After leaving the bar, Su Mu walked slowly as if pondering sothing important. Wen Han followed behind her without a word until he quickly pulled her aside when she nearly got hit by a car, leaving Su Mu puzzled as she looked at him. Wen Han expressed his concern:

"You were almost hit."

It was as if that mont brought back so of Su Mu’s reason, "Thank you."

Wen Han glanced at his watch, it was already nearly 4 a.m:

"We need to find a hotel now, we should rest for the night regardless; whether to go back to Shen City or stay here longer, you decide."

It seed Su Mu was also tired, this ti she did not refuse Wen Han’s suggestion, she nodded and said:

"Okay."

In the hotel corridor, Wen Han was worried about Su Mu’s condition, but it wasn’t proper for them to share a room. Finally, he just advised her:

"Call if you need anything, don’t think too much, we’ll talk about everything once we return."

Sensing Wen Han’s concern, Su Mu looked up at him and slowly smiled:

"What are you worried about? I’ll be fine."

"You don’t seem right."

"No," Su Mu denied, "I calmly faced everything as it happened; this is just an answer now. I’m not so fragile that this would break . I was just thinking about things."

Her words slightly reassured Wen Han:

"That’s good, get so rest early."

"Okay."

——

Su Mu woke up the next afternoon, and saw a WeChat ssage from Jiang Bei silently lying in her phone, a brief three words: "I’m so annoyed."

When she called back, Jiang Bei didn’t answer the phone. Thinking he might be busy, she didn’t persist and started to check for flights back to Shen City.

Since everything here was dealt with, there was no need to stay any longer; she still had unresolved matters in Shen City.

She ssaged Wen Han on WeChat to inform him of her intention to return. Wen Han did not object, the soonest flight was in three hours, and they agreed to et in the lobby in 15 minutes.

In the first-floor lobby, the two checked out of the hotel. Su Mu insisted on paying back the room fee to Wen Han. Wen Han started to refuse, but suddenly suppressed what he wanted to say, tapping ’confirm’ on his WeChat paynt page to accept the money Su Mu transferred for the room fee.

He had said it, after this return, he would never appear before Su Mu again.

So, let it start from this mont.

Whatever she wanted to do, he would agree.

Before heading to the airport, they went to a restaurant for a al, the first ti since quitting her job that Su Mu ntioned Wen Shaoyuan:

"Shaoyuan... is he okay?"

Wen Han glanced at her, nodded:

"There’s always an adjustnt period; you needn’t worry, his adaptability has always been strong since he was young."

"Mm, that’s good."

Su Mu always felt a deep sense of guilt regarding Wen Shaoyuan.

Wen Han wanted to ask what Su Mu planned for her future, but in the end, he never spoke up, feeling that whatever Su Mu wanted to do, she wouldn’t want him involved.

When they arrived in Shen City, it was 6 p.m. Compared to Portugal, the temperature in Shen City had dropped to an extre. Su Mu almost sneezed the mont she got off the plane. Seeing this, Wen Han imdiately took off his coat and draped it over her. Su Mu wanted to refuse, but Wen Han firmly held her shoulders:

"Your health has always been weak, stop arguing over this with . When I was at the Northern Military Camp, I stood bare-chested in the snow for two hours in a military posture and didn’t get sick; can you compare with ?"

Su Mu indeed couldn’t compare, and considering her health she shouldn’t have refused, but she persisted in returning the clothing to Wen Han after he had spoken:

"Wen Han, we had an agreent."

The words "we had an agreent" stripped Wen Han of any right to speak or act, leaving him only able to watch her as she gradually walked away and finally disappeared from his sight.

Standing at the airport exit, Su Mu casually hailed a taxi while simultaneously pulling out her phone to make a call. Not far from her, a black sedan was parked by the curb. Soone was sitting in the back seat, staring intently at her. Song Yi, sitting in the passenger seat, didn’t dare to breathe loudly, trying his best to minimize his presence. Yet, unexpectedly, his phone rang the next mont.

While cursing under his breath, he took out his cell phone and looked down. To his surprise, he exclaid:

"Mr. Fu, it’s the madam’s call."

Fu Shinian responded indifferently:

"Answer it."

As Song Yi pressed the answer button, he also activated the speakerphone, trying to make his tone sound normal:

"Madam."

"Qin Nianwan’s address, tell ," Su Mu got straight to the point.

Song Yi, surprised, glanced cautiously at Fu Shinian:

"What does the madam need Qin Nianwan’s address for?"

"Is Qin Nianwan’s address a secret?"

Fu Shinian slightly nodded to Song Yi, who understood:

"Of course not, I will send it to your phone right now."

Having obtained the answer she wanted, Su Mu hung up the phone without another word. Song Yi looked toward the back seat at Fu Shinian:

"Should I really send the address to the madam?"

"If she wants it, give it to her," Fu Shinian said indifferently, his gaze returning to Su Mu. It was the peak ti for traffic, and her frail figure trying to hail a cab among the crowd looked very vulnerable. Fu Shinian slightly shifted his view to check the weather; if he rembered correctly, it was about to snow soon.

"Drive."

——

By the ti Su Mu arrived below Qin Nianwan’s apartnt, nearly two hours had passed. Shen City was experiencing its second snowfall of the winter, which was much heavier than the first. The entire city was visibly transforming into its winter attire as she traveled from the airport back towards the city center. As she watched, Su Mu’s heart inexplicably cald.

However, she hadn’t expected to see Song Yi’s figure in front of Qin Nianwan’s apartnt building.

She stopped in her tracks and looked at him indifferently. Song Yi, feeling a bit embarrassed under her gaze, hurriedly stood up from the couch in the apartnt lobby and approached her:

"Madam."

"What are you doing here?"

Song Yi smiled: "Naturally, I ca because I was worried about you, to keep you company."

Su Mu was silent for a few seconds, and for a mont, she was tempted to ask if Fu Shinian had sent him, but she suppressed the words at the last mont. What did it matter if he had or hadn’t? Neither answer would change the dead-end fact of their relationship.

Even if Song Yi’s presence was arranged by Fu Shinian, it might just be because he was worried she might do sothing excessive to Qin Nianwan.

Not asking was the best choice.

As she was about to head upstairs, Song Yi suddenly ca forward and patted the backpack on Su Mu’s back. Su Mu turned around in confusion, and seeing her reaction, Song Yi stopped his action, smiling awkwardly: "There’s snow on your backpack, I was just wiping it off for you."

Su Mu, not suspecting him:

"There’s no need."
