Chapter 1016: Chapter 1016: I Don’t Mind Waiting a Little Longer

Mu Xue agreed, "That’s what I think too. After all, so many years have passed without knowing, and suddenly there’s an extra family mber. It’s definitely hard to accept right away, so you should stay with her for a while over there, and wait until the ti is right to tell her."

"Xue’er, thank you."

"Why are you thanking ? I’m your wife. Isn’t saying thank you a bit too formal? We’ve waited all these years. Anyway, now we know where she is. We don’t mind waiting a bit longer, right? We need to first figure out how she feels about it, otherwise, it might backfire."

"Hmm, I know." Ling Haoyu replied.

"Let’s stop here, Mom’s coming up. I’ll hang up for now. Call

if anything cos up."

"Alright."

After hanging up the phone, he picked up the prepared change of clothes and went into the bathroom. After showering, he lay on the bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.

It wasn’t until the early hours of the morning that he slowly fell asleep.

...

In a haze, Ye Xinluo saw a white expanse, wondering where she was. She looked around but saw nothing.

She walked forward for an unknown length of ti until a large bed suddenly appeared in her view. There was a baby lying on it, vaguely recognizable as a little girl, though her features weren’t clear.

Beside the bed stood a little boy, holding a lollipop, waving it in front of the little girl, who imdiately reached out to grab it.

"Be good, call

brother, and I’ll give it to you."

The girl babbled for a long ti but couldn’t manage the words.

Suddenly jolted awake from the dream, she realized her forehead was drenched in sweat, her body chillingly cold.

An arm pulled her into an embrace, and only then did she notice the room lights were fully on. Beichen Rui was holding her, comforting her over and over again.

"Had a nightmare? Don’t be afraid, I’m here!"

Ye Xinluo clutched tightly at his clothes, her shoulders trembling as though she’d dread of sothing terrifying, unable to co to senses for a long ti.

All he could do was patiently and gently comfort her, over and over.

It was a while before she snapped out of the earlier dream, "I just saw a little girl lying on a bed, about a year old, and next to her was a boy holding a lollipop, saying sothing..."

Before she could finish, a searing pain exploded in her head, and she curled up in his arms.

"My head hurts..." There was a hint of grievance in her voice.

Beichen Rui felt distressed, gently patting her back, "If you can’t rember, don’t force it. Otherwise, it’ll only make you feel worse!"

He finally managed to coax her back to sleep, then carefully got up and walked out onto the balcony. The night wind was cool against his skin.

He stood there for a long ti, until he was chilled to the bone, and then returned to the bedroom, gazing intently at her peaceful, sleeping form.

If he guessed correctly, the two children Xinluo ntioned were probably her and Ling Haoyu as kids...

However, she couldn’t recall what was said afterward, and whenever she tried to think about it, it seed to cause her pain.

He had a suspicion that before Ye Xinluo lost that mory, she might have suffered a head injury, leading to her lack of mory, rather than the self-protective amnesia of the body.

He considered taking her to the hospital for a full check-up but was afraid she might beco suspicious, so he dismissed the idea.

Because of this episode, Beichen Rui found himself unable to sleep. He turned off the light and lay on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling, until the first light of dawn erged. Eventually, he succumbed to fatigue and drifted off to sleep...
