Kate was about to leave, grinning from ear to ear, when Daniel entered the boutique.
Her eyes lit up with surprise. She quickly approached him, wanting to hug him, but stopped when she saw the cold, sharp look in his eyes.
Instead, she hesitantly tugged at his sleeve and asked softly. "Daniel, are you here to take ho?"
Daniel's scowl deepened. He couldn't believe it.
Kate was the culprit.
"Why are you here?" he asked in a low, dangerous voice.
Kate blushed. "I ca to pick out a wedding dress for our engagent."
Daniel clenched his jaw, showing a deep irritation. "Did you see anyone else co in?"
Kate shook her head. "No. I'm a VIP here, so I'm the only custor during my session. Since you're here, why don't you try on the suit I ordered for you?"
Daniel ignored her. He turned to Ashton. "Check the CCTV footage."
Ashton nodded and walked over to speak with the boutique staff.
Kate frowned. "Is sothing wrong?"
Daniel glared at her. "The CCTV at the cetery has been restored. Allen Morris was the one who kidnapped Rai."
"Allen?" Kate's eyes widened in shock. "He's my loyal assistant! He would never do sothing like this!"
"I'm sure he's loyal to you," Daniel said, staring at her fiercely. "That also ans he would do anything to serve your best interests. That includes getting Rai out of your life. Am I wrong?"
Kate's face turned pale. She had spent years with Daniel, yet at that mont, she realized he had never really known her.
"Are you accusing of trying to hurt Rai?" she snapped at him in a trembling voice filled with rage. "He's my nephew! I love him like my own! How could you doubt ?"
Daniel's patience was wearing thin. "Where were you two hours ago?"
"I was ho," Kate said, frustrated. "I woke up late today."
"Don't lie to ," Daniel warned her coldly.
Kate stared at him in disbelief. "Of course not! I have never lied to you, and I never will. Don't you trust , Daniel?"
Before he could respond, Ashton entered, holding a shopping bag. "Sir, I checked the CCTV footage. No one visited the shop before Ms. Kate." He paused, then held up the bag. "But we found our tracking device in one of Ms. Kate's shopping bags."
Kate's eyes widened in shock. "What are you talking about? What tracking device?"
Ashton pulled a leather jacket from the bag, then carefully took out a small tracking device hidden inside.
Kate's face was drained with color. "No! That's not mine! Why would I have a tracking device with ?"
"A woman pushed Allen off the balcony of his apartnt two hours ago," Daniel said, suspicion filling his eyes as he stared at her. "She was wearing this leather jacket when I found her, so I placed a tracking device in her pocket." His voice turned sharp. "Guess where it led us?"
Kate's blood ran cold. "What? Allen is dead?"
This wasn't part of the plan. She had intended to fra Allen for Railer's kidnapping, but now, with him dead and a tracking device found in her possession, she knew what this ant—she was the pri suspect.
Kate began to panic. Thoughts collided in her head, each more frantic than the last. Wait... this feels familiar. This is exactly how I frad Chantelle years ago!
But she hadn't pushed Allen. So, who did it? Who's trying to fra ?
A cold sweat broke out on her skin. Her hands trembled slightly, but she forced herself to stay calm.
She couldn't let this ruin her. She had to marry Daniel.
Nothing could get in her way.
Trying to control her fear, she gasped dramatically. "Why would she kill Allen?" she asked, her voice shaking. "Is she coming to kill too? Daniel, I'm so scared!"
Daniel said nothing. He only stared at her, watching as she desperately tried to look afraid.
"Could she be the mysterious woman at the cetery?" Kate asked, shifting the bla away from herself. "She must have bribed Allen to do those horrible things!"
Daniel narrowed his eyes. He still suspected Kate, but there was no solid proof.
The mysterious woman was also a possible suspect. He needed to investigate these things deeply.
"I will dig deeper into this sudden ss," he said firmly. "If you're involved in any way, now is the ti to tell before I find out the truth."
Kate's eyes filled with tears. "I swear to God, I didn't kill Allen!" she cried. "You have to believe , Daniel!"
Daniel hesitated. A part of him wanted to believe her.
She didn't seem like soone who could harm anyone. But every clue he had found pointed to her.
For now, Kate was the pri suspect, not the mysterious woman.
Daniel shook his head, pushing away his doubts. He couldn't trust anyone until he uncovered the truth.
It was only a matter of ti before everything was revealed.
"Take Ms. Kate ho," he instructed Ashton.
Kate's eyes widened. "I'm so scared, Daniel! Can you stay with today?"
"Not today," he refused instantly. "I have things to handle. You should go back to the Bently residence."
Before she could argue, Daniel turned around and got into his car.
Kate let out a frustrated sigh and headed ho alone. She didn't want Ashton to see how anxious she was.
She needed to deal with Allen's death and make sure Daniel found nothing that led back to her.
She wouldn't let this ruin her plans. She would get what she wanted.
Outside Glamour Grove Boutique, Chantelle watched everything unfold on her screen.
Her jaw clenched. How could Daniel just let Kate go?
She had seen the evidence with her own eyes, yet he still chose to believe Kate.
Was it love that blinded him?
Disappointnt filled in her chest.
She thought about how differently he treated her compared to Kate.
He's so unfair!
Her fists clenched as pain and anger twisted inside her.
The air around her felt heavy. It was as if she couldn't breathe.
"Ms. Chantelle, are you okay?" Calvin asked, noticing her tension. He gently patted her back to calm her down.
Chantelle suddenly realized she was on the verge of a panic attack.
She closed her eyes and took slow, deep breaths. Gradually, she cald herself.
She had escaped death five years ago, but ever since then, panic attacks have haunted her.
Whenever her emotions beca too overwhelming, she would feel like she was suffocating—losing control of herself.
She felt another panic attack coming, but Calvin's presence helped her. She was grateful he was there to support her.
He handed her a water bottle.
She took it and drank quickly.
