Su Lu’s gaze lingered on Father Gu and Gu Mu for a mont before turning to Chen Yaxi.

"Yaxi, I’m leaving," Su Lu said.

Chen Yaxi nodded, "Yes, thank you for today."

"You don’t need to be polite with , these are all things I should do," Su Lu spoke, emphasizing her next words, "In those five years, thanks to Gu Xin’s care, I was able to co out of that aningless arranged marriage safely. Thus, both emotionally and logically, now that he is gone, I must take care of his widow."

Su Lu glanced at Father Gu and Gu Mu, noticing their already grim expressions turning even uglier.

Not minding much, she continued, "It doesn’t matter whether you are Chen Yaxi or soone else, being Gu Xin’s widow is enough. Rest assured, I will do my utmost to take care of you and Xiao Mo."

Having said this, Su Lu placed her hand on Chen Yaxi’s shoulder, "I will co again during Gu Xin’s funeral. Don’t worry about the custody and inheritance issues, my husband’s legal team will soon co to discuss with you."

Previously, when Chen Yaxi was scolded by Father Gu and Gu Mu, she had not cried.

But now she couldn’t help herself, pressing her eyes against Su Lu’s shoulder and softly sobbing.

Su Lu’s words had clearly stated her stance; she was entirely on Chen Yaxi’s side, refusing to sit by and watch her be bullied by the Gu Family as long as she was around.

Naturally, the faces of Father Gu and Gu Mu looked extrely ugly.

However, Su Lu no longer paid them any attention; with Bo Jingshen’s arm around her shoulder, he said, "Let’s go."

Bo Jingshen turned his head to give a few instructions to the bodyguards. With them around, at least they didn’t have to worry about Chen Yaxi’s safety. Given Chen Yaxi’s current state, she couldn’t endure any more turmoil. Without protection, any slight action from the Gu Family could break her down.

After leaving the Mourning Hall.

Only then did Su Lu finally take a deep breath, as if finally freed from that oppressive atmosphere.

After exhaling deeply, her eyes turned slightly red.

Seeing this, Bo Jingshen looked sowhat displeased. His brow furrowed and his cheeks tensed.

Despite knowing that the dead are most important, his voice couldn’t help but carry a trace of complaint, "You wouldn’t be thinking of crying for him, would you?"

How could Su Lu not hear the complaint in his voice? She felt a bit helpless, which washed away the sad emotions of before.

Su Lu sighed, "No, I haven’t shed tears. It’s just... I’m feeling wistful. He was fine and then suddenly gone. I don’t know if Gu Xin ever considered that after he was gone, his wife and child would be tornted like this... If he knew, would he regret not taking better care of his health..."

Bo Jingshen frowned and said, "There aren’t so many what-ifs. When a person dies, it’s like a light going out; when it’s gone, everything is gone, there are no what-ifs."

Cold as Bo Jingshen’s words were, sotis the coldest words are rely the truth.

He continued, "If we really have to speak of what-ifs, if sothing truly bad happens to Su Zhe this ti, no matter how sad you are, no matter how much it hurts to live, it would be useless, when it’s gone, it’s gone. Once soone is gone, nothing else matters."

Brutal but true.

Su Lu sighed and remained silent.

But Bo Jingshen was staring deeply into her eyes, speaking very seriously, "So, you must take very good care of your health."

Bo Jingshen looked into her eyes, "So can you imagine? Once in the operating room, I saw you hanging by a thread, saw you barely clinging to life. Can you understand how I felt then?"

"No, that won’t happen again. I’ll definitely be fine from now on," Su Lu said, embracing him.

"Alright, let’s go see Brother," Su Lu suggested.

However, Bo Jingshen didn’t quite agree and said, "After all, we just ca from the Mourning Hall. Let’s go back, take a shower, and then talk about visiting Su Zhe."

Su Lu didn’t initially understand why they needed to take a shower before visiting her brother.

But Bo Jingshen, a bit superstitious, explained to her that Su Zhe was already in a weakened state, and having just co from a place like the Mourning Hall could dampen his already faint spirit, which wouldn’t be good for his health.

Although Su Lu was touched that he was so concerned and thoughtful about Su Zhe, she chuckled at his superstition, "Since when have you beco so superstitious?" she asked him.

Bo Jingshen glanced at her and said casually, "Sotis, when people are desperate, they’re willing to believe in anything if it could be of any help. Be it God, Buddha, or Jade Emperor. They’d beg each of them if it ant finding sothing useful; they’d be imnsely grateful."

Su Lu knew Bo Jingshen was referring to the ti when she nearly died while giving birth on the operating table.

After they had reconciled, Bo Jingshen rarely spoke about these things.

After all, as long as they lived happily and focused on the present, there was no need to dwell on unpleasant past events.

Perhaps it was because these past few days, they had been constantly faced with life and death, which made him suddenly bring up the past.

Su Lu held his hand tightly, "Alright, let’s not think about that anymore. Let’s go take a bath. As you ntioned earlier, it wouldn’t be right to go back ho and risk bothering Xiao Le and my mom. How about we rent a room in a nearby hotel? A couples’ bath sounds nice?"

Bo Jingshen clicked his tongue, thinking only Su Lu could so easily lighten his mood.

He also tightened his grip on her hand and directed the driver to head to a nearby hotel.

After they had bathed, rested, and eaten,

Bo Jingshen received a call from the legal team. Since the discussion was about Chen Yaxi, Bo Jingshen turned on the speakerphone and placed the mobile on the table.

Continuing his task, he brewed a pot of warm brown sugar flower tea for Su Lu.

"Uh-huh, continue," Bo Jingshen said.

The legal team’s chief lawyer, Lawyer Ke, spoke, "Boss, if I may be frank, this case isn’t challenging."

"Oh?"

Lawyer Ke continued, "Ms. Chen and the late Mr. Gu were legally married. Whether by inheritance law or marital law, the late Mr. Gu’s assets and the custody of the children unquestionably belong to Ms. Chen."

"The way Father Gu and Gu Mu talk, it’s as though they think they can easily turn this whole situation around," Bo Jingshen comnted. "That’s why I asked you to handle it."

Lawyer Ke thought for a mont, "If Ms. Chen didn’t have the Boss supporting her, it’s indeed possible they could manipulate the situation sowhat. Even if they couldn’t completely turn it around, they could still make things difficult for her. But with us involved..."

Bo Jingshen asked, "No suspense?"

"No suspense," Lawyer Ke stated.

"Oh, then proceed."
