After returning to her room, the corners of Su Mu’s mouth remained upturned, and even Wen Shaoyuan could feel her happiness. He would glance back at her from ti to ti:
"Su sister, are you very happy?"
Su Mu nodded:
"Yes, very happy."
"So, was it Uncle Fu who called you?"
Su Mu tilted her head slightly and looked at him, "How did you know?"
"You like him, don’t you? Only soone you like can make you so happy, right? It’s like how I like you. Seeing you or hearing your voice makes feel very happy."
Su Mu couldn’t help but laugh:
"At such a young age, what do you know about liking soone?"
"Of course I know. For example, I don’t like it when other people touch my hair, but it’s okay when you do it. That should be liking, right?"
Su Mu nodded:
"Right, that’s an expression of liking. But the liking you’re talking about is different from the kind of liking I an."
Wen Shaoyuan raised his eyebrows slightly:
"Su sister, are you speaking in tongue twisters?"
Su Mu smiled faintly, choosing not to continue the discussion with him. After all, he was still young, and one day he would understand what she ant.
At lunchti, Auntie Li had prepared many of Wen Shaoyuan’s favorite dishes. He was very delighted and neglected his table manners, constantly talking to Su Mu. Worried that he wouldn’t eat properly, Su Mu purposely put on a stern face:
"Wen student, it’s not good manners to talk while eating."
Wen Shaoyuan raised his eyebrows slightly:
"Su sister, I don’t think so. Look, when everyone goes out for a al together and doesn’t talk, don’t you find that strange? Why is it impolite not to talk when dining out, but suddenly a bad habit when talking at ho?"
Su Mu: "..."
She had been caught off guard.
Wen Shaoyuan, feeling quite smug, was about to say a few words to comfort Su Mu, when suddenly the living room door was pushed open with force, bringing in a gust of winter wind that made Su Mu shiver involuntarily.
Since Su Mu was sitting with her back to the door, she didn’t see the visitor right away. However, Wen Shaoyuan, sitting across from her, saw the newcor as soon as the door opened, then he hopped off his seat, circled around the table, and hurled himself directly into Su Mu’s arms.
Su Mu was taken aback and looked back to see a woman in her fifties wearing clothes that didn’t quite match her age, her face thick with makeup, staring straight at Su Mu. Before Su Mu could speak, Wen Shaoyuan whispered in her embrace:
"Su sister, she’s my grandmother."
Su Mu had t her once before, and although her appearance had changed considerably since the last ti, she could still recognize her. She gave Wen Shaoyuan a reassuring smile, stood up from her seat, and Wen Shaoyuan instinctively stood behind her, cautiously taking asure of the unexpected visitor.
"Oh, we have guests at ho?"
Su Mu smiled faintly:
"Hello, Shaoyuan’s grandmother, I am his tutor, and I am here today to give him extra lessons."
"Oh," Grandmother Chen Huifang smiled aningfully, but sized up Su Mu from head to toe, her probing gaze as if trying to see right through soone, which was quite uncomfortable. "A tutor, huh? Are tutors all so young and beautiful these days? You’re not using teaching as a guise to do sothing else, are you?"
Auntie Li, hearing the commotion, hurried out. She paused upon seeing Chen Huifang, but quickly introduced,
"You’ve arrived. Let introduce you—this is the young master’s tutor, nad Su Mu, who has been working for the Wen Family for so ti."
Chen Huifang raised her eyebrows slightly, as if rembering sothing, "Have we t sowhere before?"
The last ti Wen Shaoyuan ran away from ho and Su Mu went to pick him up from kindergarten, Chen Huifang had indeed faced her outside the kindergarten gates, but Su Mu did not admit it, just smiled lightly.
"The kindergarten, right?" Chen Huifang rembered, stepping forward without even bothering to change her shoes, "I recall now, that day it was you carrying a child who was bundled up tightly from the kindergarten. I truly didn’t expect it to be you. Do you know who I am to dare deceive ?"
Chen Huifang’s gritted teeth made Wen Shaoyuan a bit scared, but he still chose to stand up for Su Mu at this mont:
"Sister Su is my teacher, and you can’t hurt her."
Su Mu pulled Wen Shaoyuan back behind her and smiled at him, "Don’t worry, your Sister Su won’t get hurt."
Chen Huifang watched this scene with a cold eye and laughed softly,
"You’ve beco so close? I don’t think it will take long before the teacher turns into a stepmother, right?"
Without waiting for Su Mu’s reaction, she directly pulled out a chair at the dining table and sat down, then called out to Auntie Li who stood awkwardly to the side,
"Don’t you see I haven’t eaten yet? What are you standing there for? Go get so cutlery. I really wonder what we’re paying you so much for, if you can’t even serve properly and lack any sense of duty."
Auntie Li had worked for the Wen Family for many years. Not even Zhou Yaxian and Wen Songyan had spoken to her with such harshness, yet she had to swallow her feelings, knowing fully well the kind of person Chen Huifang was after all these years.
When the cutlery was brought over, Wen Shaoyuan didn’t want to sit down to eat anymore. He gently tugged on Su Mu’s clothes, and she understood what he wanted. She nodded and proceeded upstairs with him, which displeased Chen Huifang. She’d barely taken a couple of bites when she slamd her chopsticks down onto the table,
"Is this how you teach children as a teacher? The elder hasn’t even had dinner yet, who allowed the child to leave?"
Su Mu turned back:
"We had lunch before you arrived, and now it’s Shaoyuan’s nap ti. I will take him to rest first. If you have anything to say, I will co down later and you can speak directly to ."
"Speak directly to you?" Chen Huifang snorted, "You haven’t even entered the family yet, and you’re acting like the lady of the house? Do you think marrying Wen Han is easy? I’ll tell you, as long as I’m here, forget about it. Wen Han was born my daughter’s man, and he will die her ghost."
Su Mu looked at her indifferently, continuing to lead Wen Shaoyuan upstairs, completely ignoring her words.
In the room, Wen Shaoyuan’s mood was evidently low. Sitting on the edge of the bed, his head nearly sagged to his chest. Su Mu squatted down in front of him with a smile, "Unhappy?"
"I don’t like her, and I don’t want to see her. Every ti I see her, I get upset."
Su Mu smiled gently and took his small hand:
"Then let’s not go down, nor see her."
Wen Shaoyuan looked up at Su Mu:
"Sister Su, don’t take to heart what she said. Keep the mood you had when Uncle Fu called you just now, stay happy. I like seeing you smile."
