Jiang Bei had seen Wei Shaoqin before. It was the day Su Mu first disappeared and again when Su Mu was drugged. He had brought Su Mu to the hospital. Although he didn’t know the exact relationship between Su Mu and Wei Shaoqin, based on these two incidents alone, Jiang Bei had a favorable impression of him. Seeing that Wei Shaoqin had sothing to say to Su Mu, he decided not to interrupt and took Wen Shaoyuan’s hand:

"Let’s go, Shaoyuan. I’ll take you inside first."

Wen Shaoyuan obediently followed Jiang Bei, but he couldn’t help looking back at Su Mu worriedly.

The man earlier had an unconventional charm, lacking the manliness of a father. Could it be that Sister Su is being deceived by him?

Watching Jiang Bei and Wen Shaoyuan walk away, Su Mu then turned to Wei Shaoqin:

"Can you watch what you say?"

"What? The child doesn’t know his own origins, or are you just his stepmother?"

Su Mu furrowed her brows:

"If you continue talking like this, I can’t communicate with you."

After speaking, Su Mu attempted to bypass him to find Jiang Bei, but he suddenly grabbed her wrist and dragged her into the nearest private room. Su Mu didn’t expect him to do this, and by the ti she thought to resist, it was too late. Fortunately, there were people in the room; otherwise, she would have really needed to scream for help.

The woman sitting at the dining table stood up:

"Wei Shao, is this lady also a guest you invited?"

Wei Shaoqin didn’t even glance at her: "Get out."

"Wei Shao..."

"I don’t want to repeat myself."

The woman understood Wei Shaoqin’s temper. Seeing he was not joking in the slightest, even though she was reluctant, she still grabbed her bag and left.

Soon only Wei Shaoqin and Su Mu were left in the private room. He released her, pulled up a chair, and sat at the doorway, legs crossed, taking out a lighter and cigarette from his pocket to light up, his posture that of a typical rogue.

Unable to leave, Su Mu forced herself to calm down:

"What do you want?"

"You haven’t answered my earlier question. Is that child really yours?"

Su Mu looked at him and didn’t respond. She indeed could tell the truth, but if claiming the boy as her own son would help her get rid of the trouble Wei Shaoqin posed completely, she wouldn’t mind telling a well-intentioned lie. However, before she made up her mind, Wei Shaoqin scoffed:

"I originally thought you were with Fu Shinian just for money, but now there’s even a child involved. What? Do you want to be Mrs. Fu?"

Worried he might actually investigate her relationship with Fu Shinian, Su Mu told the truth:

"As I said, my relationship with Fu Shinian isn’t what you think. Also, the child isn’t mine. He is just a student I tutor and has no relation to ."

Wei Shaoqin narrowed his eyes slightly: "Is that so?"

"Believe it or not," Su Mu looked at him. "Can I go now?"

Wei Shaoqin didn’t move, his gaze intently fixed on Su Mu’s face, as if trying to discern sothing else. Later, perhaps feeling that Su Mu had no reason to lie to him, he smiled slightly:

"It doesn’t matter whether he is yours or not, I don’t care if a woman has children when I want her."

Su Mu frowned, this man really had no moral bottom line.

"I brought you here not only to ask about the child but also to remind you of sothing else."

"What is it?"

"The last ti you were drugged, I saved you."

Su Mu looked at him. She didn’t deny that upon knowing Wei Shaoqin had taken her to the hospital, she had indeed considered thanking him properly. However, this thought vanished after she regained her sensibility because Su Mu could not forget the things he had done to her before.

"Do you expect to thank you?"

"Shouldn’t I? Do you know how much self-control it took not to deal with you that day? Asking for a simple thanks isn’t too much, is it?"

"But Wei Shaoqin should also rember how he attacked initially and how he forced out of a job. You hurt , but you also saved . I think at this point, we can call it even and go back to square one, pretending we don’t know each other when we et in the future."

Wei Shaoqin seed to hear a funny joke, chuckled lightly, stood up from his chair, and walked step by step towards Su Mu, looking her in the eye:

"If I had known you were this heartless, I should have taken you when I had the chance!"

Su Mu also slightly smiled:

"Opportunities co only once. Since Wei Shaoqin gave it up, it ans we’re not fated to be in this lifeti. I hope you’ll see that clearly and not obsess over it."

"Has no one told you that I’m the kind who won’t turn back until I hit the south wall?"

Su Mu shook her head: "No one."

Wei Shaoqin: "...No matter what you say, it’s a fact that I saved you. It’s only natural for you to thank ."

Su Mu closed her eyes and decided to take a step back:

"Okay, thank you for saving last ti. Is that fine?"

"Just like that?"

"Wei Shaoqin, don’t push your luck!"

Wei Shaoqin didn’t waste any more words with her, directly grabbed her bag, and swiftly pulled out her wallet:

"Dine here tomorrow night if you want your wallet back."

After saying that, he didn’t give Su Mu a chance to retort and turned to leave the private room.

When Su Mu returned to where Jiang Bei was, the dishes were all served.

"I ordered because you didn’t co back after a while, and I chose all your favorites." Jiang Bei said with a smile, "I love you that much, don’t I?"

Su Mu took a seat:

"Yeah, I love you the most too."

"So, who was that guy just now?"

Su Mu: "..."

"I saw him briefly when he brought you to the hospital before, but I didn’t get a chance to talk. What’s the relationship between you two? Bumping into you in that state, I always felt like I could sll an affair."

Su Mu glanced at Wen Shaoyuan: "There are kids present."

Wen Shaoyuan, focused on eating, still made his stance clear:

"You can pretend I’m not here."

Jiang Bei raised an eyebrow, feeling that Wen Shaoyuan was becoming more adept, but Su Mu still felt it wasn’t right to discuss her complicated history with Wei Shaoqin in front of a child, so she chose to remain silent.

Near the end of the lunch, Su Mu received a call from Wen Han, who had just returned from the military service, but didn’t find Wen Shaoyuan at ho, thus he called to ask their whereabouts.

Su Mu felt sorry, knowing she was Wen Shaoyuan’s tutor, yet she had taken him out shopping without permission:

"Sorry, Shaoyuan and I are out right now. Don’t worry, I will bring him back imdiately."

Jiang Bei picked up on the situation: "My brother, huh?"

Su Mu nodded, and the next second, Jiang Bei snatched Su Mu’s phone: "Brother, it’s Xiaobei. I pulled Su Mu out for so shopping. You rarely have a day off, want to join us... Alright, we’ll wait for you."
