"Yeah, but even if it was Chantelle’s fault, please don’t be too harsh on her. She has a son with you," Ruby said, trying to sound sincere.
That’s right. Bla everything on Chantelle, and he’ll believe !
"It seems Mrs. Bently feels no guilt for what you’ve done. In that case, don’t bla for what happens next," Daniel didn’t want to hear another word from Ruby. He looked at Ashton and gave him a silent command.
"Huh? What do you an?" Ruby asked, confused.
Why didn’t Daniel believe ? This trick always works before.
Before she could say more, the bodyguards behind her pulled out baseball bats and struck her right leg.
"Ah!"
With a loud crack, Ruby scread in pain.
She collapsed to the ground, staring at Daniel in shock.
"What are you doing? I’m Chantelle’s mother! Even if she’s angry at , you can’t treat like this!" Ruby groaned.
The pain in her leg was so intense that her lips trembled.
"Mother? Are you sure you ever treated her like a daughter?" Daniel said, finding Ruby’s excuses ridiculous.
"I’ve always treated her like my daughter. I raised her since she was a little child. If she knew how you treated , she’d be furious," Ruby said, trying to defend herself.
"Shut up! If you were really her mother, she wouldn’t have suffered so much as a child. You blad her for everything Kate did," Daniel shot back sharply.
"What? How do you know that? No one knows what happened in our family!" Ruby gasped, stunned.
"I’ll ask you one last ti. Who told you to steal the Wilson family’s confidential files and kill my grandpa?" Daniel took two steps forward and stared her down.
"What? What did you just say?" Ruby stuttered, eyes wide. She lowered her head and tried to avoid his eyes.
Ruby’s leg hurt badly. Each ti she moved, a sharp pain shot through her body. In the end, she stopped trying.
At that mont, the bodyguards stepped forward and lifted her up. They forced her to look straight ahead.
"You don’t understand ? Fine. I’ll make it clear," Daniel said. "I know Kate killed my grandpa, and you helped her. Your plan was to fra Chantelle so Kate could marry . Stealing Wilson’s family files didn’t help either of you. So who told you to do it? If you’re honest, I might let you go."
The bodyguards yanked Ruby’s hair so hard it felt like her scalp would tear off. But what scared her more was the look in Daniel’s eyes.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about! We didn’t kill Old Mr. Wilson or steal anything! No one told us to do it. You’ve got the wrong person!" Ruby shouted in panic.
Ruby refused to admit anything. She knew the consequences of killing Wesley and stealing from the Wilson family were too much to bear.
Just like Daniel, the man behind it all was powerful. If she betrayed him, she could lose her life.
She had no choice but to deny everything. Maybe there was still a chance to live.
"Mrs. Bently, you’re not stupid. But if you stay silent, you’re asking for death," Daniel said coldly.
"What... what are you going to do to ? I’m warning you, killing soone is against the law!" Ruby cried out, feeling completely helpless as she saw the cold, deadly look in Daniel’s eyes.
The more deadly Daniel looked like, the more terrified she beca.
She knew Daniel was dangerous. Ruthless.
"You don’t need to warn . I know killing is against the law. But do you know what happens when soone takes a life? They have to pay for it," Daniel chuckled.
"What? Don’t you dare co any closer!" Ruby shouted in fear.
Right after Daniel spoke, one of the bodyguards raised his bat.
With a loud crack, he struck Ruby’s right arm and broke it.
Then they let go of her. Ruby collapsed to the ground. Her face hit the floor hard, and blood started to drip.
The pain was unbearable. Ruby scread hardly.
"How... how dare you try to kill ?" Ruby cried out in fear while stamring.
Daniel leaned down and looked at her. He gave a chilling smile.
"You should’ve expected this after killing my grandpa and trying to murder Chantelle," he snapped coldly. "Throw her aside. Don’t let her stain Grandpa’s grave."
He then stood up, turned around, and walked away without looking back.
Ruby watched Daniel walk away and her heart was full of despair. She tried to crawl, but the bodyguards grabbed her and dragged her toward the edge of the cliff—where Railer had been thrown before.
"No, please don’t do this! Ashton, tell them to stop!" she cried.
The cliff was high and dangerous. She knew she wouldn’t survive if she fell.
"Mrs. Bently, this is the sa spot where you and Kate pushed Railer. I’m just letting you feel what he felt," Ashton said.
"You work for the Wilson family. You don’t have to go this far. Please—I’ll pay you. Just let live. Tell what you want."
Faced with death, Ruby had no other choice but to beg for her life.
Ashton wasn’t the kind of person who could be bribed.
Ruby’s screams echoed through the mountains.
Still, Ashton felt a heaviness in his chest.
Railer must have been terrified when Kate and Ruby pushed him. He was so young then.
Ashton couldn’t imagine how scared he must’ve been. The thought made his chest ache.
Chantelle, on the other hand, was relieved when Roman’s livestream was cut. She put her phone down and went to make lunch for the kids.
So much had happened lately, and she hadn’t cooked in a while.
Just as Chantelle walked to the kitchen, her phone rang. It was Calvin.
"Ms. Chantelle, the spy who followed Jas just sent an update. Jas said Ruby got a call from Kate asking for help. Ruby then asked Jas to look into it."
"So Kate is still alive? Do you have the number she used?"
"Yes. She made the call from Blue Sky ntal Hospital, up north in Easthan."
"Blue Sky ntal Hospital?"
Now that was interesting!
No wonder no one could find Kate. She had been hiding in a ntal hospital all along.
Maybe soone placed her there on purpose.
"Co pick up. Let’s go check it out."
"Got it, Ms. Chantelle. I’ll be there soon."
