Su Mu awoke to find her limbs had grown numb to the extre. She tried to move but realized she was sitting on the ground, her upper body bound against a thick stone pillar. She looked around, the light was dim, but she could make out her surroundings well enough.

This place seed to be an abandoned parking lot, empty and eerily silent.

She didn’t know what ti it was, nor where exactly she was, and even less whether Fu Shinian knew she had been kidnapped. All she felt now was pain and numbness.

It must have been the drugs, which is why her head was splitting. In the elevator, she rembered where she had seen that man before—years ago in the hospital. His face was familiar, Han Jie.

The mont Su Mu confird it was Han Jie, she beca cautious, but she was still a step behind the prepared Han Jie. He covered her mouth and nose with a handkerchief soaked with drugs, and she quickly lost consciousness. When she woke up again, she found herself in this predicant.

Su Mu didn’t understand why Han Jie would target her. Was it because of Qin Nianwan’s death?

Did he bla her for Qin Nianwan’s demise?

No matter the reason, Han Jie harbored no goodwill towards her, and she needed to find a way to escape. That was what she should be focusing on now.

But relying on her own strength was far too difficult.

Footsteps echoed in the empty space, each step seeming to press down on Su Mu’s heart. She watched the direction of the approaching person with her whole body on guard, yet it seed ridiculously futile. In her current state, it would be as easy for Han Jie to kill her as it would be to crush an ant.

Her guard was utterly useless.

Han Jie and Han Lu appeared together, stopping about two ters away from Su Mu. Han Jie casually pulled over a broken chair next to him and looked at Su Mu with a light chuckle:

"Awake? I thought you’d sleep until nightfall."

Su Mu didn’t respond. She didn’t know what to say. Should she ask him why he kidnapped her? He had a reason for doing so, naturally. She wasn’t curious about that—she only cared about one thing:

"What do you want?"

"Don’t worry, we don’t want your life." Han Jie lit a cigarette, crossed his legs, and exhaled smoke, his mouth curled into a cruel smile. "I just want money. You wouldn’t have had to suffer like this if Fu Shinian hadn’t planted soone by my side, leaving with nothing, both financially and otherwise. I wouldn’t have had to resort to such desperate asures."

Su Mu furrowed her brows slightly. She had assud Fu Shinian would know about Han Jie after his interaction with Qin Nianwan, but hearing Han Jie now revealed that Fu Shinian had been aware and wary of him from the start.

"Seems you’re confused. Anyway, there’s still ti. Do you want to hear everything Fu Shinian did to ?"

If he wanted to tell her, Su Mu had no choice. From Han Jie, she learned he had assud the na Song Zhengxian in Country H, the real story behind Qin Nianwan’s failure to make money there under sordid circumstances, the true reason for Qin Nianwan’s return ho, and his current motives.

It turned out that Qin Nianwan’s collaboration with Chen Huifang to fra her and Wen Han wasn’t simply for revenge but because Han Jie needed money to fulfill his dream of ascending into high society.

What he hadn’t anticipated was that Fu Shinian had everything under control all the while, having planted soone close to him. Even though Qin Nianwan once borrowed fifty million, and Song Zhengxian had managed to take two hundred million from him using dirty tricks, Fu Shinian retrieved every penny at the crucial mont, without any loss.

This was Fu Shinian, the man Su Mu knew so well. Although it may not have been the most appropriate ti, upon hearing this, she couldn’t help but smile.

Song Zhengxian frowned at her:

"What are you laughing at?"

"Nothing."

Su Mu’s smile faded. She wouldn’t provoke him with words or take pleasure in a fleeting mont of bravado. After all, at this mont of disparity in power between them, any attempt at appearing strong would only cause her more pain. She wasn’t that foolish.

"Have you notified Fu Shinian?"

"Not yet," Song Zhengxian looked at her, "I think you should be the one to make this call."

Su Mu looked at him:

"How much do you want?"

"Not much, 300 million."

"Is that enough? Fu Shinian’s wealth is substantial. To go through all this trouble just for such a small amount?"

Han Lu glanced at Song Zhengxian upon hearing this:

"Brother, I think she has a point. Shouldn’t we ask for more?"

"What do you know?" Song Zhengxian shot a glance at Han Lu, "We can’t take all this three hundred million with us. I need Fu Shinian to transfer the funds to my specified account the mont he receives the call. As for the remaining fifty million, I naturally have a way to take it out."

Han Lu didn’t speak, but she trusted Song Zhengxian.

Song Zhengxian got up from the chair, picked up Su Mu’s phone, turned it on, and reached the screen to input the password. He looked at Su Mu:

"How much?"

Su Mu looked at him for a few seconds and finally spoke, "860413."

Song Zhengxian entered the password, then pulled up the contact list, found Fu Shinian’s na, and dialed.

At that ti, in Fu Shinian’s office, Ji Nanfeng and Qiao Yu were both present. They had rushed over as soon as they heard the news to discuss what to do. So when Fu Shinian’s phone rang, the entire office fell into an eerie silence.

Fu Shinian thought it would be an unfamiliar number but, unexpectedly, it was Su Mu. If he hadn’t seen the surveillance video, he might still think everything was just him worrying too much, but now he had to face reality.

He pressed the answer button, but didn’t imdiately speak until a soft voice ca through the phone:

"Shinian..."

Ever known the feeling of your heart instantly jumping to your throat? Fu Shinian was experiencing that feeling right now. He had to use all his strength to control his composure, yet his tone was still unavoidably urgent:

"Where are you now? Are you hurt?"

This one sentence said it all, proving that he at least had a general understanding of Su Mu’s situation. Su Mu did not see his expression, but just listening filled her heart, and her eyes welled up with tears inexplicably:

"I’m fine; don’t worry about ."

Fu Shinian knew there wasn’t much ti for them to talk, so he didn’t waste a mont, instructing her:

"Do whatever he tells you to do, don’t get hurt, don’t dean yourself, understand?"

"I know."

Fu Shinian wanted to say more, but Song Zhengxian had already lost his patience. Although he felt certain about the success of this operation, he had experienced Fu Shinian’s capability firsthand. It was uncertain if Shinian wouldn’t find this place in the next couple of hours, so he took the phone away from Su Mu and spoke directly:

"Mr. Fu, I must say I truly envy the love between you and Mrs. Fu. But don’t worry, I’m only after the money, not a life. As long as Mr. Fu does as I say, I will return Mrs. Fu to you unhard."

"If you dare touch her, make sure to find soone in advance to take care of your funeral."
