Jiang Bei wasn’t unwilling to talk; there really wasn’t much to say. Over the years, she had so many pursuers they could form a squad, yet she wasn’t interested in any of them. Those she felt a slight interest in, disdained her busy work life, leaving her no personal ti at all.

Ji Nanfeng was another pursuer, but what set him apart was his shalessness, although the result was no different.

Su Mu was about to say sothing when a flashy car pulled into the yard. Su Mu recognized it as Ji Nanfeng’s and frowned slightly.

Jiang Bei saw it too but didn’t show any particular emotion. She sat on the sofa eating fruit, acting as if Ji Nanfeng didn’t exist.

When Ji Nanfeng entered the house carrying bags of things, his lack of surprise at seeing Jiang Bei, who shouldn’t have been there, made Su Mu certain that he had known she was there all along, perhaps soone in the house had told him.

Fu Shinian or Qiao Yu?

Ji Nanfeng’s gaze briefly lingered on the two before he went straight to the old lady’s room to greet her. He soon ca out and sat opposite them, smiling cheekily,

"Sister-in-law, you’re recovering nicely."

Su Mu hadn’t had any issues with Ji Nanfeng before, although he was sowhat troubleso, he never did anything to harm her. But now, perhaps because of what he heard just now, his image plumted in her eyes. His entanglents with other won were his own business, but now that Jiang Bei was involved, Su Mu naturally beca more guarded towards him.

Ji Nanfeng might have noticed Su Mu’s change in attitude but didn’t take it to heart. His gaze fixed on Jiang Bei’s face:

"Doctor Jiang, what a coincidence eting you everywhere. Don’t you think it’s fate?"

Jiang Bei snorted,

"What sin have I committed to deserve fate arranging a creeper to follow ?"

Ji Nanfeng: "Where’s the creeper? I’ll chase it away for you."

"Far in the horizon, close in front of the eyes."

Ji Nanfeng looked around:

"I see none, but I did see one in the yard before I entered. Should I go chase it off now? If you’re interested, we could have dog at tonight."

This was when Fu Shinian and Qiao Yu ca downstairs. They probably caught most of the conversation, or they wouldn’t have spoken up on An Le’s behalf:

"If you dare ss with An Le, I’ll stew you today."

Ji Nanfeng chuckled:

"Am I less than a dog now?"

Jiang Bei said, "You are worse than a dog."

Ji Nanfeng smoothly agreed,

"If becoming a dog ans you’d hold close, I’d gladly accept."

Qiao Yu frowned slightly and moved closer to sit next to him: "How did you get here?"

"Isn’t today the old lady’s birthday? I was planning to co with you, but when I went to the hospital and knew you ca to the old house after hearing the old lady was unwell, I followed."

Qiao Yu nodded and didn’t say much. He had intended to return to the hospital, but seeing Jiang Bei didn’t seem to be leaving anyti soon and would probably stay for dinner, he had to adapt.

The few of them sat in the living room discussing trivial matters. Maybe because Fu Shinian and Qiao Yu were present, Ji Nanfeng wasn’t as excessive as before. He mostly talked with them and rarely joked with Jiang Bei, but his eyes occasionally swept over her with a sense of aggression and possession.

Jiang Bei remained calm, while Su Mu constantly worried that she’d be at a disadvantage.

The old lady didn’t join the young people for the al, and Su Shiyue also felt out of place without a spot at the table, so she took her al to the old lady’s room to accompany her grandmother.

The five people at the table each had their own thoughts, making the atmosphere sowhat heavy, but no one complained or cared.

After dinner, Qiao Yu had to return to the hospital and asked Jiang Bei,

"Are you on duty today?"

Jiang Bei nodded, "Yes, it’s my shift today. Are you going back to the hospital?"

"Yes."

After stopping Jiang Bei, Ji Nanfeng began, "Doctor Jiang, let drive you back to the hospital. I’ve been feeling unwell recently and would like you to check on ."

Jiang Bei looked at Ji Nanfeng and chuckled lightly,

"I’m sorry, I drove here, so I don’t need a ride."

"Okay, then I’ll follow you."

Jiang Bei’s steps toward the door halted with Ji Nanfeng’s words. She turned around to look at him, her grace and smile gone. Su Mu could see she was about to get angry, but he didn’t try to stop her, because in his eyes, Ji Nanfeng truly didn’t deserve Jiang Bei.

"Ji Nanfeng, I can’t stop you from acting like a dog, but don’t act like mine. I can’t afford it, nor can I handle it. I can rember the first ti you appeared before just by closing my eyes. Where do you get the confidence to think I would want a playboy who loiters in gardens? Or do you think I only deserve soone like you?"

At this point, Ji Nanfeng should have felt embarrassed, but he didn’t. Watching Jiang Bei, his expression remained calm and composed:

"Doctor Jiang, you haven’t tried it, how do you know I’m not the best fit for you? Maybe being with will make this wanderer turn around?"

Standing nearby, Su Mu couldn’t help but speak:

"Ji Nanfeng, Xiaobei doesn’t like you, and her rejection is clear. You’re not short of won, why keep pestering her? Xiaobei and Qiao Yu work at the sa hospital. Making a scene wouldn’t look good on anyone, why cause such trouble?"

Ji Nanfeng laughed lightly:

"Shinian initially didn’t like you either, didn’t you end up marrying her?"

"You..."

Fu Shinian frowned and spoke, "It’s getting late, we should leave. I’m out of energy to continue hosting you all."

Ji Nanfeng raised his eyebrows:

"When Doctor Jiang leaves, I’ll leave."

Qiao Yu had been silent the whole ti, and after glancing at Ji Nanfeng, he left without a word, followed closely by Jiang Bei. Fu Shinian, however, patted Ji Nanfeng on the shoulder. Ji Nanfeng stopped and looked at him:

"Sothing to say?"

"A few words."

Ji Nanfeng smiled and didn’t continue walking.

Outside, Su Mu saw Jiang Bei to her car. Jiang Bei, noticing her worried expression, couldn’t take it and opened her arms for a hug:

"Enough, you don’t need to worry about . After all these years, when have you seen at a disadvantage? I don’t regard Ji Nanfeng highly. Right now, you should worry about yourself. Tonight you can’t avoid being in the sa room with Fu Shinian, you better think about how to handle it."

"You don’t need to worry about ."

Jiang Bei smiled:

"If you don’t need to worry, then there’s even less for to be worried about."

Su Mu smiled, "Be careful on the road, call if you need anything."

"Sure."

After Jiang Bei drove away and Qiao Yu had left, Su Mu turned to go back inside when Ji Nanfeng, having just finished speaking with Fu Shinian, ca out of the house. Seeing Su Mu’s defensive expression, he couldn’t help but laugh:

"You and Jiang Bei are good friends, Shinian and I are good brothers. Each of us being together, isn’t that nice?"
