"Wow"
"Who is this person?"
"How co I haven’t seen them inside the border?"
"Their Divine Qi is so restrained that even I can’t see through them. Not simple."
"The bounty is not sothing the average person dares to take. There are many from the Heavenly Pass present, but who dares to act? Except for that madman Gongsun Wuji, who’s been hunting demons all over outside the border. Seems like they indeed have so skill."
"...."
The arrival wore white clothes, with silver hair that shimred, glowing brilliantly as they flew like a rainbow, coming from outside the border.
Their gaze was like lightning, seeing the bustling scene below the city gate. With a sweep of the eyes and a concentrated gleam, they flew up, landing on the city wall to tear down the notice, then ignored the scrutinizing gazes, turned into a fleeting shadow, and quickly vanished from everyone’s sight.
The entire process was seamless, indescribably graceful and elegant, causing a low murmur of exclamation.
Soon after, they arrived at a network of wide and narrow alleys to the west, weaving through them, their black boots crunching on the thick layer of snow that had been swept aside.
At this mont, the alley was so quiet, their white attire blending seamlessly with the snowy surroundings, quickly disappearing around a corner.
Not long after, behind this alley, a figure clad in a brown patched cotton jacket, with hands tucked in their sleeves and breath visible in the cold air, was shuffling past, slightly hunched over.
"So cold."
"When will this ghostly weather ever end!"
Still grumbling and mumbling, the figure moved in tiny steps to the end of the alley, nearing the corner, when suddenly they stopped, inexplicably lifting their face from under the grey cloth hat.
Ordinary and unremarkable, their ears had frostbite sores oozing, appearing as just a regular traveler.
At this mont, the person’s ears under the hat twitched, hearing the crunching sound fading into the distance, then their eyes rolled around the connecting wall.
After a mont or two, the person moved again, advancing into the corner alley.
In the next second, the person’s pupils dilated in shock, seeing the white-clad figure standing right there at the corner, eyes glowing coldly at them.
"So cold, better hurry back to warm up!"
The person’s pupils and expression quickly returned to normal, lowering their head, hands tucked in their sleeves, muttering while jogging past the white-clad figure, pretending to rely pass by.
As they brushed past, a voice ca from the white-clad gentleman’s mouth, "Beast, you followed all the way from outside the border, even tricked the Demon Mirror at the city gate. It seems you do have so Taoist skill. Is the Devil Race so rampant now?"
This person’s body stiffened, looked around quickly, then turned their head, face full of confusion, "Master, who are you talking to?"
Just as Zhao Quanzhen turned his head, his gaze like lightning, his hand snapped towards the person’s shoulder lightning-fast.
Zhao Quanzhen firmly gripped the person’s shoulder.
"ji"
A sharp, strange cry echoed, a flash of yellow light flew out.
Yet the person was like a deflated balloon, leaving only their clothes behind, and within the escaping yellow light, surprisingly, was a Demon about ten feet tall.
Its long pointed ears bristled with brown spikes, its triangular green eyes flickered with treachery and ferocity.
"chi"
This demon, roughly the size of the Profound Body, bared its teeth at Zhao Quanzhen, then leaped forward, attempting to escape.
But then, with a thud, the demon seed to hit an invisible barrier, making a dull thump as it fell down directly.
This beast tried to flee in another direction, only to be repeatedly bounced back.
It instantly showed ferocious light, viciously pouncing towards Zhao Quanzhen, its entire body emitting a stinking odor that made one nauseous, closing the distance in an instant.
Just as its claws were rely three feet away, Zhao Quanzhen raised a finger towards it.
A muffled "poof" sound.
Instead of seeing the scene of flesh exploding, the demon simply burst into a dense, ink-like Demonic Qi, leaving only a pelt behind!
Zhao Quanzhen grabbed the fur into his hand, frowning, "A clone?"
A mont later, deep within this network of interconnected alleys, Zhao Quanzhen pushed open the gate of a simple square courtyard.
This courtyard was rudintary, built from piled stones, devoid of bright colors, with only a few patches of green overwheld by the wind and snow.
Just then, from the main house directly facing the courtyard gate, ca a creak as an old man wearing hemp garnts, with a rosy complexion, a crane-like hair and youthful face, walked out, smiling serenely at Zhao Quanzhen.
"Teacher!" Zhao Quanzhen hurried forward, respectfully performing a disciple’s salute in front of Ling Yunzi.
"The disciple has returned!"
His teacher Ling Yunzi nodded with a smile, "Good to have you back. During this training outside the border, did you gain any insights?"
Zhao Quanzhen’s eyes dimd with Divine Light, his tone lowered slightly, "Traveling south this ti, the disciple realized the horrifying sight written in the books of White Bone lying in the wild, and no crowing of cocks for a thousand miles. I have asured two thousand three hundred li with my feet, along the way, I can’t even rember how many demons I’ve slain, but in the end, the disciple beca fearful and couldn’t continue. At first, it didn’t seem much, but later, I felt oppressed and numb, and sensing sothing wrong with my state, I stopped and began to return."
Traveling southward outside the border, he witnessed countless human miseries and continuously wielded his sword to slay demons. From initial compassion to anger, to eventual numbness, repression, and even loneliness and fear.
Realizing sothing was amiss with his state, he chose to halt.
Zhao Quanzhen paused, his expression composed, "The disciple intends to return and listen to the teacher’s teachings, to resolve the confusion encountered along the way, rest briefly, and then set off again!"
