In the bathroom, Su Mu hugged the toilet and vomited everything she had eaten, her face becoming so unbearably red because of the discomfort. Fu Shinian stood at the door watching, turned around to pour her a glass of water, and ca back to find her still dry heaving in the sa position.

Fu Shinian walked over and gently patted her back,

"Auntie is not an outsider. If you can’t eat, just say so. Is it necessary to make yourself so uncomfortable?"

Su Mu stopped vomiting and turned to avoid his touch but didn’t respond to his words. Fu Shinian couldn’t help but smile at the sight,

"We haven’t gotten divorced yet, and you won’t let touch you?"

Su Mu didn’t look at him and went straight to the sink to wash her hands and rinse her mouth. The cup of water in Fu Shinian’s hand beca redundant. He stood there, chuckled softly, placed the cup on the sink, and said to the busy Su Mu,

"Su Mu, I will not agree to a divorce."

His words made Su Mu’s movents pause, and for a few seconds, the only sound in the room was water continuously flowing from the tap, attempting to break the silence. Su Mu then turned off the water, and in the eerily quiet space, she looked at Fu Shinian in the mirror and asked,

"Why won’t you agree?"

"I could list a thousand reasons. Which one would you like to hear?" he said indifferently, "Of course, you can sue for divorce, but I want to see who in Shen City dares take your case."

Su Mu turned around, her gaze intense,

"Fu Shinian, what’s the point? You don’t love , and I’m trying to stop liking you, too. Do you find it amusing, a good way to pass your mundane and boring ti, to keep entangled with soone like that?"

The phrase ’stop liking you’ was grating to Fu Shinian’s ears, like nails on a chalkboard, causing a discomfort in his chest. He was well aware that if he spoke now, the words wouldn’t please Su Mu, so he forced himself to hold back and just watch and listen to her.

"My youth was a mistake, mistaken in confusing gratitude for love, and mistaken in marrying you to preserve your pride, rather than having you hate . I’ve realized my mistake now, and it’s a wild one. I have no intention to persist in the wrong direction; all I want is to cut my losses."

Fu Shinian felt it was ti to leave, or else he couldn’t guarantee that he could continue the conversation calmly:

"Of course, you can have your ideas, but they only count when put into practice."

After saying that, he walked toward the door, with no intention of acknowledging her further. However, Su Mu’s chest felt as if sothing was clogged inside her, an unbearable sensation.

When she returned to the dining table, Fu Shinian had already taken his original seat. Su Mu had no appetite, but since Auntie hadn’t gotten up, it wasn’t proper for her to just leave. Auntie seed thoughtful though and directly told her to rest:

"If you don’t have an appetite, no need to sit here with us. Go rest, and later I’ll have Auntie Wang prepare so mild and tasty congee for you. When you’re hungry, just co down and have so. Don’t force yourself."

Su Mu smiled faintly,

"Thank you, Grandma."

"You’re still being courteous with , child. Go upstairs."

Su Mu’s intention to turn around and leave froze. She hesitated for a few seconds, wanting to tell Auntie that she didn’t want to go upstairs, that she wanted to sleep with her instead. But thinking of what Auntie had said before dinner, Su Mu ended up not voicing her thoughts.

Even though she would eventually leave this place, she still wanted to do her limited best to give Auntie a good year, even if it ant acting. It was the least she could do for this caring old lady.

After taking a shower, Su Mu heard the sound of a car engine from the courtyard. Standing in front of the french windows, she saw Fu Shinian’s car leaving the old house. She didn’t know what he was up to and had no interest in finding out, just feeling much more at ease without him around.

When Fu Shinian knocked on Qiao Yu’s apartnt door, he was surprised to find Ji Nanfeng there as well. He frowned slightly at the sight of Ji Nanfeng sitting on the sofa and asked Qiao Yu,

"Why is he here?"

Qiao Yu snorted coldly, "Who knows."

With such a tone from Qiao Yu, it must be because of Jiang Bei. He smiled lightly and walked in to take a seat beside Ji Nanfeng:

"Didn’t you say you would never fall for a woman? How much ti has passed? Does your face hurt?"

Ji Nanfeng chuckled softly as he looked at Fu Shinian:

"What right do you have to say these words to ? How is your situation any better than mine?"

Qiao Yu, standing at the bar making coffee, heard this and looked silently at the two n in the living room:

"You two are a match in every way, why compare here? Aren’t you ashad?"

Both of them fell silent until Fu Shinian lifted his foot and kicked Ji Nanfeng:

"Instead of sitting here as if you’re waiting for death, you’d better go investigate the matter you’re responsible for."

Ji Nanfeng gave him a sidelong glance:

"Do you know why I am the boss? A boss gets his n to do the work, while I just have to check the results. Don’t worry, as soon as she shows the slightest clue, I’ll be able to catch her. But I fear there might be no leads at all."

After all, Song Yi had already investigated before and found not a single trace. Although Song Yi’s thods were slightly inferior to Ji Nanfeng’s, with Fu Shinian’s resources backing him, how much weaker could he be? It’s likely that in the end, Ji Nanfeng would also co up empty-handed.

Qiao Yu ca over and placed a cup of coffee in front of Fu Shinian: "What are you two talking about?"

Fu Shinian responded indifferently, "That person seems to have appeared."

"That person?" Qiao Yu was slightly surprised when he realized, "Really?"

"Nothing has been found yet, but after Qin Nianwan disappeared, other than so activity traces in Shen City, there have been no clues since." Fu Shinian lit a cigarette, "She should be back, but she hasn’t returned to Shen City. However, she will probably be back soon."

"Two years ago, we couldn’t figure out her purpose for coming back, and then we could never find this person again. Now, she’s reappeared without a trace. You need to be prepared."

Fu Shinian nodded:

"Don’t worry."

Seeing his confident deanor, Qiao Yu said nothing more and took a seat opposite them, sitting with his arms crossed and looking sowhat helpless:

"Who’s going to start?"

Fu Shinian and Ji Nanfeng looked at each other and asked in unison:

"Start what?"

Qiao Yu scoffed:

"If you two didn’t have so unresolved issues, would you co to ? But what I can’t figure out is, what part of gave you the wrong impression that I can solve your riddles? I’m a doctor, not a psychiatrist. Have you even recognized my profession?"

"If you think you can’t play that role, why make us say anything?" Ji Nanfeng smiled at him: "It’s precisely because you’re open and have a warm heart ready to help others that we think of you first when we’re at a crossroads in life."

"A doctor doesn’t have the right to refuse patients, but I think I might choose my friends again. You two are a punishnt from heaven."
