Chantelle hadn’t seen Calvin since what happened at the ntal hospital and after eting Lone Wolf. So, she called him right away.
Kane had said Calvin sent a ssage to tell her he was safe, but Chantelle wanted to hear it for herself.
When Calvin answered, Chantelle stood and walked to the balcony.
"Ms. Chantelle, I’m sorry," Calvin said. "I didn’t look into it properly. I put you in danger."
"What happened while you were in the hospital?"
"I went up to the second floor and saw no patients. Mr. Jacot and the two nurses were gone too. I felt sothing was wrong. Just as I was about to tell you, soone knocked out. When I woke up, I was already in a nearby hospital. Mr. Wilson’s people brought there."
"Are you injured?" Chantelle asked subconsciously after hearing what Calvin said.
"Just a small injury. It’s nothing. Ms. Chantelle, I’m at Northern Suburbs Hospital now. But I noticed sothing strange. This hospital is only two kiloters from Blue Sky ntal Hospital. If soone turned the ntal hospital into a battlefield, the staff might have moved the patients here. That ans..."
"You’re saying Kate might have been transferred to Northern Suburbs Hospital?" Chantelle asked as her voice was filled with sudden hope.
What a clever move!
"That’s right. I’ll stay here tonight to keep investigating. Just wait for my good news."
"Okay. Be careful. If you need help, call Thirteen."
After the call ended, Chantelle hung up and her face turned cold.
In Easthan, besides Daniel, who else could destroy a hospital and plan sothing this big? She sat silently and analyze everything.
Soon, a na ca to her mind. It was clear now. So things couldn’t be avoided forever.
While she was lost in thought, the sll of pancakes drifted in from the kitchen.
She opened the balcony door and stepped back inside.
From a distance, she saw Daniel, sleeves rolled up, placing a pancake onto a plate. His movents were smooth and graceful.
Daniel subconsciously looked up as if he could feel soone watching him. When he saw Chantelle, he gave her a warm smile.
"Chantelle, co over."

At Skeynia, inside an old rose-covered castle’s grounds thick vines twisted around the entire building. At night, the lights behind the vines glowed like eerie eyes staring from the dark.
Below the castle, worn stone steps led deep underground. The lower the floor, the darker and damper it beca.
At that mont, in the deepest part of the underground, Ruby lay on a rusty iron bed inside a small, dim room.
The doctor had said her bones were badly broken. Without proper care, she wouldn’t survive more than three days.
Ruby stared at the red ceiling with her mind filled with fear and hopelessness.
When she heard the iron chains rattle at the door, she turned her head in panic.
She looked at the man entering and quickly begged in a shaky voice, "Help ... save ... please..."
Joseph slowly entered with a cane. He still looked refined, but there was sothing cold and dangerous in his eyes.
"Save you?" he said calmly. "That’s easy. But give one good reason."
"I never told Daniel what happened back then. I didn’t betray you. I swear!"
"Keeping silent was the only reason you were allowed to live," Joseph said coldly. "Now that Daniel has learned sothing from you... keeping you alive may no longer be useful."
"No, wait! I have hatred too. We share the sa enemy. I think we can still work together," Ruby said quickly, trying to save herself.
Joseph looked at her with disdain. "That might make sense. But I don’t need a cripple woman as a partner."
He shook his head and turned to leave.
Ruby panicked when she saw him walking away. Desperate, she blurted out the secret she had kept for years.
"I know who took the Wilson family’s secrets back then!"
After hearing Ruby’s words, Joseph turned around. His pale, calm face darkened.
"So, you knew the secrets you sent were fake, but you said nothing! You caused my dad to fail!" Joseph sharply retorted. "Ruby Bently, how dare you!"
Joseph pulled out a sharp knife hidden in his cane and pressed it against Ruby’s neck. A thin cut appeared on her skin.
Ruby was terrified. She imdiately scread, "Don’t kill ! I-I didn’t know the secrets were fake back then. I only realized it later. But by that ti, your dad had already moved abroad. I was too scared to say anything..."
Joseph didn’t move the knife right away. Seeing this, Ruby quickly kept talking. She looked hurt as if she was the one wronged.
"You think I’ll believe you?" Joseph said with a cold smile. He didn’t fall for her act.
"Believe it or not, I was always loyal to your dad!" Ruby said firmly. Her voice shook, but her words sounded sincere.
"Fine. If you tell who was behind everything back then, I’ll think about pulling you out of hell. I suggest you tell the truth. After all, hell isn’t a fun place, right?"
"I’ve kept all the clues I found in the bank. If you save , I’ll give them to you. I promise there’s sothing in there you’ll want," Ruby said quickly.
"Hmm, smart move," Joseph replied. He waved his hand, signaling his n to co in.
"Sorry for being rude. I’m close to death. I just want to live," Ruby said politely.
"Send her to the research center," Joseph told Fred.
"Yes," Fred nodded and ordered his n to take Ruby away.
After they left, Fred spoke again.
"Sir, this woman is full of lies. Why do you trust her?"
"At least she said one thing right. We can work together when we share the sa enemy," Joseph replied. "She has hatred. Sooner or later, she’ll be useful."
He picked up his cane and walked out of the iron cell.
"But what happened back then might involve both Ruby and Kate. We still don’t know if Ruby is an enemy or a partner," Fred said, clearly worried. He didn’t want Joseph to fall for her lies.
"Are you questioning ?" Joseph asked in a cold voice.
"I wouldn’t dare," Fred replied. "I just think that back then..."
"About what happened back then, Dad will decide. He told to keep Ruby and Kate alive. He still needs them. So, save them for now. We’ll talk about the rest later."
"Yes," Fred said, quickly falling silent when he noticed Joseph was getting irritated.
