The five companions traveled together under the stars and moon, feeling constantly anxious and fearful. When they arrived at the county town near their hotown, they initially hoped to pass through as they had done before with travel docunts, only to find that the neighboring county was unusually strict in its inspections, with troops dispatched, frightening them into hiding in the nearby mountains, where they discovered this mountain path.

They feared the governnt office as well as the possibility of spirit monsters lurking in the mountains. But the five had no other choice but to risk traveling the mountain path, hoping to bypass the area. However, it rained halfway through, and during their arduous search for shelter, they discovered this broken temple and quickly took refuge inside. Originally, everyone was sowhat afraid, but upon arrival, a young master and his slave had already started a fire here, boosting their courage.

After all, being in a desolate wilderness, strength in numbers bolstered one’s courage.

Thinking about this, the person called Uncle Gazi by the young man glanced at the third campfire. The firelight flickered at the base of a pillar in the temple’s northwest corner, where a man in black sat cross-legged, leaning against the column, a sword laid horizontally on his knee. He sat as still as a mountain, exuding an impressive aura.

His attire seed quite fitting, looking like a ranger.

With such a person sharing the broken temple, Uncle Gazi felt sowhat relieved.

Just as he was thinking this,

"Woosh"

"Bang"

The crooked, half-open door of the broken temple was suddenly blown open by a strong wind, and a chill laden with raindrops gusted inside.

Then ca the sound of footsteps from outside.

Before the person arrived, the voice ca first.

"Damn it!"

A rough curse echoed inside.

Following that, a tall and burly figure appeared at the temple entrance, blocking most of the doorway, which was over a zhang high.

With the firelight illuminating him, they saw a man stride in.

This man had disheveled hair, tinged brown, with his tangled beard and mustache intertwined. His face was a dark ochre hue from years of exposure to the elents, with high cheekbones, a jaw like hard stone, and a scar about an inch long across his left cheek that bordered with a dark red hue, giving off an air of a rogue.

"Wow, didn’t expect so many people in this little temple." The man said upon entering, scanning a pair of slanted eyes over the few people inside before grinning.

With this grin, the scar tugged, revealing two rows of yellow teeth, adding a touch of fierceness.

The man wore short attire, had a tiger-like back, and a bear-like waist, with a thick hemp rope tied around the waist and a big blade slung over his shoulder, resembling a bandit.

Upon his appearance, Uncle Gazi and the five companions showed expressions of fear, while the ranger seated by the column’s eyelids fluttered but did not open, and the young master’s slave seed scared, hiding behind the young master.

Seeing their reactions, the newcor’s slanted eyes flashed with an amused smile, "In this deserted wilderness, I don’t know how many years this broken temple has been abandoned, but I’ve never seen so many people here. I guess you’re all here because the inspections in Zhi Shui County are severe, and you couldn’t enter the city or travel on the road, so you ca here," he said.

"Among you, so might be fugitives, so may be without proper records, and so might even be... Demons!" The burly man’s words seed to hold an enigmatic tone as he uttered the last two words.

With this claim out, the faces of the five n who escaped forced labor turned pale.

Strictly speaking, are they considered fugitives?

And among them, could there be Demons?

This...

The five were trembling with fear, their faces under the firelight as pale as gold paper. At this mont, the burly man laughed heartily,

"Look how frightened you are."

After saying this, the man carrying the blade walked directly to the nearest pillar, looked down with his slanted eyes at the ranger seated with a sword on his knee, smiling fiercely, and directly drove him away,

"Get lost, I’ve set my eyes on this spot. If you have any sense, get out of here."

His tone was extrely arrogant.

The black-clad man, approximately thirty years old, placed his hand on the sword and finally opened his eyes, a cold light flashing within them, "You’ve ssed with the wrong person!"

He spoke coldly, and imdiately afterward, "clang," the sound of tal scraping echoed as the long sword was unsheathed, its cold light piercing through the dim temple.

In the next mont.

"Clang"

The sound of tal clashing rang out.

It was clearly visible that the black-clad ranger had risen, thrusting his sword across the fire pit, directly aiming for the burly man’s throat, but the sword tip was t and blocked by the blade of a long knife.

The black-clad ranger opened his eyes wide, with a hint of surprise on his face.

But the next mont, the burly man unleashed a fierce grin, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth, and with a jolt of his long blade, he deflected the sword tip, then brought down his other hand through the air.

The air-shattering sound reverberated.

Then, the black-clad ranger’s body seed to take a heavy blow, flying backward, crashing hard into that weak pillar, the long sword in his hand unsteady, falling to the ground.

"Pfft"

The black-clad ranger spat out blood, his face turning extrely pale. He struggled to stand, looking through the firelight at the brawny man exuding an air of roguishness.

"Are you from the governnt office? Here to catch specifically."

The brawny man laughed upon hearing this. "Haha, you guessed right. There really is a fugitive."

"Go to hell!" The black-clad ranger had completely lost his previous cool deanor. Enraged and humiliated, he swung his sleeve. A handful of white powder spilled from his sleeve, spraying toward the brawny man a dozen feet away, accompanied by a sharp whistling sound.

The ranger threw the white powder and leaped, breaking through the collapsing roof in the chaos.

"Clang clang clang"

Amidst the white mist, several crisp collision sounds rang out.

Suddenly, a fla shot up from the white smoke, darting toward the direction where the man had just escaped.

"Bang"

"Ah"

A miserable scream followed.

Next, a large hole was smashed through the ruined temple’s roof, and the man from before plumted to the ground, unconscious, lying there like a puddle of mud.

However, he was still breathing.

At this mont, the white smoke dissipated, revealing the brawny man inhaling the smoke through his nose, while several broken willow leaf throwing knives lay scattered at his feet.

The brawny man looked at the black-clad man who had collapsed into a pile of mud, snorted coldly, and a flash of disdain flickered in his slanted eyes.

Damn, this guy pretended to be so mysterious, making think he was the target those adults were after.

Spitting, the brawny man turned sideways, addressing the five n who were preparing to escape through the door, and taunted;

"Don’t think of running, you’ll all die as soon as you step out that door."

"True gods above are angry, letting you go would doom . Follow my words, if you don’t want to die, sit down obediently."

After speaking, the brawny man’s eyes pierced through the firelight and the thick choking smoke of the dilapidated temple, looking toward the sickly young master and the wide-eyed, terrified, pure, lovely maid below the altar!

He pointed his long blade at the coughing young master who was covering his handkerchief, then paused, and slowly directed the tip of the blade toward the trembling maid behind the young master!

At that mont, the brawny man suddenly felt a chill crawl up his spine. He swung his long blade sharply, sending a beam of light cutting through the white mist and flas, aiming for the maid.

However, before the sword light could reach her, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his chest. The brawny man looked down to see a black tentacle had pierced through his chest, nacing and barbed.

A furious roar erupted from the brawny man. His body suddenly expanded, his skin bursting with green sharp bristles. In no ti, a giant demon wolf, four fathoms tall, transford and smashed through the ruined temple.

It turned out the brawny man was actually a Profound Body Demon!

The demon wolf, enduring imnse pain, fled toward the Black Mountain outside.

anwhile, black tentacles writhed out from the ruined temple, following closely behind.

In the dilapidated, unrecognizable corner of the ruined temple, five n watched in horror at the unfolding scene.

It turned out the brawny intruder was a demon himself.

But, what was the other creature that left them nearly panic-stricken?

Under the altar, the pure, lovely maid had transford into an utterly monstrous creature.

Her head remained beautiful, but her body rapidly sprouted nurous tentacles, reaching out toward the outside. As for the young master, he was rely an empty shell.

The terrifying, writhing tentacles lashed out like vines, rapidly shooting.

So even shot toward the five n, who were paralyzed with fear on the ground.

Just then, outside the temple in the rain curtain.

"Jingle jingle"

"Jingle jingle"

The clear sound of a bell rang out.

Amidst the rain curtain in the mountain forest, a golden light pierced the night.

Then outside the temple, a giant striped tiger, several fathoms tall, strolled in. Atop it sat a Green Armor warrior, cross-legged, behind whom three Mountain-cutting Banners flapped and roared in the wind and rain!
