She is our biological mother, yet she treats us with icy detachnt. On the other hand, she behaves towards him as if he were her own son."
Long Yubei embraced her tightly. He hadn’t expected that her biological mother, both in the mortal world and in her original form, would be the sa in this regard.
"Why does she treat you this way? Is there a reason?"
"She and the Heavenly King’s father were truly in love but were separated and she was married off to my father. The Heavenly King’s father also married soone else. In my mory, my parents’ relationship was always poor, frequently arguing—often over trivial matters my mother would instigate while my father was mostly forbearing. Yet she persisted in nagging him. Long Yubei asked, "How did your father die?"

Later, upon learning that the Heavenly King’s father divorced his wife and remarried my mother, even abdicating and leading a reclusive and carefree life with her, Jun Li lowered her voice, "Yu and I have always deeply suspected that it was he who killed our father. "Did your mother not take care of you and your sibling at the ti?"
