In the streets of Los Angeles, two Jeagers strolled along the sidewalk, enjoying the cooking of street vendors. One was a black-suited young man, while the other was a crimson-haired girl.
Taking a bite from his burrito, Damien glanced at his partner and remarked. "I didn't expect that you could hide your demonic horns and tail. Quite useful."
Beside him, Hecate's crimson lips curved as she responded. "I wouldn't want people to stare at us as we enjoyed our day together."
"That would be unfortunate, don't you think?"
"Yeah, it would be troubleso." Damien nodded and continued munching on his burritos. "I'm planning to start the investigation with Echidna and Hawk."
"I already contacted them and found their location. Want to et them together?" The black-suited young man asked his partner.
Hecate stared at his obsidian-like eyes for a mont and shook her head. "I haven't been out of bed for so long. I want to enjoy the day a little bit longer."
"If the investigation is urgent, you should et up with our juniors. I'll catch up later." She smiled at her partner, while he nodded in understanding.
"Alright, suit yourself." Damien didn't relent, understanding her reasoning. She hadn't been healthy and awake since her return.
Besides, it was her first ti in Los Angeles. What better way to celebrate her treatnt than enjoying a warm day?
"The location is..." he whispered in her ear, which perked in instinct. Afterward, Hecate nodded and muttered. "I'll catch up."
Damien patted her head and smiled. "We will be waiting for you. After all, we have so infiltrators to catch."
Hecate's neck shrank for a bit as he continued ruffling the strands of her crimson hair. "Why are you patting ?"
"What? You don't like it?" He smiled and raised her eyebrows. "I can stop if you want to."
The crimson-haired girl could only grunt and turn her head away from him. "If you wanted to touch my head, I wouldn't stop you."
Damien chuckled and shook his head. He looked at her for a mont and inquired. "You have so cash with you, right?"
"I do..." Hecate nodded, earning his satisfied smile. He pinched her cheek and blinked away before she could retaliate.
The crimson-haired girl frowned and could only mumble to herself. "I'll make you pay for this favor, Damien."
She touched her crimson hair and soft, pale cheeks. "Why does that bastard keep touching these two? They don't seem to be that special."
"In any case, now that he's gone. Ti to take care of an annoying pest." Hecate shook her head as her crimson irises glead in amber.
She stepped into an alleyway devoid of the crowd that filled the streets of Los Angeles. Silence crept, perating from every dirty corner.
Behind, a shadow ford, and erging from it was a dhampir, the usual spies capable of penetrating deep within human societies.
Hecate glanced at the vampire and raised her eyebrows. A thought surfaced in her mind. Was a dhampir a hybrid?
Dhampirs weren't completely vampires, making them capable of walking in daylight, although weakened. At any rate, to think that the Clan would send such a pest.
"I expected soone stronger than an insect." Her voice was commanding and regal. Far different from the girl who pleasantly conversed with Damien.
The dhampir stood in silence and uttered. "The Patriarch wishes for your return, Hecate. You will always be a mber of the Clan."
Its tone was deep, echoing like the voice of an ethereal being. the
"I see... No wonder you didn't bother trying to take back when master got a hold of . You were relying on my bloodline."
"After all, you are the Progenitor of the Vampires. All co from your blood, so your control over them is absolute. But unfortunately..."
"I appear not to be in your dominion. Bloodline is but a false concept for ." Hecate tilted her head, amber eyes glowing with domination.
The dhampir narrowed its gaze and calmly uttered. "Humanity is not your ally. You will never beco one of them. Only the Clan can accept your existence."
"I don't consider myself an ally of humanity. I am but Hecate, the fourth mber of Block 7. The student of the strongest."
Hecate stated as though it were a matter of fact. For her, it was an identity, a badge she held with pride. No matter what others say or think, she didn't care.
"The White Devil..." The dhampir frowned, recalling the humiliating past in which the dominion of the Clan was thwarted by a group of animals.
It was much worse than anything they had gone through in the past. After all, the New World was supposed to be their sanctuary. Their paradise.
And it was...
All vampires, regardless of their rank in the Clan, could nourish themselves with blood and enjoy the facets of existence.
But those lambs, their flock, resisted and forced the vampires into the south of the New World. Like before Heaven's Fall, the species degenerated.
Those in the bottom beca wild monsters, a foolish and pitiful sight.
It was because of the White Devil, a black sheep amongst the weak herd. When she resisted, others followed. That human tarnished his na, regressed his race.
He would make her pay, punish her for the things she had done.
"She cannot be trusted with your power. Only I, your blood, can wield it." The dhampir spoke, its voice grandiose and deafening.
But Hecate rely shook her head and sighed. "A saddening sight for what is supposed to be the best of vampires."
"A fool... You're bidding yourself with ti, waiting for her to beco senile. After all, mortality is a trait of humanity."
"However... You underestimate my master's wisdom. Just as she held the sky of the New World, her students would do the sa."
"That is the dream of those within Block 7."
"There is nothing you can do about it. You can only watch and watch. Until everything is taken from you." Hecate's eyes turned golden.
"For a progenitor, you surely are such a disappointnt." Her lips curved into a smirk as the dhampir's gaze widened.
Before it could utter a single word, the entirety of its being disintegrated into nothingness. Not even a dust of its existence was left behind.
Such was the power of Severance.
Hecate stood in silence, not giving another glance at the nonexistent dhampir. The fact that the Progenitor of the Vampires made contact ant that the New World was unravelling.
Things were about to get exciting.
She turned her attention outside of the alleyway, where crowds of people sauntered with their lives, ignorant. There was one thing that those of the West Coast were proficient at.
And that was ignorance.
Information about the New World rarely entered the city despite its size rivalling that of New York. It was unthinkable, but those on the West Coast made it possible.
"Makes wonder how they keep their appearances up." Hecate smiled, her gaze peering beyond what others could see. "Well, I don't really have to do anything."
"The infiltrators will do everything for and untwist reality for what it is. I look forward to it." She walked out of the alleyway, her expression changing.
The crimson-haired girl looked around, trying to find another food vendor where she could taste her next culinary food.
What happened in the alleyway remained unknown to those from the Federation and even Block 7. But the sa couldn't be said of the Clan.
Deep beyond the southern frontiers was the land of the vampires. Its heaven was shrouded in dark clouds, forbidding even a ray of sunlight from warming the earth.
Regardless of whether it'd be day or night, vampires could roam the land unimpeded by the world.
In the center of the Clan's vast territory was the capital where the Progenitor of the Vampires dwelled. A gothic castle towered over the heavens, its cathedral piercing the skies.
An armored man rested in the gothic castle's central hall, lounging over the iron throne stained with blood. Behind the black armor was a handso and pale man.
His hair tinted in gold, eyes painted scarlet. He was as beautiful as one could get, seemingly unrivalled in the world.
But the most gorgeous roses tend to have all of the thorns the world could bestow. He was the sa, for he stood as the Progenitor of all Vampires.
When he closed his eyelids, the True Bloods kneeling before him felt their body tremble. They could feel the raging anger of their master, akin to the turbulent torrent of the deep ocean.
"The vessel has resisted my will... It appears that the Demonia has been awakened. Our piece beca a variable."
His words resounded throughout the central hall, booming with oppression and calm. The black clouds above appeared to rumble as one of the True Bloods gazed forward.
"I shall ensure the vessel's return, my Lord. I will not fail you." It was none other than the one who maintained the research facility holding the vessel.
Duke November.
