Chapter 400: 386, Of course, an uncle is closer than a stranger (1)_1

“Truly, nothing happened between us.” Mo Xiao turned to look at Jian Qing, now only just short of raising three fingers to swear.

Jian Qing was unruffled, speaking sarcastically, “She was calling you quite affectionately just a mont ago.”

“She’s not right in the head,” Mo Xiao said without hesitation.

“Pfft–” Han Yue couldn’t help but laugh.

Jian Qing and the others turned their eyes towards him, and Han Yue sheepishly smiled, “Just go on with your conversation, please.”

Mo Xiao stared intently at Jian Qing, the situation agonizing him intensely.

“If you still don’t believe , I’ll go beat her up right now,” he stated.

In a flash, he stood up, and the chill emanating from his body left no doubt he was about to pounce on Lola.

If it weren’t for her, his precious daughter wouldn’t have misunderstood him.

This was all her fault.

The strange expression on Quan Mingxuan’s face deepened as he watched Mo Xiao’s reaction.

Though ostensibly, An Zhe was Jian Qing’s uncle, he looked unusually worried about her opinion, apparently frightened that she’d be a little bit displeased.

Once Mo Xiao saw Jian Qing’s silence, he began to leave, but before he’d even taken a step away, a slender hand tugged on the corner of his clothes.

A spark of joy flickered across his face as he turned back to look at her.

Jian Qing casually withdrew her hand, speaking indifferently, “It’s fine. That woman is indeed not right in her head.”

Did this an she believed him now?

The chill in Mo Xiao’s eyes faded as he sat back next to her.

Han Yue glanced at Quan Jingwu. He saw that Jingwu hadn’t displayed any sign of jealousy throughout the conversation, and that surprised him a bit.

Has this notorious vinegar jar surprisingly not shown any jealousy?

“Jian Qing, you and Uncle An seem to have a good relationship,” he said, testing the waters.

At this, Mo Xiao secretly rejoiced.

That’s because he naturally wanted to have a good relationship with his daughter.

“After all, Uncle An is Jian Qing’s uncle, so of course, they’d be closer than outsiders,” Quan Mingxuan added.

Upon hearing the word ‘Uncle,’ Mo Xiao felt as though he’d been doused with a cold bucket of water.

Annoyance flashed in his eyes as he glared at Quan Mingxuan and impetuously began, “I’m not her uncle, I’m her…”

He choked on the words “father,” unable to utter them.

Both Han Yue and Quan Mingxuan had perplexed expressions on their faces, unable to comprehend Mo Xiao’s heightened emotions.

“Uncle An, are you okay?” Quan Mingxuan asked gently.

Mo Xiao glanced at Jian Qing’s passive expression and sighed in resignation.

“Nevermind.”

That’s fine. If she didn’t want others to know, he would not reveal their secret.

Han Yue and Quan Mingxuan unconsciously looked at Jian Qing, who was whispering with Quan Jingwu.

Jian Qing wasn’t oblivious to the confusion of Quan Mingxuan and Han Yue. However, now was not the right ti to discuss other things.

The door to the rest room was abruptly flung open causing everyone inside to jump.

Lola stord in with a gloomy look on her face. Seeing the wealthy woman sitting on the sofa, she couldn’t help but tear up.

“Mommy!”

The woman on the sofa was wearing an extravagant dress. The diamond jewelry adorning her could easily dazzle anyone. Her face bore a striking resemblance to Lola’s, yet she exuded a more mature charm.

Julie Durand, Lola’s mother.

Walking confidently in her high heels, Lola ran to her mother’s side and embraced her, crying silently.

Julie looked down at her crying daughter, her hand patting Lola’s back gently, “Lola, what happened?”

“Mommy, why did he treat

this way? I’ve rejected so many n’s advances for him. It’s painful to be humiliated in front of so many people because of a woman,” Lola cried.

Upon hearing this, Julie frowned and looked at the surrounding maids.

“You all may step out.”

“Yes.”

The maids exited, closing the door behind them.

“Lola, what happened?” Julie gently pushed Lola away, looking at her tear-streaked face. She felt a surge of anger.

“Did Mo Xiao bully you?”

“Mommy, it’s not him.” Even when Mo Xiao had always been cold towards her, Lola still chose to defend him.

“It’s that damned girl; it’s all her fault. Xiao even insulted

to my face in front of all those people because of her.”

“Damned girl?” Julie was taken aback.

“The sa bitch who slapped .” Lola spat venomously.

Julie instantly rembered the horrific slap mark on Lola’s face yesterday. It was only due to imdiate dical intervention and makeup that Lola was able to attend tonight’s banquet at all.

The jewel of the Durand family had been slapped by a naless girl. It was a great humiliation to their family.

If it was not because they had been busy preparing for this evening’s banquet since yesterday, she would have ordered her n to find that girl and parse her out.

“Lola, are you saying that girl is also here?”

“Yes.”

“Was she brought by Mo Xiao?”

Lola shook her head, a trace of jealousy flashing in her eyes, “She was brought by Quan Jingwu.”

“Quan Jingwu?” Julie was shocked.

Could it be the Quan Jingwu her husband was talking about?

Lola said resentfully, “The sa Quan Jingwu that daddy ntioned, that girl is his fiancée.”

“His fiancée?” Julie echoed.

Since their family had just arrived in Beijing, they were not too familiar with the situation here. The fact that Quan Jingwu already had a fiancé surprised her. Initially, she had plans to encourage Lola to get close to Quan Jingwu. Now it turned out that Quan Jingwu already had a fiancée.

Julie’s eyes lit up as she grasped Lola’s hands and said, “Lola, as your mother, I’ve told you many tis, stop being infatuated with Mo Xiao. You’ve been after him for years now, and he’s never shown any interest. Stop wasting your ti on him. Why not spend more ti around Chu Yihen or Quan Jingwu instead? They’re not any worse than Mo Xiao when it cos to status and background, especially Quan Jingwu.”

What did it matter if he had a fiancée? A naive girl was no match compared to her princess daughter, especially when Lola was of noble heritage. That girl was nothing at all.

“No!” Lola shook off her hand and lowly growled, “I only want Mo Xiao, I don’t care for anyone else.”

Although Quan Jingwu was attractive, she was always on edge around him, let alone getting close to him.

In this life, she was fixated only on Mo Xiao. Apart from him, she wouldn’t marry anybody else.

Julie’s expression darkened, “Lola!”

“Mommy, are you not on my side anymore?” Lola asked, biting her lip with tear-filled eyes.

She believed that if she acted pitiful, her mother would definitely soften. No matter what, she was determined to marry Mo Xiao.

As expected, Lola had won the bet.

Julie exhaled a long and helpless sigh, “Lola, you know your mother only wants what’s best for you. You’re already twenty-eight. Do you really plan to stay unmarried and beco an old maid?”

Although Mo Xiao was a catch in every respect, he showed absolutely no interest in her daughter. Despite her daughter’s countless overtures, he had never shown any hint of kindness towards her.
