, I’ll see you again. There’s a little surprise for you, don’t forget to check it out.
Chantelle frowned. What surprise was he talking about?
She had a bad feeling it wasn’t anything good.
As she looked around the room, her phone suddenly rang.
It was Daniel.
Chantelle was instantly overwheld with guilt as she rembered taking the kids and knocking Daniel out.
Could he already be in Carcosa?
Chantelle’s mind was spinning with questions, but when she picked up the call, she was surprised to hear Daniel speaking gently.
"Tell where you are. I’ll send soone to get you."
If he said that, then he wasn’t in Carcosa yet.
She silently let out a breath of relief and lowered her guard. "I’ll co back with the kids soon. Don’t worry."
"The kids always listen. Why would I be worried about them?" Daniel’s tone was a little sharp, even though he was trying to sound calm.
"If you’re not worried about them, then what are you worried about?"
"What do you think? You’re the one who always goes against ! I told you to stay away from Lone Wolf. Did you forget that?"
When Daniel saw the photo of Lone Wolf with Chantelle asleep beside him, his anger nearly exploded.
When Daniel first saw the photo, he thought Lone Wolf had taken Chantelle. He could barely breathe.
Now that she had answered his call, he felt a bit of relief. If she hadn’t, he would’ve gone straight to Carcosa and ripped Lone Wolf apart.
Lone Wolf had wanted to kiss Chantelle while taking the photo, but when he thought about how furious Daniel would be, he quickly dropped the idea.
It wasn’t the right ti for that, pretty lady.
Chantelle had a strange feeling. She hadn’t told anyone, not even the kids, that she was the one who saved Lone Wolf. The only person who knew was the doctor from yesterday. So how did Daniel find out?
It had to be Lone Wolf. He must’ve told him directly.
Chantelle opened her ssaging app, and the photo of her with Lone Wolf popped up on the screen.
That bastard! He must’ve done this to get back at for thinking about selling him out yesterday.
"Do you want to co back on your own, or should I send soone to get you?" Daniel gave her two options.
Chantelle didn’t take the offer. "I’ll co back once I’m done with what I have to do."
"Chantelle!"
She didn’t want to listen to him yelling, so she ended the call.
Soon after, another call ca, but this ti, it was from Kane.
"Mommy, soone tried to get into our room, but we managed to lock him out!" Kane said to Chantelle, sounding proud of himself.
Chantelle’s heart sank. She was afraid it was the gunman who had chased Lone Wolf through the streets. She jumped in the car and rushed back to the villa.
"Kane, take Rai and Steph to your secret base. Don’t open the door until I get there."
"I’ll make sure the mission is a success!" Kane replied confidently, then pulled Railer and Stephanie into their hideout.
The three of them looked at each other and grinned. They were all excited.
Railer was watching everything through the surveillance caras. "Will that thing even work?" he asked.
Kane patted his chest proudly. "Of course it will! Steph and I built it ourselves. We’re going to win this ti for sure!"
Railer looked to Stephanie for confirmation. She just shrugged. "If we can’t handle sothing this small, how are we supposed to survive here?"
"Then let’s start," Railer said, unable to hold back his excitent.
He slamd the red button, and the whole villa shifted into its first level of defense. Bulletproof shields started covering all the windows and entrances.
Railer watched everything unfold and felt like he was inside a sci-fi movie. His excitent kept growing.
Suddenly, he saw two n trying to climb over the outer wall to get into the compound.
He quickly moved the monitor controls, and a row of sharp blades shot out from the wall. The two n were hit and dropped to the ground.
"Soone’s here!" Railer shouted as the red alarm started flashing. He was getting nervous.
Stephanie took a sip of her milk and said calmly, "I let them co. It wouldn’t be as fun if they all got stopped outside."
"But..."
"Don’t worry," Kane said, trying to comfort Railer. "There are infrared sensors all over the house. If they try to go any deeper, they’ll be sliced to pieces."
Only then did Railer finally breathe a little easier.
The two n Stephanie had let into the villa ended up being their plaything. The kids led them around like puppets. In the end, the n were exhausted and started begging for forgiveness.
An hour later, Chantelle arrived back at the villa. The security system recognized her and allowed her to enter safely without triggering any traps.
"Mommy, don’t worry, we protected Rai really well!" Kane was the first to run out and greet her, clearly hoping for so praise.
Chantelle smiled, stroked his hair, then quickly checked Railer to make sure he wasn’t hurt.
Noticing the three of them still looked like they were eager for more action, she gently pinched Kane’s cheek and asked, "Did you three do sothing naughty?"
"Mommy, they attacked us first. We were just defending ourselves," Stephanie said sweetly, trying to grab her attention.
