Wrapping an arm around Kane, he took the mug of milk from Philip.
Philip frowned. "Daniel... right now, you shouldn't—"
"I'm fine, Philip," Daniel cut him off.
"Okay, okay. Just stay here. I'll go downstairs to get you so dicine!" Philip still looked worried. He hesitated for a mont before finally stepping into the elevator.
Kane lay in Daniel's arms, feeling safe and warm.
But that sense of comfort didn't last.
"Rai, you know that Auntie Chantelle is your Mommy, don't you?"
"I..." Kane was stunned after hearing his father's question.
How was he supposed to answer that? Should he say yes or no? He had no idea how much Daniel actually knew, so he stayed silent, hoping to use it to his advantage.
Daniel gently smiled. "Daddy's very happy that your Mommy is still alive."
Daniel gently ran his fingers through his son's hair, cradling him into his arms affectionately.
Kane's beat so fast at his father's words. "Really? Are you happy, Daddy?" He looked up at Daniel, eyes filled with excitent.
"Of course," Daniel said with a calm smile. A family should always be together.
Kane's mind spun with thoughts.
Daddy still cared about Mommy. But if he really did, why had he treated her so badly? Was this what people ant when they said a man always returns ho after wandering?
Kane didn't know what to do.
Lately, Daddy seed to be changing for the better. But he had been awful in the past. Did he really want to help Mommy and start over? The thought left him torn.
Daniel looked down at the boy in his arms with a thoughtful expression. A glint of sothing passed through his eyes before he took out his phone and opened Instagram.
"Rai, why don't you add as a friend?" he asked casually.
"Huh? But, Daddy, you never use Instagram," Kane said, blinking in surprise at his father's profile.
His own account was under the na Kane The Handsost Dude. If he added Daddy, his secret would be out in no ti.
"I use it now," Daniel said smoothly. "What's wrong? Don't you want to be friends with Daddy?" His voice carried a hint of disappointnt, making Kane squirm even more.
Daniel might be a tough CEO, but when he put on that sad puppy look, it was impossible to say no.
"N-no, that's not it, Daddy... Here, I'll add you," Kane muttered in defeat. He pulled out his phone and sent the request.
Daniel raised an eyebrow. "Kane? Is this your new nickna?"
"Umm... yes! That's right! Do you like it, Daddy?" Kane asked, relieved that his father had unknowingly saved him from making up an excuse.
"I do. It sounds nice and cute," Daniel said with a nod of approval. His own Instagram handle was simply Daniel Wilson—straightforward and no-nonsense.
After adding Daniel, Kane excused himself to wash his hands but quickly pulled out his phone in the bathroom. With a proud grin, he opened his private chat with Chantelle and typed, "Mommy dearest, Daddy says my na is cute!"

After leaving the warehouse with the $100,000 he had extorted from Kate, Steve headed straight to a nightclub.
The large sum of money imdiately drew the attention of five hostesses, who eagerly kept him company all night—both at the club and in the hotel room he had booked.
Back when he was on the philanthropic committee, he at least had so inco.
Now that he was unemployed, his expenses kept piling up, but there was no money coming in. He could barely afford a drink, let alone entertain hostesses.
Tonight, though, he had figured out a way around that—illegal or not. He deserved to enjoy himself.
The hostesses stayed with him until 8 a.m. By the ti he finally woke up in the ssy hotel room, he saw a ssage from Tony waiting on his phone.
By now, the video of Steve humiliating Kate had spread all over social dia.
He clicked on it and burst into laughter, thoroughly enjoying the scene. Tony had done a great job with the cara, capturing an angle that made Steve look impressive.
While he was amused, he noticed Tony's voice ssage. Assuming it was a congratulatory ssage, he played it with a smug grin.
However, as he listened, his expression changed. By the ti it ended, he was wide awake and his stomach twisted in panic.
"Crap! That damned Tony got into deep shit!" Steve growled, scrambling out of bed. In his rush, he nearly tripped as he grabbed his clothes from the floor and threw them on haphazardly. He didn't even bother with his shoes as he bolted for the door.
But the mont he stepped outside, a heavy kick sent him crashing back inside.
"Who the hell are you?!" Steve thrashed as he landed hard on the floor. He felt pain in his chest as he clutched it and was ready to curse again at the intruder. But when he finally looked up, his anger turned to fear.
"Mr. Wright?! What are you doing here so early?" He shrank back and his bravado disappeared in an instant.
Steve scrambled to his feet, forcing a servile smile as he bowed his head.
"No need to rush, Mr. Walter," Ashton said coldly. "Mr. Wilson sent to ask where Kate Bently is."
"Huh? How would I know where Ms. Bently is?" Steve feigned innocence as he kept his head low. "I think you've got the wrong person, Mr. Wright."
By now, Kate was probably dead. Even if he wanted to, he couldn't hand her over to Daniel.
If he played dumb convincingly enough, Ashton wouldn't dare touch him—after all, he was just an employee.
Ashton smirked. "It seems you've been too busy with... other matters to rember. Don't worry. I'll help refresh your mory."
At his signal, a bodyguard stepped forward and held up a phone. The screen lit up, playing the very video Steve had laughed at just monts ago.
Then, the bodyguard swiftly grabbed Steve, forcing his eyes open and shoving the phone in his face as the video played.
Steve cried out in pain from the rough treatnt. "I rember! I do!" he pleaded. "I... I played a cruel prank on her, but after that, I left! I swear, I don't know where Kate is now!" He collapsed to the ground, clutching his face. His eyes throbbed so badly it felt like they might pop out.
"You don't know?" Ashton said coldly. "It seems your mory isn't working too well, Mr. Walter. Looks like we'll have to help you rember." He turned to his n. "Let's not waste ti. Take him."
"Yes, sir!"
