Ji Qingluan looked at Wen Han for a few seconds, then slightly smiled:
"Whether you can take it seriously, you know better than I do. My calling Su Mu here has no other intentions, just hoping that my aunt’s condition would improve. But since you have other thoughts, naturally it still needs to follow your wishes. After all, I have no relations with the Wen Family whatsoever, at most I’m just an interfering busybody."
The atmosphere beca sowhat awkward, and Su Mu tily spoke up:
"I had asked about your aunt’s condition before. You said it was not bad. If I had known it was this serious and she had never been discharged, I should have visited earlier. Although it was Ji Qingluan who asked to co, that doesn’t necessarily an it wasn’t my own intention. Now that I am here, would you let in to see her? Or do you think my presence might worsen your mother’s condition?"
Wen Han shook his head:
"No, it’s just that I feel bad for bothering you."
"I’m just visiting the sick, it’s not a bother."
Wen Han was silent for a few seconds before he moved aside and opened the door behind him: "Go in."
Su Mu nodded slightly and walked in, ignoring the two behind her, so naturally she did not see Ji Qingluan’s back as she left without giving another glance at Wen Han.
The hospital room was very quiet, with only the sound of the machines, and not even a slight sound of breathing was audible; Su Mu’s steps involuntarily softening as she approached the bed. She was startled when she saw Zhou Yaxian’s face.
They hadn’t been apart for very long, but even in such a short period, Zhou Yaxian had beco skin and bones. Su Mu always thought Zhou Yaxian was just not in good spirits but not physically hard; however, seeing her now, she felt that Ji Qingluan had been right, her condition was indeed not good.
Noticing Wen Han’s footsteps behind her, Su Mu turned back to look at him:
"With my aunt being in this state, why didn’t you inform ? Did you also instruct Shaoyuan not to tell ?"
Wen Han gave a faint smile:
"There’s no need to say anything. You are not a doctor, so you couldn’t help with her dical condition anyway. She’s just unable to get over a ntal hurdle, and no one can help her with that. But Ji Qingluan was not wrong, recently whenever she is conscious, she calls your na more and more."
Su Mu looked at Wen Han, speechless.
"I think maybe she feels guilty towards you. She was not like this before. After my father left, she completely changed. I know you are angry, so I did not tell you, especially since it seed that we no longer had any relationship."
"Aren’t we friends?" Su Mu looked at Wen Han: "We had agreed before, even if the probation period doesn’t work out, we would return to where we started. Or do you think I no longer qualify to be your friend?"
Su Mu’s words left Wen Han montarily stunned, then sowhat frantically, he responded:
"No, that’s not it. I didn’t an that. It’s just that I feel I’ve done many wrong things, and I think I no longer qualify to be your friend."
"Whether we are friends or not, over these years, my aunt has treated like her own daughter. I admit I was very angry before, and what she did hurt . But from the position of an aunt, she didn’t do anything wrong. Although I don’t want to admit it, there has indeed always been an unbroken connection between and Fu Shinian. As a mother, her concerns about this matter are completely understandable."
Wen Han smiled upon hearing this, a very open-hearted smile:
"Actually, I was just deceiving myself from the beginning. If I had realized earlier the inseparable connection between you and Fu Shinian, maybe I wouldn’t have started all this. Then my mother wouldn’t have had to do what she did, and things between you and us would have been easier."
Su Mu smiled:
"It’s all in the past."
Saying this, she turned back to look at Zhou Yaxian, who perhaps because of her lean condition, seed to have feeble breathing, as if she could stop breathing at any mont. Su Mu furrowed her brow slightly and asked:
"What did the doctor say?"
"We can only treat her like this. She has depression and anorexia, so she needs soone by her side 24 hours a day. Despite our best efforts to feed her every day, she vomits it back up. These days, she is surviving on nutrient solutions. If she can’t get over this ntal hurdle, perhaps..."
Wen Han did not continue, but Su Mu didn’t need him to. She never imagined that losing a partner could cause such pain to the one left alive.
Upon reflection, her mother too had experienced this, wanting to end her life the mont her father left, depriving Su Mu of any chance to respond, and she herself perhaps could not accept such a cruel reality. Thinking of Fu Shinian leaving her, eternally separated, felt like her heart was being hollowed out.
It is a painfully unimaginable thing, what Zhou Yaxian is going through now might really be incomprehensible to them.
Su Mu stayed in the ward for nearly half an hour when the sleeping Zhou Yaxian slowly woke up. Thinking it was a dream, she did not show any strangers upon seeing Su Mu, but rather directly reached out to touch Su Mu’s hand, fearing that she lacked the strength, Su Mu directly held hers:
"Aunt."
Zhou Yaxian smiled and spoke with a breathless voice but one that conveyed happiness everyone could feel: "This dream feels so real, it makes feel it’s true."
Wen Han walked over and leaned down to look at Zhou Yaxian:
"Mom, this is not a dream, Su Mu really ca to see you."
Upon hearing this, Zhou Yaxian paused, her smile gradually faded, and her gaze at Su Mu began to flicker, but she eventually did not back down and continued to look at Su Mu, almost eagerly saying:
"Su Mu, you really ca? You really ca to see ?"
"Yes, aunt, I ca to see you. You have to get better soon."
Zhou Yaxian’s eyes reddened, she had been long without food and had little energy, but at that mont, she did not know where she found the strength to hold Su Mu’s hand painfully tight, as if worried Su Mu would leave the next second, Su Mu slightly furrowed her brow, Wen Han imdiately noticed and wanted to intervene but Su Mu stopped him with a look.
"Susu, I have wronged you, I did bad things that hurt you, you can hate , bla , or even ignore , but I beg you, please don’t break up with Wen Han, please get married, if you get married, even if I die now, I can rest assured to et Song Yan."
Not to ntion Su Mu did not know how to react, even Wen Han did not expect Zhou Yaxian had wanted to see Su Mu to say these words.
