Wang Hao and Zhou Yingying stepped through the door and imdiately saw Ming Wei’s corpse lying on the floor, his face twisted beyond recognition. His eyes were wide open as if he had seen sothing extrely terrifying before his death.

There were no injuries on his body, and no signs of struggle at the scene, making it seem as if Ming Wei was literally scared to death.

And until his death, he still clutched tightly to a horrifying doll.

Wang Hao reached out to pull the doll from his hand, but it was gripped so firmly by Ming Wei that it wouldn’t budge.

Upon closer inspection of the doll, it indeed looked frightening—its head was turned backward, eyes bulging round, and it was stained with streaks of blood. Its limbs were gone, as if they had been forcefully torn off.

The torn-off arms were placed over Ming Wei’s chest, seemingly positioned there on purpose.

However, Wang Hao did not find any more dolls around him.

"You said there were many dolls, right?"

Wang Hao asked.

"Co with over here!"

Zhou Yingying led Wang Hao into a room. It was a concealed room with an old wardrobe tucked away in a corner.

As soon as they entered the room, Wang Hao slled sothing very strange, a bit like mildew mixed with a hint of rubber—just very odd.

Approaching the wardrobe, Zhou Yingying imdiately turned her back to it and began adjusting her breathing, as if she were quite afraid of it.

Wang Hao noticed that the wardrobe appeared to have been moved, revealing a small iron door through which only one person could pass. The strange sll was emanating from inside.

Entering, it was pitch black and nothing could be seen, but there was a switch on the wall beside the iron door. Wang Hao turned on the light, and the scene inside the small dark room was instantly visible.

Wang Hao was also instantaneously startled by the sight before him.

Shelves filled the small dark room on all sides, all cluttered with dolls of various sizes, many of them old and missing arms and legs.

Illuminated by the dim light, it did indeed look frightening.

And not just on the shelves around the room, even the floor was covered with such dolls, creating a very eerie atmosphere, as if this place were a graveyard for dolls.

Moreover, this secret chamber was airtight and perennially dark and damp, yet the strange moldy sll Wang Hao had first sensed did not seem to be emanating from these dolls.

For although the dolls looked very worn, they were dry to the touch.

Furthermore, these were not ordinary dolls; they were modeled after human figures, with adults and children, n and won.

But all these dolls shared a common feature—that of missing arms and legs; none were complete.

Recalling the strange aura he sensed from Ming Wei’s body the day before, Wang Hao wondered if there really could be a ghost at play here.

He then used the energy from the "Heart of the Dragon" within him to scan the entire room, but he found nothing out of the ordinary—a strange aura or shadow.

Other than the eerie dolls, everything else in the room seed quite normal.

"Have you seen enough?"

Zhou Yingying, sowhat overwheld by the oppressive atmosphere, began to urge from the outside.

"Yes, I’ll be right out,"

Wang Hao replied.

After Wang Hao left the room, Zhou Yingying remained silent, pulling Wang Hao by the hand straight out to the entrance of Ming Wei’s ho.

This was the first ti they had such close contact. Unexpectedly, the woman who seed fierce and unapproachable had hands that were as soft as water.

Being led so assertively by her, Wang Hao couldn’t help but wear a sly smile and took the liberty of caressing Zhou Yingying’s tender palm with his fingers.

"Hey, I thought you were a cop; aren’t you scared?"

Wang Hao found it amusing as he teased Zhou Yingying without eliciting any reaction from her, surprised that she, often heralded as a ’tigress’, could be fearful of such things.

"Wang Hao, do you believe that there really are ghosts and monsters in this world?"

Zhou Yingying didn’t respond to Wang Hao’s teasing, instead, she asked with a face full of tension.

"I believe, but I’m not afraid! You’re a police officer, you’re not telling you’re scared, are you?"

Wang Hao just wanted to joke with her, but he hadn’t expected Zhou Yingying’s face to turn instantly pale.

Seeing Zhou Yingying’s complexion grow increasingly worse, Wang Hao couldn’t help but let out a wry smile.

Here he was, a re civilian businessman unafraid of ghosts and gods, while Zhou Yingying, a police officer endowed with righteousness and carrying a pistol for protection, who wasn’t afraid of robbers and thieves, actually feared ghosts?

Wasn’t that a bit funny if said out loud?

"Have you ever heard of an ancient folk legend, where so people, who miss their deceased loved ones too much, try to communicate with spirits through dolls. However, so ghosts will attach to the dolls and never leave, bringing harm to others?"

Zhou Yingying managed to say as she swallowed her saliva.

"I haven’t heard of it, but such plots are quite common in television or novels!"

Wang Hao shook his head helplessly.

Yet Zhou Yingying was very certain that there were indeed ghosts and monsters in this world, and her complexion was becoming even more troubled.

"Don’t be afraid!"

Wang Hao suddenly embraced Zhou Yingying to comfort her.

"How many ghosts could there be in this world? Think about it, with so many dolls here, could there really be that many ghosts? The scene inside does look quite frightening at first glance."

"But if you analyze it closely, none of these dolls are complete. Could it be that soone deliberately damaged them? To find sothing?"

With Wang Hao’s explanation, Zhou Yingying suddenly felt not so scared anymore.

"You an to say sobody hid sothing inside these dolls, and then soone else ca along and destroyed the dolls to take what was inside?"

Zhou Yingying suddenly seed to realize.

"Yes, and think about it, why haven’t these dolls decayed in such a dark and damp environnt?"

Wang Hao continued to help with the analysis.

"The people who made these dolls, did they put desiccants and preservatives inside?"

Zhou Yingying’s thinking was finally returning to normal.

"Right, what you need to do now is to quickly investigate exactly what has been hidden inside these dolls,"

Wang Hao added.

"Drugs, it must be drugs!"

Following Wang Hao’s hints and analysis, Zhou Yingying finally overca her fear and was no longer afraid.

"That’s a possibility, but there’s no definitive evidence yet to prove that these dolls are being used to smuggle drugs. So, your task now is to quickly find the evidence,"

Wang Hao smiled satisfactorily.

However, this case posed a new challenge for Zhou Yingying, because there had been several similar cases before, and each ti the dolls were empty. The police also wanted to find so clues inside them, but there was no trace to be found.

But that was a matter for the police, and there was nothing Wang Hao could do to help.

Actually, Wang Hao suspected that this was more than just a simple drug trafficking case. If it was just ordinary drug smuggling, how could he explain the strange aura on Ming Wei’s body?

It’s just that Zhou Yingying had always been very afraid, and it had not been easy to pull her from her fear just now, so Wang Hao didn’t share his thoughts with her.

Just then, Wang Hao suddenly felt that there was a figure watching him from the shadows behind him...
