At the airport hall, Su Mu arrived to find Jiang Bei sitting alone on a bench, scrolling through his phone. She walked over and stood in front of Jiang Bei:

"How co you’re all by yourself?"

As Jiang Bei lifted his eyes to speak, he caught sight of Fu Shinian standing behind Su Mu, and his smile froze:

"Why is he here?"

"He ca to pick soone up at the airport and joined on the way here."

Jiang Bei nodded at her words:

"I’m not alone, but there won’t be any tearful, dramatic scenes either. My parents wanted to co to the airport but I refused. They would surely cry, and I can’t stand those kinds of situations, so I simply told them not to co. It’d give peace of mind on the flight."

"Uncle and Auntie just can’t bear to part with you."

"It’s not like I won’t be coming back, what’s there to not bear?" Jiang Bei looked at Su Mu, "Wen Han is on annual leave and ca ho. My parents asked him to see off, and now he has taken Shaoyuan to the restroom."

No sooner had Jiang Bei finished speaking than a distant "Sister Su" was heard. Turning around, Wen Shaoyuan was running towards them. Su Mu smiled faintly, then crouched down to look him in the eyes as he approached:

"Haven’t seen you for a few days, how have you gotten thinner?"

Wen Shaoyuan blinked:

"I missed you too much."

Before Su Mu could voice her thoughts, Wen Shaoyuan got a smack on the head from Jiang Bei: "Who did you learn this smooth talk from? Can you teach your dad? If he had half of your sweet talk, he wouldn’t still be without a girlfriend to this day."

Wen Shaoyuan looked at her unconvinced:

"My dad doesn’t want to find one, not that he can’t find one."

"Are you talking about Ji Qingluan? Only if Ji Qingluan were blind would she fancy your dad all these years. Once I return from my studies and cure her eye problem, she’ll no longer fancy your dad. Then he’ll be a completely unwanted old man."

Even with his good eloquence, Wen Shaoyuan couldn’t outmatch Jiang Bei, an adult with such words. Hearing Jiang Bei say this, he felt he ought to retort but couldn’t find a coback, so, frustrated, he kept staring at Jiang Bei until Wen Han, after giving Fu Shinian a nod in greeting, walked over and, mimicking Jiang Bei’s previous action, tapped her head lightly:

"Don’t say such pointless things to my son."

Rubbing her smacked head, Jiang Bei glared back at him, "I’m rely stating facts."

"Is that so? Even if it’s true, even if I have to live the rest of my life alone, my son is already here, unlike you. All grown up and still don’t have anyone, who is really unwanted here?"

Jiang Bei uttered a disdainful sound:

", unwanted? You must be blind, there are loads of people chasing after , okay?"

"Ji Nanfeng? Rong Shen?" Wen Han scoffed, "I’d like to see if you dare choose one of them."

Jiang Bei was completely at a loss for words.

As Su Mu watched the two banter without getting a word in, she stood to one side, holding Wen Shaoyuan’s hand, simply an onlooker to their heated exchange. This seed to be her first encounter with such a forceful Wen Han, which made her take a second look and then, for no apparent reason, she was reminded of the last ti at the airport when he told her that, after returning from Portugal, he would never appear before her again.

Yet since then, they had seen each other twice, and there was no such thing as a ’forever disappearance.’ In fact, it wasn’t intentional or deliberate; as long as she and Jiang Bei remained connected, the two would inevitably et.

No sooner had the skirmish cooled down than Wen Shaoyuan turned around to greet Mr. Fu, who was not far away, with politeness: "Hello Uncle Fu."

Su Mu wasn’t aware that Fu Shinian had spoken with Wen Han, so she always felt Fu Shinian harbored so animosity toward Wen Han and Wen Shaoyuan. Regarding Wen Han, she had nothing to say—it was an unavoidable and unresolved issue. However, she thought Wen Shaoyuan was always innocent and worried that Fu Shinian might have harsh words for the boy. She looked up at Fu Shinian, only to find no displeasure on his face; on the contrary, he smiled at Wen Shaoyuan and gave a gentle wave of his hand.

Noticing Su Mu’s gaze, Fu Shinian looked over at her and knew what she was thinking the mont their eyes t. The corners of his mouth curled into a faint smile, yet he said not a word.

The ti for boarding was almost upon us, and Jiang Bei also got up to prepare for the security check. She opened her arms and hugged Su Mu:

"Rember to call if anything cos up. Even if I can’t rush to your side imdiately, my heart is always with you."

Su Mu patted her on the back, holding back the sourness in her throat:

"I know."

After the hug, Jiang Bei looked towards Fu Shinian:

"Mr. Fu, may I have a word with you?"

Fu Shinian looked sowhat surprised, as did Su Mu, but Jiang Bei gave her a reassuring smile. Su Mu didn’t feel it was her place to say anything, so she watched as the two of them walked to the side.

Perhaps to avoid interacting with Wen Han, Su Mu never took her eyes off Jiang Bei. She saw that Jiang Bei did most of the talking, while Fu Shinian listened, occasionally interjecting a brief sentence or two. After their conversation, both of them appeared calm and collected.

Jiang Bei then turned back to say a few words to Su Mu before waving goodbye and proceeding to the security check. Su Mu watched her figure disappear before turning around.

Behind her stood Fu Shinian and Wen Han.

At this mont, Su Mu suddenly found everything so incredibly bizarre, even theatrical.

As Su Mu was about to step away, Fu Shinian spoke up indifferently:

"The person I’m waiting for will arrive in an hour. Co with ."

Su Mu wanted to refuse, but what would happen after that?

If Wen Han were to leave the airport at this mont, out of politeness he would surely offer her a ride in his car. Even though she had already initiated a divorce from Fu Shinian, at this very mont, she was still Fu Shinian’s wife. Even if that were not the case, she couldn’t accept Wen Han’s kindness in front of Fu Shinian.

"Okay."

Su Mu replied in a soft voice, then stepped forward and squatted in front of Wen Shaoyuan: "Make sure to eat well. I don’t want to see you losing any more weight next ti we et."

Wen Shaoyuan’s eyes brightened at her words:

"Sister Su, we’ll see each other again, won’t we?"

Su Mu smiled a little but didn’t answer. Wen Han spoke at the right mont: "Shaoyuan, it’s ti for us to go back."

Wen Shaoyuan nodded, waved goodbye to Su Mu: "Sister Su, Uncle Fu, goodbye."

Su Mu watched as he left, looking back three tis with each step. Fu Shinian approached and stood beside her at this mont:

"Why didn’t you answer Wen Shaoyuan’s question?"

Su Mu smiled faintly: "It’s nothing. Before, because of Jiang Bei, there were opportunities to et, but now that Jiang Bei has left, it’s unlikely for and Shaoyuan to see each other again. I didn’t tell him directly; I just didn’t want to disappoint him, that’s all."

Fu Shinian looked at her:

"Let’s go, we’ll wait in the lobby."

As the two of them began to walk away, Fu Shinian suddenly stopped in his tracks, looking at soone not far off heading towards the exit. Su Mu also stopped:

"What is it?"

"That person, looks like a confidant of Rong Shen."
