Daniel didn’t care why Philip was there. He was still annoyed that Chantelle had accepted Philip’s Instagram follow request.
Frowning, he checked his phone and hit the follow request button again.
From where he stood, he saw Chantelle’s phone light up. He ducked behind the vegetable baskets and watched her carefully.
She glanced at her screen but didn’t accept the request.
What’s wrong with her? Didn’t she see it? Is she ignoring on purpose?
Not ready to give up, he pressed the request button again.
His face sank when he saw Chantelle ignore her phone, even though the notification sound was clear.
"What are you doing, Daniel? Did you hear what they were saying? They’ve almost finished two plates of crayfish! It looks so good. I wish I could have a bite..." Philip complained.
"Stop whining. I’ll get you so, later," Daniel replied without looking up. His eyes were still fixed on his phone.
Just then, the owner of the vegetable stall ca back from the restroom. He saw the two n crouching and staring at the won eating.
"What are you two doing? Spying on won in broad daylight? You’ve got so nerve!" He scolded them.
Then, he grabbed them by the shoulders when he saw them leaving.
Daniel was about to argue back, but Philip whispered quickly, "Calm down! Chantie’s still there!"
Then Philip turned to the owner and said softly, "This is a misunderstanding. We’re not bad people. The pretty lady over there is his wife. They’re just having a fight..."
But the stall owner didn’t buy it. "Hah! These days, the fancier people dress, the more shaless they act."
"That’s not true! You can’t just say stuff like that!" Philip shot back, unable to tolerate the wrong accusation against them.
Daniel’s face darkened as he shouted sharply, "Let go!"
The owner sneered at him. "So, you’re finally showing your true self? Don’t bla for calling you out!"
Daniel stared at him sharply. "What do you want?"
But what happened next wasn’t what he expected.
The owner pulled both of them toward Chantelle and Thea. "Excuse , ladies. Do you know these two n?"
An awkward silence filled the air instantly.
Daniel kept a straight face, but his eyes showed panic.
Oh no. She caught spying on her. What do I do now?
"What a coincidence, Chantie! Haha... haha..." Philip said awkwardly, avoiding Thea’s eyes. He chose to greet Chantelle instead, hoping she’d be more forgiving.
After all, Daniel was the one seen as the cheater, not him. But things didn’t go the way he hoped.
Thea stood up and glared at him. "Philip Collins! How dare you stalk us!"
Daniel’s mood worsened when he saw Chantelle completely ignore him. He hesitated for a mont, then chose a gentler tone.
"I sent you a follow request on Instagram, my dearest wife. Please don’t forget to accept it."
He didn’t bother making excuses anymore since he’d already been caught. Besides, the store owner had already dragged them over to Chantelle and Thea.
And Chantelle was the one who had every reason to be upset.
Chantelle said nothing. She soberly switched her phone to do not disturb mode.
The middle-aged man looked at them, confused. "Wait... you all know each other?"
Based on how they were talking, they didn’t seem like strangers.
Philip quickly pulled the man back to his stall and whispered, "Didn’t I tell you they’re a couple just having a fight? It’s best not to get involved."
The man rolled his eyes. "I don’t get what young people are thinking these days. Why not just talk it out instead of sneaking around? I thought you two were up to sothing shady!"
"We’re really sorry for the trouble. It’s all our fault. We won’t bother you again," Philip said quickly, then rushed away from the stall. He dragged Daniel with him and shalessly sat down at the table with the ladies.
"The crayfish looks great! Want to peel one for you?" he asked Thea, trying to act sweet.
Thea looked at him, clearly disgusted. "Stop ssing around. There isn’t enough food for all of us. Let’s go order more."
"But there’s still so much left! Can I just have a bite?" Philip protested.
"No! Don’t even think about it!" Thea threatened him and dragged him away.
That left only Daniel and Chantelle at the table. Daniel peeled a crayfish and placed it in her bowl.
"It was all a misunderstanding with Camille," he said softly. "Chantelle, can you please stop being mad at ?"
"You’ve got it wrong, Mr. Wilson," she replied without looking into his eyes. "We’re not even together. Why would I be angry?"
She didn’t touch the crayfish he gave her.
"We were still sharing the sa bed this morning, my dearest wife. Did you forget that already?" Daniel said, looking at her with disbelief.
Chantelle shrieked after hearing what he said, "What the hell are you talking, Daniel Wilson? Have you no sha?"
"I’m telling the truth!" he argued. "You slept on my bed. You even wore my clothes! And yet you believed that woman’s lies so quickly. You even changed the passcode to the house! I didn’t do anything wrong!"
Seeing that she was finally reacting, Daniel gently tugged at her sleeve and tried his best to look pitiful.
"Why are you blaming , Daniel Wilson? I never told you to flirt with other won. You’re unbelievable!" Chantelle retorted.
"It’s not my fault won fall for a man like . But none of them matter. I only care about my wife," he said with a cheeky grin.
"You..." Chantelle almost laughed at how full of himself he was.
Noticing her reaction, Daniel continued, "You smiled, my wife. That ans you’re not mad anymore, right? So, can you accept my Instagram request now?"
"No way!" Chantelle shot back, glaring at him.
"Why not?" he asked.
Chantelle hissed, "Not everything needs an explanation."
Daniel gave up trying to argue. He knew he could never win against Chantelle. Still, he didn’t mind. He had already accepted her odd ways and loved her for it. So, he stayed quiet and went on peeling the crayfish for her.
Chantelle didn’t stop him as she saw it as his way of making up for what he did wrong.
"Can you co ho with later, my wife? I’m feeling a bit dizzy," Daniel tried to persuade her.
"Tsk. I barely touched the crayfish. And you’re already trying to ask for a favor? You’re not even trying to earn my forgiveness," she said with a cold smirk.
"I think I’m having an allergy," Daniel suddenly said.
