Chantelle gave Stephanie a quick look, signaling her to call Rihan.

Stephanie nodded and dialed his number right away.

Kane and Stephanie stood silently beside Elia, so the police assud they were with her. They weren’t taken away.

"Get away from . Why are you standing so close?" Elia scolded them like a guard blocking the door.

"Auntie Elia, do you want to go ho with us?" Kane asked, gently poking her shoulder.

"Shut the hell up. I don’t want to talk to you!" she shouted, furious.

She tried to steer her wheelchair into the ward to get away from them, but it wouldn’t move. No matter what button she pressed, it stayed still. Even when she tried to push the wheels herself, nothing worked.

"Auntie Elia, if you let us in, we’ll fix your wheelchair," Stephanie said with a big grin as she walked over after her phone call.

Elia wore a cold expression. Her eyes were sharp and fierce, giving off an intimidating presence. But Kane and Stephanie didn’t look scared at all.

"You ssed with my wheelchair, didn’t you?" Elia asked, knowing how smart they were.

"Auntie Elia, I forgot to introduce you to our big brother. His na is Railer. Don’t we look alike?" Stephanie said cheerfully. "Actually, he looks more like our daddy."

She pushed Railer toward Elia with a big, bright smile on her face.

Elia’s eyes widened in surprise. "Your daddy? You found him?"

Kane nodded excitedly. "Yes, we did! He’s really handso, more handso than our godfather. And he’s going to give us another sister with Mommy!"

A rush of emotions swept over Elia. She should’ve felt happy that her son might finally be free from Chantelle’s curse, that his life might no longer be dragged down by her.

But deep inside, she felt anxious. What would her son think when he found out?

Maybe he’d bla her for how things turned out. If she hadn’t pushed Chantelle and the kids away, they wouldn’t have gone looking for her ex-husband in the first place.

Just then, a nurse opened the door and called out, "Attention, family of the patient in ward 36. The patient just woke up. We’re going in to check his vitals."

Elia’s mind went blank after hearing the nurse. All she felt was joy and shock.

"This is great! Our godfather is awake!" Kane said as he pushed Elia’s wheelchair toward the door. They watched as the nurse rolled Xander out on the bed.

"Auntie Elia, why is our godfather so skinny now?" Stephanie asked, staring at Xander. She could barely recognize him.

Back in Carcosa, he still looked normal. But now, he looked like a completely different person.

He was way too thin.

Elia lowered her head, feeling embarrassed. She didn’t want to admit that Xander’s condition had worsened after they left Carcosa. The doctor had worked hard just to keep him stable.

She would never say out loud that only Chantelle could bring him peace. Only Chantelle could make him want to live and recover.

Elia had even felt that he was close to waking up.

She had been telling Xander over and over again that Chantelle was going to marry soone else. Every ti she described Chantelle being happy with another man, Xander’s finger would twitch slightly.

Elia told the doctor about it, and he checked on Xander imdiately. The doctor said that Xander could wake up at any mont. Then, he told her to keep telling him stories. It might help trigger his will to live.

After that, Elia kept telling him that if he stayed like a vegetable, Chantelle would really end up as soone else’s wife.

Now that he was finally awake, Chantelle really was going to marry another man. How would he take it?

Elia felt torn. Part of her feared her son wouldn’t be able to handle the truth that he couldn’t be with Chantelle anymore. But another part of her still believed Chantelle would only bring more trouble into his life.

That’s why she was desperate to keep them apart. She even prayed he’d forget Chantelle completely after waking up.

What she didn’t know was that Xander had already woken up once. During that brief mont, he had checked his phone and saw the photos of Daniel that Chantelle had sent him.

He forced himself to calm down and sent Chantelle a ssage. That was all he could manage before falling unconscious again.

"Good thing our godfather’s awake now," Stephanie said as she pushed Elia into the ward. "If he kept losing weight, it would’ve taken forever for him to look like he used to. He used to be so handso."

The nurse told them she would bring Xander back soon, so they didn’t follow her.

"I used to think that if I talked to him every day, maybe he’d wake up. He used to get so annoyed with ," Stephanie giggled. "So I figured if I annoyed him more, it might help. But look, he woke up on his own. He’s amazing!"

When Railer heard Kane and Stephanie talking so fondly about their godfather, he felt trouble creeping into his heart.

He knew he had to take them back to Easthan as soon as possible.

"Auntie Elia, do you think he’s hungry now?" Stephanie asked while holding Elia’s arm. "I rember he really loves sausages."

Elia suddenly felt a wave of déjà vu, like she’d been taken back to the days when she still got along with Chantelle and the kids. Back then, she had really wanted to accept them. Those were happy tis.

"Kane, do you want so sausages too?" Elia asked gently.

Kane paused for a mont, then looked over at Stephanie.

Stephanie kept holding Elia’s arm. "Auntie Elia, we want our godfather to eat sausages."

Elia nodded. "He must be craving them right now. I’ll go get so for him."

She tried to stand up, forgetting her legs were injured. Her wheelchair wobbled, and she almost tipped over.

"She seems sick," Stephanie said, gently fixing Elia’s clothes. "Kane, call Rihan and ask her to buy so sausages for us."

That was when she noticed the wheelchair had several seatbelts. If Stephanie buckled them all, Elia would be held securely in place.

Suddenly, Stephanie was stunned. Auntie Elia wasn’t ntally unstable, was it really necessary to strap her like that?

"Your godfather just woke up from being in a coma," Railer said, trying to stop Kane from making the call. "He can’t eat solid food yet."
