Originally, there was no intention to disturb the Great Grandmother, on the condition that Qiqi was not angry, but now it seems to be unrealistic. The Great Grandmother had already woken up and she would only feel relieved after watching Qiqi leave the house every morning. Currently, with Qiqi’s attitude towards Su Mu and Fu Shinian, the Great Grandmother would surely notice sothing.
However, Su Mu and Fu Shinian were not very worried about this. What they ultimately cared about was when Qiqi would reconcile with them.
Ten minutes later, Su Shiyue and Qiqi ca out of the room together. Qiqi was dressed in a skirt and a light coat, looking bright and spirited, if her eyes weren’t swollen.
Su Mu and Fu Shinian were still standing in the corridor, with Jiang Bei also present. At this mont, seeing Qiqi walking by without a glance in their direction, Su Mu ultimately couldn’t help but block Qiqi’s path. She looked at Qiqi, but Qiqi stubbornly refused to look up at Su Mu.
Fu Shinian felt so heartache, but since he was facing Qiqi, he ultimately said nothing.
Su Mu watched Qiqi, wanting to extend her hand to touch Qiqi, but froze in place when Qiqi took a step back. Fu Shinian saw this, frowned slightly, and crouched down to Qiqi:
"Qiqi, regarding last night’s incident, I have sothing to tell you. Can we talk, please?"
Qiqi didn’t speak, but her stance was one of refusal.
"We all agreed to go to the resort today. We won’t go to school, let your little aunt take you, and your Xiaobei mom, how about we all go to the resort together?"
Qiqi still didn’t speak, nor did she even glance at Fu Shinian.
Fu Shinian cast a glance at Su Mu and sighed softly, then said:
"I know that what and Mu said last night was hurtful to you, but Qiqi, I can’t believe you didn’t feel anything, didn’t make your own judgent. Even though you’re only three years old, you’re very smart. You should be able to understand that between and Mu, it wasn’t like what you heard last night, we were just pretending, we love each other deeply, can’t you feel it?"
Qiqi’s fingers stirred slightly, Fu Shinian’s words had sparked a reaction from her. Fu Shinian didn’t rush, he quietly waited, and after a few seconds, Qiqi raised her eyes to look at Fu Shinian:
"When you were pretending, I really thought you loved each other. Before, I couldn’t tell you were pretending, and now I still can’t. It’s great if you’re happy, after all, I’m just a child. In your eyes, I should be easy to appease, right?"
Fu Shinian slightly furrowed his brow, before he could say anything, Qiqi turned to look at Su Mu. Su Mu thought Qiqi would say sothing to her, but in the end she didn’t say a word, took Su Shiyue’s hand, and walked past Su Mu. Su Mu wanted to stop her but was held back by Fu Shinian:
"She’s still angry, forcing a conversation now, she won’t be able to take it in."
Su Mu couldn’t help but feel a chill down her spine as she thought maybe it was her illusion, but it seed like the three-year-old child in front of her had grown up overnight and didn’t need her. The dream from last night once again invaded her mind.
She was filled with apologies towards Qiqi, always knowing the weight of a complete family in Qiqi’s heart, but she never knew the reaction would be like this once it collapsed.
Following Qiqi downstairs, the Great Grandmother noticed the wrong atmosphere at a glance, especially Qiqi’s swollen eyes which caused her heartache. She held Qiqi in her arms and stared at Fu Shinian and Su Mu with dissatisfaction. This seed to be the first ti in mory that the Great Grandmother showed such dissatisfaction towards Su Mu.
The Great Grandmother held Qiqi and sat down on the sofa:
"What’s wrong with my little treasure? Who upset you? Did you cry all night? Why didn’t you co to Great Grandmother? I’d stand up for you. Even if whoever it is bullied you, not even your mom and dad could stop ."
In the past, Qiqi would always say sothing playful at this ti, but today she just faintly shook her head:
"Great Grandmother, I need to go to school. It’s getting late."
Great Grandmother was naturally worried to see Qiqi like this, wishing she could watch over her at all tis and cheer her up quickly: "You’re not going to school today, didn’t you get leave for today early in the morning? If you don’t want to go out with your mom and dad, how about Great Grandmother takes you out for fun? Let’s play all day and relax."
She thought Qiqi would agree, but after Great Grandmother had finished speaking, she rejected the idea:
"Great Grandmother, I want to go to school."
Su Mu didn’t know if Qiqi’s doing this was a form of avoidance. She had never been like this before. Su Mu also didn’t want Qiqi to go to school in this state, but at this mont, she could only follow Qiqi’s wishes.
Maybe letting her go to school to play with her classmates for a day would make her feel better?
In the end, Qiqi still went to school, driven by Su Shiyue. Knowing that the two would be worried, Su Shiyue reassured them before leaving:
"I will take good care of our little princess, you can rest assured."
"Be careful on the road."
After Su Shiyue left, Su Mu really wanted to follow them in her car to see, but then thought it was not necessary, after all, it was just a trip to school, and not escaping from her own side. But if Su Mu could have foreseen that this was the last ti she would see Qiqi, she would have chased after them frantically, even risking her own life to keep her by her side.
But there are no ifs.
Watching the car gradually vanish into the distance from the window, Su Mu turned her gaze back inside and saw Great Grandmother looking at her and Fu Shinian. She knew Great Grandmother had sothing to say, so despite feeling restless, she still sat down across from Great Grandmother with Fu Shinian.
Great Grandmother didn’t speak promptly; she gazed at the two opposite her and let out a slight sigh:
"I thought that no matter how much you fought and made a scene, it wouldn’t affect the child. I thought you had that understanding. What on earth happened to make Qiqi like this, even unwilling to talk to you?"
Su Mu didn’t speak, so Fu Shinian had to. This matter couldn’t be concealed and he told Great Grandmother everything that had happened yesterday, including the conversation he had with Su Mu in the study. Of course, he took all the bla on himself, Su Mu was the wronged one.
Hearing this, Great Grandmother imdiately grabbed a throw pillow and hurled it hard at Fu Shinian. He could have dodged, but didn’t. Great Grandmother’s throw and the softness of the pillow didn’t actually hurt, but it made Fu Shinian feel suffocated inside.
Maybe Great Grandmother didn’t understand, but at that mont, Su Mu understood Fu Shinian the best. Nobody knew better than her the guilt Fu Shinian felt towards Qiqi. He had already missed several years of being with her and hated nothing more than not being able to make up for the lost ti by being with her every mont; thus, Fu Shinian was even less willing than herself for Qiqi to get hurt.
