Wen Han’s legs went weak for a mont when he received the news, because even though Zhou Yaxian had almost fully recovered, she still appeared to him as the patient who could end her life at any mont. However, despite his inability to accept it, Wen Han rushed straight to the rooftop imdiately.
As expected, Zhou Yaxian was sitting at the edge of the rooftop, gazing into the distance. This sight was enough to keep even Wen Han, a special forces soldier, from getting too close.
Zhou Yaxian seed to know Wen Han would co. As soon as Wen Han reached the rooftop, she turned around and looked over. After seeing Wen Han’s anxious expression, she smiled faintly without saying anything then turned back to gaze into the distance. Wen Han cautiously approached:
"Mom, whatever it is, let’s go downstairs and talk about it, okay?"
Zhou Yaxian acted as if she hadn’t heard, continuing to stare into the distance, humming a lody familiar to Wen Han. It was their favorite folk song, the one she and Wen Songyan fell in love over. Wen Han didn’t know if Zhou Yaxian was having a relapse; he just wanted her to co down.
Taking advantage of Zhou Yaxian’s distraction, Wen Han moved a bit closer, but just then, Zhou Yaxian slowly said:
"If you co any closer, I’ll jump."
Pedestrians downstairs had also noticed the person on the rooftop, and a wave of exclamations ensued. Wen Han didn’t dare to move any closer:
"Mom, what are you going to do?"
"What am I going to do?" Zhou Yaxian chuckled coldly, "Being treated like a fool and deceived for a month, what do you think I should do? Wen Han, I’m your mother, not your child. How can you deceive like this? If your father knew, he would definitely break your legs."
At the ntion of Wen Songyan, Zhou Yaxian’s lips curled into a satisfied, happy smile:
"I’ve been with your father all my life; he has never deceived —never, not even over a trivial matter."
Zhou Yaxian’s words made Wen Han suddenly understand the reason for her outbreak. He explained:
"Mom, you’ve misunderstood. Su Mu really did co, and she’s been cooking for you all along. It’s just that today, she went out of town for a shoot. I had Auntie Li deliver the food because I was worried about your health. Please don’t overthink it, okay?"
"Really? Then call Su Mu, let her co over. I want to ask her myself."
"Mom..."
"You’re lying to ." Zhou Yaxian’s emotions suddenly intensified, "You’ve been lying to right up to this mont! You think I won’t jump, don’t you? What’s the point of living when even my own son is lying to ? I have lived in lies for a month..."
"Mom!" Wen Han shouted, "Calm down, I am not lying to you. I’ll call Su Mu right now, just calm down."
Zhou Yaxian cald down a bit and turned to watch Wen Han, as if supervising him to make sure he really was calling Su Mu.
With no other choice, under Zhou Yaxian’s watchful eyes, Wen Han had to take out his phone and dial Su Mu’s number. Although he had previously told Su Mu not to intervene in Zhou Yaxian’s matters—as she couldn’t solve them and shouldn’t bother helping excessively as it was of no use—but at this mont, Wen Han had no other option but to turn to Su Mu for help.
Su Mu’s phone was quickly answered. The background noise on her side was loud, revealing her busyness:
"Wen Han?"
"Su Mu, have you finished your shoot? Do you have ti?"
Realizing the urgency in Wen Han’s voice, Su Mu stayed silent for a few seconds. The background noise then died down, and her voice ca through again: "What’s wrong?"
"My mom is at the hospital rooftop now, she wants to commit suicide. Can you co over?"
Su Mu didn’t hesitate:
"I’m on my way now."
After hanging up, Wen Han told Zhou Yaxian, "Su Mu will be here soon, can you please co down now?"
Zhou Yaxian shook her head with a slight smile:
"I will wait here for Su Mu to co, and I will see her at first sight."
The deep autumn wind is chilly, and Wen Han’s heart is even colder now.
After hanging up the phone, Su Mu handed the matters at the filming site over to Lin Ning, and hurriedly drove off alone. However, on the way, she still thought of Fu Shinian and made a call to him. Fu Shinian was in a eting at that ti, but he answered Su Mu’s call imdiately. His voice was smiling, inexplicably making Su Mu’s heart calm down. He said:
"Aren’t you shooting? What’s up?"
"Shinian, I am on my way to the hospital right now. Wen Han called saying that his mother is about to jump off the building and commit suicide."
Fu Shinian’s voice beca serious:
"You go first, I’ll head to the hospital directly from the company. No matter what happens, ensure your own safety first. Rember that?"
"I know."
"Good girl, wait for ."
When Su Mu arrived at the hospital, Fu Shinian had not yet arrived, and she didn’t have ti to wait for him. There were already many spectators at the ground floor of the inpatient departnt, and the firefighters were in position. Looking up, Su Mu could only see a small, frail silhouette due to the high floors.
She didn’t give herself too much ti to linger, just took a quick glance and directly entered the inpatient departnt, taking the elevator up to the top floor and then climbed onto the rooftop.
Wen Han was still standing in the sa spot. Su Mu walked over to him. The wind on the rooftop was strong. Su Mu had co directly from under cover without putting on a coat and shivered from the cold, but she had no ti to worry about that and stood by Wen Han’s side:
"How is it?"
Wen Han glanced at Su Mu and inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief:
"You’re here? She won’t let anyone close. Firefighters tried coming up earlier, and she almost jumped out of agitation. The situation improved slightly after they left."
"Wasn’t she better before? How did it suddenly co to this?"
Wen Han paused for a few seconds: "Today, she found out that the nutritional porridge she has been eating was made by Auntie Li, not you. However, I didn’t tell her the truth, and you shouldn’t either."
Su Mu nodded:
"I got it."
At this ti, Zhou Yaxian heard Su Mu’s voice and turned her head to look at her, smiling slightly: "Susu is here?"
Su Mu smiled and was about to step forward, but Wen Han grabbed her hand:
"Don’t go over there, just talk from here."
"I won’t be in any danger."
"No one can guarantee that, if Fu Shinian were here, he would definitely not agree to you doing this."
Wen Han’s words reminded Su Mu of what Fu Shinian had instructed her over the phone. After a few seconds of silence, she smiled faintly: "I’ll just stand here and not go over."
Wen Han nodded and slowly let go of her arm:
"Be careful with yourself, don’t insist on anything, and take good care of yourself."
Su Mu nodded: "I know."
