Fu Shinian’s gaze was like a torch as he looked at Su Mu. He didn’t speak for a long ti. Su Mu waited impatiently. Just as she was about to speak, Fu Shinian’s phone rang abruptly. He glanced at it and, in front of Su Mu, pressed the answer button:

"Qiao Yu."

Su Mu felt she had said all she needed to say and didn’t need to wait for him to finish the call, so she turned to leave. However, she had only taken a step or two when she heard Fu Shinian’s voice change noticeably. He said,

"What did you say? What happened to Grandma?"

Su Mu could remain indifferent to Fu Shinian, but she couldn’t bring herself to be truly heartless towards the old lady. So, she ultimately stopped, turned back, and looked. Fu Shinian, sensing Su Mu’s gaze, looked back deeply at her from the depths of his eyes. Still, he did not say anything. A few seconds later, he quickly walked to his car and sped away.

A sense of foreboding slowly rose in Su Mu’s heart, yet at that mont, there was nothing she could do.

When Fu Shinian arrived at the hospital, Qiao Yu had just co out of the ergency room. Seeing Fu Shinian running over, he quickly reassured him, "You don’t need to worry; she has been resuscitated."

"Why did this happen?"

Even if a virus had been present in her body previously, it hadn’t affected her other than occasional delirium. This was the first ti sothing like her sudden cardiac arrest had occurred. Fu Shinian could not calm down, nor could he convince himself that all was well.

"I can’t be sure exactly what happened, but one thing is certain—the virus inside the old lady cannot be delayed any longer. It must be cleared as soon as possible. Although this virus is controlled by dication, it’s like a ticking ti bomb; when quiet, it doesn’t harm the body, but no one can guarantee when or if it will explode."

After listening quietly, Fu Shinian turned to leave, but Qiao Yu quickly grabbed him:

"Where are you going?"

"To find Xu Yansu."

"What do you an? To ask for her help in clearing it? Will she agree?"

Fu Shinian looked at Qiao Yu:

"She has no choice this ti—she has to agree."

Fu Shinian’s determination was clear to Qiao Yu, who had no grounds to object given it concerned the old lady. However, before Fu Shinian could leave, Xu Yansu appeared on her own. Her rapid breathing easily showed her urgency, although no one could be sure of her true purpose at that mont.

"Why are you here?"

"There was a fire at the research institute today. I was there, but when I suddenly heard that the old lady had suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed, I thought I would co to see." Xu Yansu looked at Fu Shinian, "I brought dicine to clear the virus for the old lady."

Xu Yansu’s words made Fu Shinian narrow his eyes slightly. Even though this was the outco he had hoped for, and even though he had been about to seek her out to do the sa thing, his searching was one thing, and Xu Yansu’s proactive approach was quite another.

There are no pies falling from the sky, nor are there free lunches.

The more critical the mont, the more cautious Fu Shinian beca. It was a crucial ti, and no more mistakes could occur. Otherwise, no one wanted another three years without surety if the old lady could withstand such tornt much longer.

"How did you suddenly make this decision?"

Xu Yansu was not foolish; she naturally understood what Fu Shinian’s question implied—that he did not trust her good intentions or her reason for being there, so she could only explain:

"Shinian, you have already announced to the world that I am your fiancée, and we have started taking wedding photos, and although we did not finish the photo session, you have kept your promises to . Thus, I should also fulfill my promises. The old lady suddenly collapsed. I am not sure if it is because of the dication, but regardless, now that the old lady’s health is deteriorating, it is imperative to clear the virus from her body."

Xu Yansu looked at Fu Shinian:

"The old lady is your life. If anything unexpected happens to her, our agreent will be void. I am well aware of this, so I must do this."

Fu Shinian glanced at Qiao Yu, who understood the aning of that look and smiled slightly:

"Miss Xu, can I take the dicine and test it first?"

"Still don’t trust ?"

"It’s not that I don’t trust you, but for safety’s sake, and you know very well that neither the old lady nor Shinian can afford another incident."

Fu Shinian looked at Xu Yansu:

"If the dicine you’ve brought is real, what are you afraid of? That Qiao Yu will steal your research?"

Xu Yansu smiled:

"That won’t be the case. My research isn’t sothing that just anyone can take."

Having said that, Xu Yansu handed over the portable cooling box she was carrying to Qiao Yu: "Please hurry, so I can clear the virus from the old lady’s body."

Qiao Yu, smiling, took it:

"Certainly."

If Xu Yansu had been solely in charge, she might not have revealed the dicine at this ti. The situation was almost as she had anticipated, and even though she really wanted to save the old lady, Fu Shinian might not believe her intentions. Furthermore, their wedding photoshoot was incomplete, leaving room for new developnts.

But Shi Lihua could not wait any longer. The old lady’s recent fainting spell made it impossible for her to follow Xu Yansu’s plan slowly. If the old lady were to die, the things Shi Lihua wanted to obtain from her might never be acquired. Therefore, she needed to clear the virus imdiately so the old lady could regain consciousness and give her the answers she desired.

Xu Yansu was worried, concerned that upon the old lady’s recovery, Fu Shinian might renege. In fact, there was nothing to worry about at this stage; the wedding photos were not the deciding factor for their marriage. However, in Xu Yansu’s mind, she wanted to do anything that would bring her closer to Fu Shinian.

But Xu Yansu would probably never know that Fu Shinian would never let her complete the wedding photoshoot, nor would he allow Su Mu to take the photos—such a cruel task was sothing he could not bear to impose on her. The fire at Xu Yansu’s research facility today was also orchestrated by Fu Shinian. Yet, he had not expected the old lady to fall ill so soon afterward.

However, this was also an opportunity. According to Xu Yansu’s approach, it was uncertain how much longer things would drag on. Fu Shinian also needed a reason to refuse the wedding photoshoot; now, everything had resolved itself cleanly.

Qiao Yu returned two hours later, walking into the old lady’s hospital room and, with a relieved nod to Fu Shinian, said:

"No problem."
