Because it involved Fu Shinian, Director Zhang also got a fright and turned to look at Jiang Bei. Just as he was about to ask what was going on, Qiao Yu heard the news and hurried over, preventing a misunderstanding from escalating:

"It’s a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding. Doctor Jiang is Mr. Fu’s friend, just cracking a couple of jokes."

Qiao Yu’s relationship with Fu Shinian was almost universally known in the hospital, and although the matter was serious, Director Zhang still felt concerned: "Doctor Qiao, are you sure Mr. Fu is alright?"

"What could possibly happen, would I harm Shinian?"

Director Zhang nodded, feeling relieved. He was about to scold Jiang Bei but thinking of Qiao Yu’s recent remark—that Doctor Jiang was also Mr. Fu’s friend—he swallowed his words. After all, he too relied on the Fu family for his livelihood. Still, he couldn’t help but think that the more relatives and friends of the Fu family he got to know, the harder his job seed to beco.

After sending Director Zhang away, Song Yi’s gaze at Jiang Bei remained unchanged, still cautious. Qiao Yu noticed and gave a faint smile, looking at Jiang Bei:

"Why are you making such jokes for no reason?"

"Who said I’m joking?" Jiang Bei retorted, not willing to back down: "I’ve wanted to get rid of Fu Shinian for more than a day or two."

Song Yi: "Doctor Qiao, are you sure she’s really Mr. Fu’s friend?"

Qiao Yu nodded, affirming:

"Yes, not only is she Mr. Fu’s friend, but she’s also Su Mu’s best friend."

With Qiao Yu’s explanation, Song Yi felt relieved, considering Mr. Fu’s... well, feelings for Su Mu. In Song Yi’s opinion, if Su Mu’s friend acted this way towards Shinian, it was perfectly understandable.

In the early morning, Fu Shinian had been moved to the VIP ward on the top floor. Qiao Yu stood guard for a while then hurried to the ergency departnt to find Jiang Bei before the shift change. Jiang Bei was smart and, upon seeing Qiao Yu, imdiately knew what he was up to, raising her hand to stop him:

"Stop, I’m not going to tell Su Mu about Fu Shinian’s condition. Her health has improved a lot, but she’s not fully recovered yet. I can’t worry her with this."

Qiao Yu smiled:

"So you know Su Mu would be worried, right? That ans you’re aware that Shinian’s place in her heart hasn’t changed due to past events. They need to lay everything out and talk face to face, don’t you think this could be an opportunity?"

"I don’t see it that way." Jiang Bei casually glanced over Qiao Yu: "If you can find Su Mu, you go talk to her yourself. I absolutely won’t tell her. To , Fu Shinian deserves this as karma. He should’ve faced such punishnt a long ti ago."

Qiao Yu wanted to say more, but soone from the nurse station called Jiang Bei away. There was nothing he could do, so he had to head back. On the way to the ward, he tried calling Su Mu, but predictably, the phone was turned off. Ever since she left Bishui Yuntian, Qiao Yu had not been able to contact Su Mu again.

Back in the ward, Song Yi had already lain down on the sofa and fallen asleep, but he imdiately woke up as Qiao Yu entered, rubbing his bleary eyes and giving a greeting:

"Doctor Qiao."

"You’ve been busy all night; go get so rest first. Later, I’ll have Auntie Lin co over to take care of things."

Song Yi still glanced at Fu Shinian lying on the hospital bed, not completely reassured:

"I’d better wait until Auntie Lin arrives before I go back. It’s not safe for Mr. Fu to be unattended."

"Are you worried Doctor Jiang might do sothing underhanded?" Qiao Yu chuckled: "Don’t worry, she won’t. She’s a doctor."

Song Yi briefly smiled:

"If Madam and Mr. Fu were fine, they would’ve probably rushed over anxiously by now."

Qiao Yu heard this but said nothing, while Song Yi had a question to ask Qiao Yu, "Doctor Qiao, do you think if I secretly tell Madam about Mr. Fu’s illness, will she co? Will Mr. Fu get angry?"

Qiao Yu raised an eyebrow at him, "Do you know where Su Mu is?"

——

Before his shift ended, Qiao Yu called Ji Nanfeng to inform him about Fu Shinian’s situation and also sent a ssage to Auntie Lin to co to the hospital, but he himself drove straight to the address Song Yi had given him. Although it was hard to find, he eventually found it; the place was indeed a feast for the eyes. Sadly, Su Mu was not there.

Auntie Yang, on the other hand, hadn’t left but also didn’t dare to let Qiao Yu in because Wei Shaoqin had instructed her not to let any strangers in, and to call him or the police if necessary. Auntie Yang had thought about calling Wei Shaoqin, but seeing Qiao Yu’s kind and benevolent appearance, especially since his business card stated he was a doctor, she inexplicably let her guard down.

Qiao Yu waited outside the Glass House for nearly an hour and was almost numb from the cold when Auntie Yang finally softened and ushered him inside, pouring him a cup of hot water:

"Miss Su has gone to the forest to take photos, she might take a while to return."

Qiao Yu smiled:

"Thank you for letting in to wait."

"I’m letting you in at the risk of being fired."

"I know." Qiao Yu smiled faintly: "I assure you I won’t bring any harm to Su Mu or you. I just want to speak with her for a few monts."

Auntie Yang didn’t say anything further and left on her own, Qiao Yu drank the hot water and felt his body warm up a bit; only then did he feel in the mood to take a good look at the Glass House. He had to admit, Wei Shaoqin’s feelings for Su Mu were quite sincere; not just for convalescence, even he, a physically fit person, would love to live in such an environnt.

The rare serenity allowed one to relax completely.

Having stayed up all night, plus the environnt being so relaxing, Qiao Yu couldn’t help but fall asleep on the sofa. By the ti he woke up, two hours had passed, the house was still quiet, but there was an additional blanket on him.

Qiao Yu was moved by Auntie Yang’s kindness, but as he got up, he imdiately caught sight of Su Mu, who was standing at the floor-to-ceiling window, tending to the flowers. She was wearing a white cashre knit dress and fluffy shoes, her long hair cascading down her back gracefully; she was a picture of tranquil beauty.

Qiao Yu walked over to her and stood by her side:

"Why didn’t you wake up?"

Su Mu glanced at him and smiled gently, "You seed to be sleeping well, I didn’t want to disturb you. Did you work the night shift yesterday?"

"Yes."

Su Mu said nothing more but put down the watering can and invited Qiao Yu to sit down in the rattan chair next to her. She poured a cup of tea for Qiao Yu, who while sipping the tea and appreciating the view outside, couldn’t help but exclaim:

"This place really makes it easy for one to calm down."

Su Mu took a small sip of tea:

"You ca here, and it wasn’t Doctor Jiang who told you the place, was it?"
