When Fu Shinian returned to the bedroom, Su Mu had already taken a bath, currently sitting in front of the dressing table and drying her hair. Hearing the door open, she paused briefly but didn’t look over, continuing to dry her hair.
Su Mu thought he would go straight to the wardrobe to get clothes and then take a bath, but he didn’t. He walked over to stand behind her, took the towel from Su Mu’s hands, and began to finish the job she hadn’t completed yet.
Su Mu did not refuse. She watched Fu Shinian standing behind her in the mirror and said,
"I have decided to start teaching Wen Shaoyuan again from tomorrow. I’ve already delayed almost a month."
Fu Shinian’s gaze t hers in the mirror for a brief second,
"If you’ve decided, then good."
"The old house isn’t far from the Wen Family, but it’s inconvenient without a direct transport, so you need to arrange a driver for ."
Fu Shinian’s hair-drying actions halted, and he looked at Su Mu again, but this ti he didn’t look away, tightly locking eyes with her. Su Mu didn’t need to ask in detail or elaborate further; Fu Shinian already understood what her words ant.
Su Mu avoided his gaze, her eyes slightly downcast,
"I don’t know if my decision is the right one because no one but you can tell the answer. But I can see clearly into my heart, knowing that at this mont, I don’t yet want to give up. Whether this persistence makes sense, I’m not sure. You were right, I’ve persisted for two years already, and shouldn’t choose to give up just as you start to believe in . Since you won’t let leave no matter what I choose, I want to give it my all."
Fu Shinian quietly listened to her complete her statent. There was no obvious change in his expression, and he didn’t even blink; he just looked at Su Mu. A few seconds after she finished speaking, he resud drying her hair and then quietly said one word:
"Okay."
Fu Shinian went to bathe, and Su Mu left a wall lamp on as she lay down on the bed to rest with her eyes closed. Perhaps it was because she had made a decision; at this mont, she felt an unprecedented sense of relief and dozed off.
Feeling sothing cool slipping inside her clothes, she abruptly woke up, realizing it was Fu Shinian. She slowly exhaled, knowing what he wanted. He had always had a strong desire in this respect. Even if it wasn’t a nightly occurrence, there had still been four or five tis a week, but now it had been nearly a month since he last did, and naturally he was longing for it.
Although they had just spoken honestly and cleared the air, it was not the right ti for such intimacy. But these things were inevitable, if not today, then tomorrow. Su Mu wasn’t insisting, but just as she was starting to relax, she suddenly rembered sothing and quickly grabbed his hand that was trying to slip into her sleep pants:
"No."
Fu Shinian propped himself up on her, looking at her, "Hmm?"
"My period has co."
"I rember it’s not at this ti."
Su Mu thought he would not rember, but it turned out he indeed knew. Normally, her nstrual cycle was very regular, almost never early or late. But this month, for so reason, it had delayed by more than a week, and the flow was also noticeably lesser.
Su Mu did not explain, and Fu Shinian searched for the answer himself, feeling the thick layer below; he truly furrowed his brows:
"Really?"
Su Mu pulled away his hand, "I have no reason to lie to you."
Fu Shinian looked at her,
"You indeed need to get a good checkup, even if it’s not about having kids."
He lay down beside her, and Su Mu quietly stared at the ceiling, not speaking for a long ti.
——
The following Monday, having not gone to the office for a straight week, Fu Shinian went to the company early in the morning without even having breakfast. Su Shiyue also returned to England in the morning, so the lunch table was indeed quieter than the previous days, but the old lady’s mood was not affected at all.
After lunch, Su Mu took a nap. She had set an alarm, but upon waking up, she realized the alarm hadn’t woken her. Unexpectedly, she had slept for two and a half hours, sothing that had never happened before, and she still felt groggy.
After a quick wash, she went downstairs, greeted her grandmother, and then left the house. The driver was already waiting for her at the door, and as she ca out, he walked over to open the car door for her:
"Madam."
Although Su Mu had ntioned this matter to Fu Shinian the day before, she hadn’t expected him to arrange it. She had thought to inform the driver herself, but he had already made arrangents.
When she arrived at the kindergarten right on ti, she told the driver to go back and went straight inside. Wen Shaoyuan, seeing her, was as excited as a little monkey. Su Mu thought that if he had great jumping ability, he definitely would have leapt onto her and danced around.
On the way back to the Wen Family ho, Wen Shaoyuan chattered nonstop, as if he wanted to catch up on all the days’ worth of conversations. But as they neared the house, he suddenly fell silent, looking at Su Mu with eager and fervent eyes:
"Sister Su, will you co to tutor from now on?"
Su Mu smiled slightly:
"I will."
"Then you can’t get sick, okay? If you get sick, I won’t see you for a long ti."
Su Mu nodded, "I’ll try my best."
Su Mu thought that there was no one else at the Wen Family ho, but Zhou Yaxian was there. She showed no surprise at seeing Su Mu, as if she had known she would co today. After Su Mu entered and greeted her, Zhou Yaxian looked at her cheerfully:
"Wen Han told you were coming today to start teaching Shaoyuan, so I didn’t pick him up. He’s been nagging constantly about when you would co to teach him again, my ears are almost callused. It’s good you’re back; it’s a relief to my ears."
Su Mu apologized with a smile:
"Sorry for the delay, I will make up for the missed classes as soon as possible, and thank you and your family for your understanding."
"You are being too formal. It’s not easy for Shaoyuan to find a teacher he understands, loves, and depends on, who also likes him. You are our good fortune," Zhou Yaxian smiled, "I won’t keep you any longer. You two go ahead and start the lesson. When dinner is ready, I’ll call you down."
Upstairs, the two looked through the books for a while, but Wen Shaoyuan seed distracted and not focused on the textbooks. Su Mu didn’t press him as she understood his feelings that day, so she closed the textbook, smiling at him:
"Are you not in the mood to study today?"
Wen Shaoyuan blinked, looking at her, "Sister Su, I know it’s not good, but having you back makes so happy that I can’t concentrate on studying. Can we just rest today, please? I promise to pay attention tomorrow."
Su Mu smiled, "Okay."
The two sat on the floor, and Su Mu helped him build Lego toys, asking casually:
"Has your grandma been staying ho with you lately?"
Wen Shaoyuan nodded:
"Since my birthday, she has rarely gone out. I heard dad say that grandma is getting ready to retire."
