Su Mu’s voice was light, but fortunately, the carriage was quiet, and Fu Shinian effortlessly heard it. He fell silent for a few seconds and then smiled faintly,

"Su Mu, everyone wants to choose the easiest path to take. If it were possible for to not be constrained by ’only you,’ maybe I wouldn’t be tornting myself like this now."

"Only ?" Su Mu sounded as if she had just heard the funniest joke, "Are you sure? The ’only you’ that matters to you isn’t just the kidney in my body, is it?"

Fu Shinian was about to say sothing but was interrupted by Su Mu,

"Fu Shinian, you don’t have to put on such an act. We can just speak frankly. Although I also hope that Grandma can live a healthy life from now on, we can’t prevent accidents from happening. I swear to you, if Grandma has any accidents in the future and needs the kidney from my body to save her life, I will definitely step forward to donate for her. Not because we were once husband and wife, not to get you to stop bothering , but because Grandma treated like her own granddaughter for a full two years. It’s simply what I should do."

"You still think everything I’ve done is just for that kidney in your body?" Fu Shinian’s voice carried a hint of mockery, "Su Mu, I admit your blood type is very rare, and finding a kidney that matches Grandma’s is indeed difficult, but it’s not like you are the only one in the world. If I want to, I can certainly find another donor. Not to ntion anything else, just within Fu Corporation alone, there are now 15 people with rare ’panda’ blood types."

Su Mu looked at Fu Shinian,

"Did you specially recruit them?"

"Yes, I did it on purpose, long before our divorce. Do you still think I’m after your kidney?" Fu Shinian stepped on the brake, pulling the car to a stop at the roadside. Su Mu, caught off-guard, lurched forward and before she could regain her balance, Fu Shinian’s voice resonated close to her ear,

"I won’t touch your kidney, not even your blood."

Su Mu didn’t respond.

"If I only wanted your kidney, why would I have sched so much to drive you away? Why would I have taken two bullets for you in the parking lot? Why would I create a fake Mrs. Fu just to ensure your safety?" Fu Shinian leaned back in his seat, looking exceptionally weary,

"You can’t possibly think that all my protection was just for that kidney?"

Su Mu remained silent.

"In truth, you might not be unaware, just unwilling to believe. I know that you’ve lost confidence in , don’t trust , and don’t believe what I say. And indeed, it should be so. After all, none of the promises I made to you before were kept."

Su Mu slowly averted her gaze, only then noticing that Fu Shinian had stopped at the old house,

"What did you bring here for? One mont Bishui Yuntian, the next the old house... the next location, wouldn’t be Gui Ning Residence, would it?"

"Not today, there’s not enough ti."

Fu Shinian said as he got out of the car and then opened the rear passenger door for Su Mu. She didn’t imdiately step out, looking at Fu Shinian outside the car,

"I don’t have ti to reminisce with you here."

Fu Shinian’s lips curled up slightly,

"Think about it, there aren’t many good mories between us anyway. Instead of dwelling on the past, I would rather create new stories with you."

Su Mu still didn’t want to get out of the car, but sensing her reluctance, Fu Shinian smiled slightly,

"There’s no hidden aning, I brought you here because there’s sothing I’m not sure how to handle, and I want your opinion."

"How can I decide on your matters?"

"It’s just for reference." Fu Shinian looked at Su Mu, "Just accompany inside, listen to my question, and then I’ll take you away. How about it?"

Su Mu looked at Fu Shinian skeptically, but could not discern anything amiss. After all, when Fu Shinian wanted to deceive soone, few could escape being fooled – hadn’t Su Mu herself been deceived three years ago? She wanted to refuse, but she knew Fu Shinian wouldn’t let her go so easily.

So, she got out of the car.

Re-entering the old house, Su Mu found little had changed. The courtyard still grew grapevines, the only difference being that the vines had run wild with no one to tend them – a clear mark of neglect. Su Mu remained silent for a few seconds before following Fu Shinian inside.

What she hadn’t expected was to find soone in the living room, none other than Xu Yansu, whom she hadn’t seen in a long ti.

Su Mu looked at Fu Shinian doubtfully, wondering what kind of plan he had in mind.

Xu Yansu didn’t expect Fu Shinian to co; she thought it would be Song Yi trying to persuade her again. Glancing over inadvertently, she was about to make a sarcastic remark only to catch sight of the person she’d been longing to see. However, when her eyes landed on Su Mu next to Fu Shinian, her calmness returned at once.

She should have guessed it. Fu Shinian wouldn’t have a sincere talk with her, nor would he accept her conditions.

Ignoring Xu Yansu’s gaze, Fu Shinian gestured towards a spot in front of the floor-to-ceiling window for Su Mu, "Sit there. You don’t have to do anything, just listen."

Su Mu wasn’t in the mood to deal with them and went straight to sit in the wicker chair by the window. Perhaps nothing here had changed, causing her to suddenly rember that New Year’s Eve three years ago when she and Fu Shinian sat in this very spot, talking for a long ti.

Watching Su Mu take a seat in the wicker chair, Fu Shinian seed contemplative, and his heart was mildly stung. What she rembered, he had never forgotten in those three years. Those were the promises he had never managed to fulfill – a beautiful future he had painted for Su Mu, all destroyed by his own hands, even if against his will.

Xu Yansu observed their expressions and smiled faintly,

"You didn’t co here just to put on a show for , did you?"

Fu Shinian’s gaze shifted slowly away from Su Mu as he pulled over a chair and sat opposite her, speaking softly,

"Repeat the deal you want to make with ."

Xu Yansu imdiately understood what Fu Shinian was implying by bringing Su Mu today – he wanted Su Mu to know as well, not wanting any new misunderstandings between them or for Su Mu to be the last to learn of their marriage news. Her slight smile flitted between the two,

"I can say it many tis and it will be the sa. If you want to clear the virus from Su Mu’s body, you have to marry . Besides , no one knows the antidote, nor can anyone else cure her."

Su Mu, initially lost in her mories, regained her focus upon hearing her na from Xu Yansu’s lips. Turning her head, their gazes collided, and she smiled provocatively,

"You don’t really think what I injected into your body was just a sleeping pill, do you?"
