This result was sothing Su Mu had never expected. She hadn’t predicted that losing her partner would have such a huge impact on Zhou Yaxian, who had always been a calm and rational woman. Perhaps Su Mu had been too one-dinsional in her previous view, not considering how devastating it would be once such a person was struck down.

Su Mu responded with an acknowledgnt and thanks:

"Thank you, doctor. When will my aunt wake up?"

"She will wake up tonight, or at the latest by tomorrow morning. It wouldn’t hurt for her to get more rest in this condition, but she needs soone by her side."

"I understand, thank you."

After the director left, Su Mu entered the hospital room and, after so thought, decided not to call Wen Han. After all, if it wasn’t serious he wouldn’t have left, and with such a major incident involving Zhou Yaxian, he wouldn’t go anywhere else after finishing his tasks. Moreover, Zhou Yaxian had cald down now, and his coming back right now would not be very useful. It would be better to let him finish his work first.

With Zhou Yaxian causing such an uproar, Su Mu couldn’t possibly leave. She had a quick lunch and stayed by her side relentlessly, fearing that Zhou Yaxian would wake up and do sothing foolish once again. Fortunately, she remained quiet, and only around 7 p.m. did she start to stir, but by then Wen Han still hadn’t returned, nor had there been any calls.

As Su Mu worried, Zhou Yaxian softly called out her na. Su Mu was stunned for a mont before she regained her composure and faced Zhou Yaxian, guarded as if fearful she might get out of bed again. Seeing her state, Zhou Yaxian gave a slight smile:

"Did I scare you?"

Zhou Yaxian’s words were ambiguous, and Su Mu didn’t know if she was referring to her attempted suicide or the disturbance earlier, but in any case, Su Mu had been frightened both tis and so she nodded, walking over to hold Zhou Yaxian’s hand:

"Aunt, you can’t do this again."

Now more composed after waking again, Zhou Yaxian smiled faintly, "I won’t."

The tone was casual, and Su Mu didn’t take it as a promise but rather as a comfort—she was just trying to ease your guard, then take the opportunity when you’re unaware to do sothing irreversible. But Su Mu could only respond:

"Wen Han is very worried, and so is Shaoyuan. You can’t let them lose you, too."

ntioning Wen Han, Zhou Yaxian looked around:

"Why isn’t Wen Han here?"

"He had to go to work this morning, but he should be back soon."

Zhou Yaxian was silent for a few seconds before sighing, "His job is for the country and the people, but it’s the family who suffers. If you marry him, you will live in constant fear. But I have made a decision. I want Wen Han to leave his position and beco an ordinary person. He has been a hero for the people for over a decade and has fulfilled his childhood dream. It’s enough."

Su Mu remained silent. She didn’t know what to say. It was ultimately the Wen Family’s matter, and now Zhou Yaxian still needed soone by her side. Even if they left it all to Auntie Li to look after, it would not work; it had to be Wen Han.

As she contemplated, Zhou Yaxian reached out her hand to Su Mu with a smile:

"Susu, co here, your aunt has sothing to tell you."

Before Zhou Yaxian had spoken these words, Su Mu had anticipated them. She had thoughts of withdrawing and avoiding the conversation, but those were fleeting, swiftly dismissed by herself, especially since the doctor’s words were still echoing in her ears—Zhou Yaxian couldn’t handle any more shocks.

Su Mu stepped forward and sat down on the chair beside Zhou Yaxian’s bed. She wasn’t sure how Zhou Yaxian felt about her smile; even Su Mu herself found it sowhat stiff. Yet Zhou Yaxian’s words ca as expected, just as Su Mu had imagined, saying:

"I know it’s not quite proper for to say this now, but I can only rest easy when I see you and Wen Han together, and I owe it to your uncle. So, Susu, could you promise to marry Wen Han?"

These words were just as Su Mu had contemplated; it wasn’t the first ti she heard them. The last ti, she had been hidden and Zhou Yaxian hadn’t noticed her, and she had made a pact with Wen Han never to bring up these matters again. But now, faced directly by Zhou Yaxian and with Wen Han not by her side, Su Mu had to confront this alone.

Yet she didn’t know how to respond.

Zhou Yaxian waited a long ti without a response from Su Mu, roughly guessing sothing, and her emotions started to beco unstable again. Su Mu noticed her quickening heartbeat and rising blood pressure, and was startled, hurrying to soothe her:

"Aunt, relax, we can talk about this."

"Are you planning to break up with Wen Han? Have you never thought about marrying him from the start?" Zhou Yaxian gripped Su Mu’s hand tightly, using all her strength, so much so that Su Mu’s wrist bore red marks, but she didn’t care about that. Zhou Yaxian was on the verge of collapse, and no one knew what she might do next. Su Mu could only say:

"No, Aunt, you’re overthinking it. I won’t break up with Wen Han. We’ll be fine; don’t worry."

But Su Mu’s reassurances did not calm Zhou Yaxian down because she didn’t hear what she wanted to from Su Mu’s mouth. The grip on her wrist remained firm, her gaze intense as she asked again:

"What about the marriage? Will you marry Wen Han?"

At that mont, Su Mu rembered the doctor’s words and recalled Zhou Yaxian’s behavior at noon; though she was trying hard to maintain her composure, the underlying instability was palpable to Su Mu. She dared not provoke Zhou Yaxian further or say anything against her wishes. Perhaps what mattered most now was not the situation at hand but Zhou Yaxian’s health. Perhaps a delaying tactic was a good choice.

As Zhou Yaxian struggled to sit up, Su Mu managed to calm her with a nod, saying:

"Aunt, don’t worry. I will marry Wen Han. In fact, before you spoke to about this, we were already planning our engagent; we just hadn’t had the chance to tell you yet."

Zhou Yaxian’s mood was completely soothed, and her gaze softened as she looked at Su Mu, much like every ti Su Mu had seen her before, smiling gently like a loving elder:

"Really? You’re not lying to ?"

Su Mu smiled faintly:

"This is a lifeti commitnt. I’m not joking."

Wen Han chose that mont to enter, hearing the entire conversation.
