Talking about the marriage certificate, Su Mu froze for a mont, then thought about how, if Qiqi hadn’t gone missing, they should have already remarried by now. But because of Qiqi’s situation, they still didn’t have a legally recognized relationship. Su Mu had always felt indifferent about it, but Fu Shinian presumably cared.

She smiled faintly:

"When I co back, we’ll get the certificate."

Fu Shinian also smiled:

"Really?"

"Really." Su Mu spoke with earnestness: "After all, in this lifeti, there’s no one besides you who could ever catch my eye. I’ve liked you for so long, it’s beco a habit, one I might never be able to change for the rest of my life."

Fu Shinian’s smile deepened upon hearing this. He leaned closer to Su Mu and gently kissed her forehead:

"That’s the most beautiful confession I’ve ever heard."

Su Mu naturally leaned into Fu Shinian’s embrace. Although the atmosphere of the mont was deeply comforting, there were things that needed to be said; Su Mu didn’t want to leave words unspoken, even if, as Fu Shinian had said before, fate might be too preoccupied to keep orchestrating drama between them endlessly.

But one could never guarantee—what if fate was indeed the overly ticulous type? So, in case an accident truly occurred, Su Mu didn’t want to leave anything unsaid. She spoke slowly:

"Shinian..."

"Hm?"

"If—I’m saying if—if I don’t co back, don’t wait for . Take care of yourself and Grandma. You’re so exceptional, and there are so many people who like you. It won’t be hard to find soone who genuinely treats you well, so don’t mistreat yourself or get stuck in your ways. Understand?"

Fu Shinian listened quietly. Su Mu had thought he might refute her or say sothing harsh, but he didn’t. He just fell silent for a few seconds:

"Susu, let ask you the sa question, in reverse."

"Hm?"

"I’m saying if—if sothing happens to , would you find soone else?"

Su Mu froze, not answering imdiately.

Perhaps fearing that Fu Shinian would use her silence against her, or perhaps desperately seeking reassurance, Su Mu didn’t let the silence linger too long. She answered before Fu Shinian got the chance to speak:

"I would."

Fu Shinian was montarily stunned by her response, then smiled a few seconds later:

"Really?"

"Really. You said you’d take care of for a lifeti, and you said you’d never let suffer or endure hardship. But you haven’t fulfilled those promises. If you can’t even be there for till the end, why should I devote the rest of my life to waiting for you?"

Fu Shinian didn’t say anything.

Su Mu thought he didn’t believe her, so she raised her head to et his eyes and seriously repeated:

"It’s true, everything I said."

Fu Shinian smiled and nodded:

"I believe you."

"So, don’t you dare leave first, or I truly will marry soone else."

Fu Shinian didn’t speak. He reached out to gently caress Su Mu’s face, imasurably tender. He said, "Honestly, none of us can predict how fate will play out. But if the worst happens and I go before you, and you make that choice, I’ll be happy for you."

Su Mu frowned slightly, sensing sothing ominous:

"What do you an by that?"

Fu Shinian smiled faintly but didn’t explain yet. Before he could say anything, Su Mu suddenly thought of sothing, pushed Fu Shinian forcefully. Caught off guard, Fu Shinian nearly tumbled to the ground. Regaining his balance, her voice rang out:

"Fu Shinian, don’t tell you’re planning to et Qin Nianwan on my behalf!"

Fu Shinian was startled that Su Mu had guessed this, but he didn’t exhibit panic. After all, his planning had left no room for gaps that Su Mu could discern earlier. He smiled faintly, but before he could deny it, Su Mu spoke again, her tone sharper:

"Fu Shinian, I’m telling you right now—don’t even think about taking anything on for , and I don’t want you to sacrifice anything for . I may not have said it before, but that doesn’t an I don’t understand. You’ve been shouldering Qiqi’s guilt all on your own. I once blad you—if we hadn’t fought, if I hadn’t t you, then none of this would’ve happened. But then I realized, at the beginning, the one who willingly fell for you and chose this was . In your life, I barged in, and you had no choice but to accept ."

"So, even if being with you brought these hardships, they’re my burden to bear. I have no one else to bla, nor can I tie all of this to you. For every cause, there is an effect. I was the initial cause, so no matter what, you must stop believing you hold responsibility for this. I won’t allow it."

"Also, you better not think about replacing in this matter. I won’t allow it. If I find out, I won’t forgive you for the rest of my life. I will disappear so thoroughly that you’ll never find again. You can try and see if I’d ever soften my heart for all you’ve done for ."

Fu Shinian wanted to speak, but Su Mu didn’t give him a chance.

"Besides, Qin Nianwan asked for . Who are you supposed to be if you go? Had she wanted your life, she could’ve done it long ago—why wait until now? So, your presence ans nothing there. Understand?"

Fu Shinian looked at Su Mu’s passionate, agitated expression, sighed softly, and gazed at her helplessly:

"Are you done talking?"

"For now, but I can’t promise I won’t add more later."

Fu Shinian smirked:

"I’ll admit it—I did consider going to et Qin Nianwan for you. When you don’t want hurt, when you don’t want to risk myself for you, I feel the sa about you. But I dismissed the thought after the first failure and after those photos Qin Nianwan sent over. You know as well as I do—we can’t endure much more waiting. This ti, it has to succeed."

Su Mu still appeared skeptical:

"You really won’t go?"

"I won’t." Fu Shinian looked her in the eye: "I’ll be here, waiting for you. Waiting for you to co ho."

Su Mu let out a small breath of relief but froze montarily when she heard his last words:

"But... if... if I don’t co back?"

"Then I’ll follow your plan—to marry soone else."

Su Mu smiled:

"Stick to your word."

"Of course."
