Zhou Yaxian remained silent, while Jiang Bei rely smiled:

"I understand now, you called Su Mu here to cancel tomorrow’s engagent banquet, right? You actually know very well that the person in the photo isn’t Su Mu. You and Su Mu have known each other for a long ti, you must have your own judgnt of what kind of person Su Mu is."

Zhou Yaxian looked at Jiang Bei, wanting to say sothing but eventually remained silent.

"It’s actually very simple to prove that the person in the photo isn’t Su Mu. The departnt Wen Han works in should be able to verify this. As long as we can prove that the photo is forged, Su Mu’s innocence will be restored. But even then, it’s of no use, because besides us who care about the truth, everyone else is just watching the drama unfold. Who else would care about the authenticity of the photo? Even if we distribute the proof to them, they’d probably still think it’s fabricated, right?"

"Because of these photos, the Wen Family will inevitably be subjected to everyone’s gossip. Cancelling the engagent party now, at most, the Wen Family would end up being talked about for being deceived by an unsuitable person. But if we proceed with the engagent as planned, the gossip surrounding the Wen Family will never cease, so it’s you who no longer wants this engagent banquet."

Zhou Yaxian slightly smiled:

"It’s not that I don’t want to, I just want to hear what Su Mu can co up with."

"What can she co up with? She is a victim, not even knowing who forged these photos. The Wen family is wealthy and Wen Han holds a high position; you all don’t have a solution, yet you expect Su Mu to co up with one. If it’s not about setting her an impossible task, then it’s about canceling the engagent."

Before Wen Han could speak, Su Mu intercepted, looking at Zhou Yaxian with an ever so calm deanor:

"I’ve already explained that the person in the photo is not ; there is nothing else I need to say. Regarding the solution you want to co up with, I don’t have the brains for that, nor can I think of any other thod. The only solution, just as Xiaobei put it, is to cancel the engagent, which would minimize the harm to the Wen Family."

Zhou Yaxian glanced at Wen Han and continued speaking:

"Actually, there is another way, which is to find whoever is behind this and have the police publicize the feud between him and you, and then have him admit personally that the photos are forged. Perhaps then so people might believe it. Do you have any suspects in mind?"

Su Mu shook her head: "I don’t know. I don’t think I have offended anyone."

"What about Fu Shinian?"

Su Mu looked up at her but did not speak. Zhou Yaxian smiled:

"I heard that Fu Shinian never gave up on you and tried to stop the engagent banquet. Perhaps this was one of his tactics."

Wen Han spoke:

"It’s not Fu Shinian."

"How can you be sure?"

"Fu Shinian cares about Su Mu. Even if he were to resort to tricks, he wouldn’t joke like this; moreover, he’s trying to win back Su Mu, not push her further away. Even a fool wouldn’t use such a thod, let alone Fu Shinian."

Su Mu stood up from the sofa, and Jiang Bei also rose to her feet, carefully watching Su Mu, fearing she might have a bad reaction, but Su Mu remained calm throughout. She looked at Zhou Yaxian, and also at Wen Han:

"After such an incident, whether for or the Wen Family, it’s not good. I don’t think I have the courage to stand on the stage of the engagent ceremony tomorrow, and the Wen Family won’t accept others’ finger-pointing. So, let’s forget about the engagent."

Hearing this, Wen Han stood up, unbelievably looking at Su Mu:

"Su Mu, we can..."

Zhou Yaxian also smiled:

"Su Mu, that’s not what I an. I just feel that if this incident happened now and if it was to continue tomorrow, it would undoubtedly beco a laughingstock for others. It’s better to postpone the engagent banquet for so ti. After this storm blows over and people forget about this incident, it won’t be too late to discuss the engagent again."

Su Mu smiled without saying a word, but Jiang Bei spoke out:

"Aunt, in your heart, you also agree with Su Mu’s suggestion. In fact, this was always your plan. Now that Su Mu has said it, isn’t this just what you wanted? Why bother saying such righteous and grandiose words? Besides, this engagent was a sham to begin with. Calling it off now is good for everyone, so we don’t have to keep up the act and exhaust ourselves."

Wen Han wanted to stop her, but it was too late. Zhou Yaxian rose from the sofa, looking at Jiang Bei:

"What do you an fake? Xiaobei, what are you implying?"

Jiang Bei wanted to say sothing, but Su Mu pulled her hand, signaling her not to continue. She knew Jiang Bei was defending her, but after all, she was Zhou Yaxian’s niece and the families were relatives. It would not be comfortable for her if they fell out over this matter, yet Jiang Bei had already made things so clear. Su Mu didn’t want to pretend anymore, but considering Zhou Yaxian’s health, she still opted for a tactful response:

"Aunt, Xiaobei is only speaking for my sake; don’t listen to her nonsense. Nothing is fake, it’s all real."

After the twists and turns of the evening, Su Mu was no longer in the mood. Being able to say so much was already her limit, and she just wanted to quickly go upstairs and call Qiqi to leave together. However, Zhou Yaxian did not believe her explanation at all. She stared at Su Mu with piercing eyes:

"From the very beginning, you never intended to get engaged to Wen Han, did you?"

Su Mu looked at Zhou Yaxian, and after a few seconds, nodded: "Yes."

"Then who do you want to get engaged to? Fu Shinian?"

Su Mu never expected Zhou Yaxian would bring up Fu Shinian’s na at this ti. Just when she opened her mouth to explain, Zhou Yaxian suddenly smiled, turned, and took out another stack of photos from the drawer under the side table. But this ti she wasn’t so polite, fiercely tossing them onto Su Mu.

The photos hit Su Mu’s skin, painfully, but the shock of the content was even more striking. As she squatted down to pick up one of them, the explicitly apparent content took a long ti for her to co back to her senses. She stood up, looked at Wen Han, then at Zhou Yaxian, and asked:

"Have you been monitoring ?"

The person in the photo was Su Mu, but this ti it wasn’t forged. She quickly found the mory related to this photo in her mind; not long ago in Jiangcheng City, she had just gotten out of the car with Fu Shinian to have a al. But there wasn’t just this one photo, her every move in Jiangcheng City was captured; the studio, at ho, and even Fu Shinian’s several physical advances at ho were all taken, with ambiguous and intimate gestures, clearly making her out to be a betrayer.

Zhou Yaxian looked at Su Mu with a cold laugh:

"If it weren’t for hearing too many rumors about you and Fu Shinian lately, do you think I would spend the energy to monitor you?"
