I finished the delicious dinner and got up, when I suddenly stopped on the way to the room and turned.
If I returned now, I would once more suffer through the torturous mories. I do not want that, so I walked toward the door.
"Patron, be careful. The city is not as peaceful as it looks," said the young girl from the counter. I nodded and walked out.
There are people on the street, but their numbers seem fewer than earlier.
Now their gait is hurried, and their eyes are filled with caution, as they fear soone might co out of the shadows and hurt them.
The city is small, but vibrant. Now, it had turned completely different.
I walked where my legs took ; I didn’t care about where I went. So, when a person suddenly appeared in front of on a dark road under a lamp, I was surprised.
"Give everything you have," said the man.
He is human and appears to be in his early thirties, with blond hair and green eyes.
He would have been handso. If not for his long nose and thin lips.
"I do not have anything for you," I replied, and walked away, but the next second. His knife touched my stomach, and he turned to with a grin and a clear killing intent.
My expression turned bad, not because of the knife, but the sll of cheap alcohol, its bad.
I am not really in the mood to sll it. I wanted to drink earlier, but once I begin, I might not stop. It is why I ca out here.
"Don’t make repeat myself. Give everything before I gut you like a fish," he threatened.
I didn’t say anything and kept looking at him. "What are you looking at, you bastard?" he asked and tried to press the knife deeper when he finally noticed.
He saw the knife he was holding turning into dust.
"What did you do? Who are you?" he asked. I didn’t answer and walked away. Soon, only the hilt of the knife remained, when he noticed sothing.
His finger begins to turn into dust. He scread and ca toward , but despite running, he found out he couldn’t catch up to , while more and more of his turned into dust.
Within seconds, his hand is gone, and the effect has moved into his body.
He started to beg, but I didn’t listen.
I was already in a bad mood, and I might have forgiven him for trying to loot by breaking a bone or two of his, but showing killing intent, he had crossed all the limits.
A minute later, the dust was the only thing that remained of him.
Soon, I appeared in the market area of the city, which is vibrant with people crowding the streets. There are bright lights and a clean street,
There are also guards, which makes it the safest location in the city.
Its why it is so crowded.
I strolled through it, looking at everything. It distracted , but the mories would still co in front of and give the pain.
I tried to push it away and looked around at the people. So are happy, so are sad; so are just enjoying the night with their loved ones.
Envy couldn’t help but fill my heart at the sight of them. I would sacrifice everything to spend ti like this with my family.
I will one day, but that day is not today.
Soon, I passed through the market and reached the city’s main square, where the city hall is. The old woman is there, having a eting with her people.
She is quite old; in a decade or two, she will die, unless she breaks through the sovereign.
Her chances are slim, and so are those of many Primary-III’s of the city. It’s not easy to reach Sovereign, especially in a place like this.
I listened to their conversation as I walked. It is about them planning a new area for practitioners and wealthy rchants to attract more of them to a city.
I got bored a few minutes later and stopped listening, looking at the other things.
An hour passed, and then another. The walk helped realise sothing.
My emotional state is not stable; that place had affected deeply. I cannot travel in this state; I need to stay in one place for a while.
Still staying idle will only make things worse. I need to do sothing that will help return to a normal emotional state.
I was thinking that when I realised. I had reached the inn; it’s pretty late. Only dim lights are on.
The young girl is still awake, reading the book; on magic veins no less. It is a little advanced, but not surprising. If I had my veins maturing late, I would have been trying to reach as many of them as possible, too.
She seed to finally sense and turned; I could see the relief appearing in her eyes.
"Patron, you have returned," she said with relief in her voice.
"Do you know a cheap place I could rent to open a clinic?" I asked. I don’t know why, I asked the girl, where I could easily look at every open room in the damn city.
"Are you a healer?" she asked with her eyes lighting up. "Barely one," I replied with a mirthless smile.
It is not acting, given how long it has been since I last practiced. I am feeling ashad to call myself a healer.
It is sothing I wanted to do during my journey. Find a secluded place where no one can find my trail and start practicing.
It is the only profession of mine that I couldn’t practice.
I could cook, forge, and craft, but I could not heal. I wanted to do that, even for a short ti.
"We have two small rooms behind the inn," she said before shaking her. "A healer should have a nice place; there are good rooms not far from here," she added.
"Back of the inn will do," I replied with a smile, and could see her eyes lighting up like a torch.
This place would be better, as I would be able to eat here daily. I cook well, but I don’t feel like doing it.
"I will talk to your mother tomorrow," I said to her and walked toward my room.
