Su Mu was terrified, her mind a complete blank at this mont, not knowing what to do.

After receiving the call from Wei Shaoqin, she drove to the film crew and seed to see Fu Shinian and Qin Nianwan walking arm in arm from a distance; she controlled herself not to look or think about it, wanting only to pick up Wei Shaoqin and leave this place quickly, and also praying that Fu Shinian wouldn’t notice her.

It was only when she saw Wei Shaoqin trying to slow down and stop that she realized the brakes had failed, and she couldn’t make the moving car stop at all.

At that mont, she thought of death.

Surrounded by crew mbers who were wrapping up and moving equipnt, she could only keep honking the horn to alert people to get out of the way so she wouldn’t hit anyone; she struggled to calm herself down because only by staying calm could she minimize the harm, and only by staying calm could she avoid injuring innocent people.

Wei Shaoqin watched the car steadily approaching him, ready to seize the right mont to dive through the open window on the passenger side to help Su Mu stop the car, but before he could act, a dark figure flashed past before his eyes, sprinting towards the out-of-control car.

The next second, he had elegantly slid through the window; Wei Shaoqin saw the car finally straighten its course after a stretch of S-shaped maneuvering and his heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally settled back into place.

Inside the car, Su Mu had not expected Fu Shinian to jump in so suddenly; already on edge, her last straw was finally broken, and she scread, confusing the brake for the accelerator; the car roared forward, and just as it was about to hit the prop van, a pair of strong hands reached over and viciously turned the steering wheel, narrowly avoiding a collision.

"Stay calm!"

Even in such a tense and dangerous situation, Fu Shinian’s voice remained steady, with a comforting power, and Su Mu relaxed as she watched his sharply contoured profile, and the car finally began to straighten and drive in a line.

"You shouldn’t have co up."

Fu Shinian couldn’t be bothered with her and said:

"You take the wheel and just keep going straight, try not to hit anyone, understand?"

Su Mu quickly got her emotions in check and nodded:

"Okay."

Fu Shinian let go of the steering wheel, glanced at the gear, shifted down a gear, then felt the car didn’t slow down as expected, so he shifted down another gear, but the car maintained its speed.

Fu Shinian didn’t dwell on the gears any longer; since shifting down didn’t work, and the handbrake wasn’t an option either, he quickly scoped out the road ahead and said:

"Su Mu, do you trust ?"

Su Mu suddenly had a bad feeling, but she wasn’t scared at all, her gaze firm on the road ahead, gripping the steering wheel tightly: "I trust you."

Fu Shinian smiled and then reached out to vigorously rub the top of Su Mu’s head, saying:

"Don’t worry, you won’t die."

After speaking, he turned to take control of the steering wheel, and Su Mu leaned back into her chair to give him space, then saw Fu Shinian suddenly turn the steering wheel, guiding the car towards the green belt on the side.

Just as Su Mu thought Fu Shinian would drive straight into the green belt, he turned the wheel again, and the next second she heard a harsh friction sound; the friction between the wheels and the green belt gradually slowed down the car.

"It’s slowing down..." Su Mu had yet to finish his sentence when a child suddenly darted out from the greenbelt ahead. Reacting instinctively, Su Mu shouted, "Careful—"

Fu Shinian also noticed the unexpected appearance. The car, which could have co to a smooth stop, was forced to make a hard 90-degree turn. Consequently, with no way to avoid it, the vehicle crashed into the other side’s greenbelt, getting wedged between the phoenix trees, and finally ca to a complete stop.

There was a mont of silence inside the car. Fu Shinian’s vision plunged into darkness; he couldn’t see anything. He had intended to wait for Su Mu to regain her composure and slowly release him. However, after probably a minute had passed and she still hadn’t let go, Fu Shinian had to speak up:

"Holding this tightly, do you want to take right here?"

Su Mu didn’t know how to describe her feelings at that mont. She had never experienced death and wasn’t afraid of dying, but when the car was coming straight at them, she felt scared. She was afraid that Fu Shinian would die with her, so at the last mont, she held him tightly in her arms, protecting him.

Upon hearing his words, Su Mu slowly opened her eyes and, after confirming she wasn’t dead, gradually let go of Fu Shinian.

Fu Shinian sat up from her embrace. He was about to make a few sarcastic remarks but, seeing her face streaked with tears, sitting rigidly like a soul drained of life, as white as paper, he swallowed back his words and stepped out of the car without saying anything.

As his feet hit the ground, Fu Shinian felt so pain in his knees, likely due to the impact, but he didn’t pay it any mind. He walked around the wrecked car to the driver’s side, opened the door, and bent down to unfasten Su Mu’s seat belt:

"Get out of the car."

Su Mu’s gaze slowly fell on Fu Shinian’s face, noting that his hair and clothes were just disheveled and there were no signs of injury. Despite this, her heart, gripped with fear, was reluctant to settle. She said:

"You shouldn’t have co."

Fu Shinian looked at her, his gaze intense:

"Su Mu, what are you afraid of? Afraid that I’d die..."

Before Fu Shinian could finish his sentence, Su Mu hooked his neck, pulled him toward herself, and kissed him, pushing back all the unspoken words he was about to say. She didn’t want to hear him say such things. She didn’t want him to die, nor did she want him to get hurt for her. She only wished for him to stay alive.

For Fu Shinian, the kiss was quite bold—after all, they were outside, not at Bishui Yuntian, and it was also the first ti Su Mu had kissed him of her own accord. He couldn’t deny he thoroughly enjoyed it, but the mont hardly seed appropriate.

He pushed her away:

"If you want it, I’ll give it to you tonight. Now, get out of the car."

Su Mu realized how bold her action had been, her face turned slightly red, but she still obeyed Fu Shinian’s words and got out of the car. Yet, she didn’t anticipate feeling so weak that she couldn’t stand on her own; had it not been for Fu Shinian catching her in ti, she would have fallen to the ground.

Fu Shinian looked at Su Mu, the softie, with silent disdain, and rcilessly mocked:

"Such spirit!"

Though his tone was dissatisfied, he bent down and picked her up. Su Mu wrapped her arms around his neck, eliciting a chuckle from Fu Shinian:

"If you’re acting, at least make it convincing. Don’t let find out it’s all an act."
