Su Mu nodded in agreent:
"It’s my bad luck."
Wei Shaoqin looked at Su Mu for a long ti without saying a word, but his expression always carried that indifferent smile. Su Mu didn’t feel uncomfortable under his gaze, but she felt that with the current ti and weather, if she didn’t leave soon, she might very well freeze into an icicle.
Before Su Mu could urge them to hurry, Jiang Bei, who was sitting in the car, voiced his impatience:
"Are you two done talking yet? If not, close the car door. I’m freezing to death here."
Su Mu cracked a slight smile: "Get in the car."
Wei Shaoqin did not say anything more and got into the car by himself.
Su Mu didn’t know where Wei Shaoqin’s ho was. When she asked, she found that both he and Jiang Bei were fast asleep in the back seat. She tried calling out to them twice but couldn’t wake them, so she had no choice but to drive back to Jiang Bei’s ho. Her house was big enough; besides herself, accommodating one more person like Wei Shaoqin would not be an issue.
When the car slowly stopped underneath the apartnt building, Su Mu was the first to get out. She glanced back and saw the n in black still looking for a parking spot. She didn’t think much of it and directly opened the rear door to wake the two still deep in slumber. However, before the two could wake up, Su Mu distinctly heard hurried footsteps getting closer. Before she could turn around, soone forcefully pushed her against the car window:
"Is this the one?"
Soone leaned in close, using the dim streetlight to glance at Su Mu’s face, then shook their head:
"Not this one."
It took Su Mu almost an instant to realize their intentions. Before being dragged away, she shouted "Wei Shaoqin". Wei Shaoqin slowly woke up, and seeing the sudden event unfold before him, he beca instantly alert:
"Fuck!"
As he spoke, he managed to kick soone who was trying to get into the car out.
Worried about Su Mu, he hurried out of the car. Seeing Su Mu completely pinned down by the others, his entire aura changed. As he began to move towards her, Su Mu stopped him:
"Don’t worry about , they’re after Xiaobei. Protect her."
Wei Shaoqin paused, seemingly hesitant, but the group behind him didn’t give him a chance to react before they stord back in. Soone rushed forward trying to subdue Wei Shaoqin, but they didn’t expect him to have so skills of his own, and for the mont, they couldn’t take him down.
However, with the assailants outnumbering them, soone took advantage of the chaos to open Jiang Bei’s car door and roughly dragged her out.
When Su Mu tried to warn Jiang Bei again, the person behind her suddenly covered her mouth and threatened in her ear:
"I advise you to behave, make another sound, and don’t bla for killing you!"
Jiang Bei, groggy from sleep, looked at the unfamiliar man in front of her, then at the lee nearby, and Su Mu being controlled. She almost instantly realized what was happening. Reflexively, she kicked up at the man’s crotch. He howled in pain and fell to his knees.
Jiang Bei bent down to pick up the iron rod the man had been holding and walked towards Su Mu. The man behind Su Mu squinted his eyes, seeming sowhat amused. But before he could speak, Jiang Bei beat him to it:
"Let her go while I’m still in the mood to talk nicely."
The man chuckled lightly:
"I’ve been in this ga for so many years, would I be afraid of a little girl like you?"
Jiang Bei sneered:
"Rember to kneel down and call grandma later!"
Su Mu had always known that Jiang Bei was skilled in martial arts and was once the champion of Sanda in Shen City, but she hadn’t practiced in a long ti. Now, she was fighting for real with several n, and Su Mu couldn’t help but worry:
"Xiaobei..."
Jiang Bei winked at her, signaling her not to worry, and then turned to the man who was restraining Su Mu:
"You’re looking for , right? Let her go. If you have the guts to knock down today, I will go with you."
The man glanced at Su Mu, then back at Jiang Bei in front of him, and then released her. She was right— even if he killed this woman in his hands today, it would be pointless; after all, the person who had put their boss behind bars was the naive woman in front of him.
After roughly shoving Su Mu aside, the man walked towards Jiang Bei.
Su Mu fell to the ground and before she could get up, a hand reached out to her. Su Mu looked up and, to her surprise, saw Wen Han’s face.
Wen Han helped Su Mu up from the ground and then glanced at the ongoing scuffle. He led Su Mu to his car, opened the door for her, and instructed, "Stay here, don’t co out."
"I know, go help Xiaobei," she said.
Wen Han looked at her for a mont, then took off his jacket and handed it to Su Mu before turning away.
The lee ended quickly with Wen Han’s involvent. By the ti the n in black arrived, two or three had already run away, and five or six lay scattered on the ground. Wen Han cast a glance at the panting Jiang Bei and rcilessly comnted,
"You’ve regressed."
Jiang Bei shook her arm that had been hit earlier, baring her teeth in pain as she looked at Wen Han:
"I haven’t practiced in three years; this is good enough."
"With skills like these, what makes you think you can knock those guys down?"
Before Jiang Bei could retort, Su Mu hurried over with Wen Han’s jacket. She handed it to Wen Han, who was about to say sothing, but she walked past him without turning back and stood in front of Jiang Bei, looking her over anxiously:
"How are you? Are you hurt?"
Jiang Bei shook her head:
"It’s nothing. If it weren’t for the alcohol, these guys wouldn’t have been a problem at all."
Wen Han paused for a few seconds while putting on his clothes because of that remark. He looked at Jiang Bei, and after receiving his gaze, she made a grimace at him and looked away.
"Let’s go check on Wei Shaoqin."
Wei Shaoqin had received training and had fought abroad, but this was the first ti he felt so exhausted. He lay on the ground just like the others, thinking that if it weren’t for the cold weather, the combination of strenuous exercise and the effects of alcohol would make him fall asleep imdiately.
Standing on either side of him, Su Mu and Jiang Bei looked down at him. Both could clearly see a trail of blood on his forehead. Jiang Bei squatted down, pushed his hair aside, and looked at his forehead:
"You really are klutzy, letting just these few guys injure you."
Wei Shaoqin clicked his tongue:
"You ungrateful brat, if it hadn’t been for you, would I have gotten hurt? And now you have the nerve to mock here? I’m telling you, you have to compensate for this injury, not just the dical bills, but also for my emotional distress."
Jiang Bei laughed:
"Fine, you na the price and I’ll pay, no defaults."
