Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Eccentric_1
“Sis, you haven’t answered my question.” Jian Luo lets Jian Qing ss up his hair, bending down compliantly without moving, his “sister-obsessed” traits clearly showing.
Jian Qing gazes contentedly at his head of hair, which now looks like a chicken coop. The untidy strands lend a touch of wildness to his gentle, handso face. She withdraws her hand to her side, “Well, I’m not sure yet, but you won’t have to wait long.”
Her ambiguous words make Jian Luo frown. Seeing that she clearly doesn’t intend to say more, he swallows the additional questions he had intended to ask.
Never mind, he doesn’t have to worry too much about his sister’s mischievous nature. After all, he hasn’t seen anyone who could take advantage of her, not even sly characters like Bai Jue and Black Jack. Even they would not dare to offend his sister. The people in Beijing surely can’t be worse than Bai Jue and Black Jack.
“Sis, when are you leaving?”
“Tomorrow.”
“Have you told Grandpa?”
“Not yet, co with
to tell him.”
With that, Jian Qing turns and heads towards the door, with Jian Luo following closely behind her.
“Tick–tock–tock.”
In the grand sitting room, the ticking of the pendulum is particularly clear, making the room seem even more empty.
Downstairs, there is not a single person in the sitting room. Jian Luo frowns. Wasn’t his grandpa usually sipping tea and reading the newspaper in here at this ti?
Just as he is about to go and find soone, an middle-aged man walks in. His sturdy build and steady steps imdiately give away his disciplined background.
“Miss, Young Master!”
Uncle Qin is a trusted confidant of Jian Qing. He helps manage the day-to-day affairs of the manor. Jian Qing and Jian Luo both grew up under his watch, and the siblings are quite close to him.
“Uncle Qin, where is Grandpa?” Jian Luo asks cheerfully.
“He’s in the study. He’s been waiting for both of you, hurry over,” Uncle Qin replies with his square face full of paternal affection.
Jian Qing nods, takes Jian Luo’s hand and they leave together.
The door to the study is not closed. Jian Luo slips in first, only to stop at the sound of a strong and amused voice.
“LuoLuo, what are you sneaking around for?”
Jian Luo halts, then struts in with exaggerated swagger. Looking at the figure seated on the sofa with its back to him, he raises an eyebrow.
“Grandpa, how did you know it was
who ca in?”
He hadn’t even seen him yet, but nad him directly. Why didn’t he assu it was his sister?
Do his sister and grandpa both have so kind of special ability?
Jian Qing folds the newspaper and casually places it aside. Looking at his grandson who just sat down across him, he can’t help but let out a hearty laugh, “Little Qingqing wouldn’t be as bored as you.”
No one else but him would keep playing this ga after being called out so many tis.
The elder man sits straight on the sofa in his plain Tang clothes. The defined features of his face hint at his handso youth. The wrinkles on his face mark the passage of ti. He wears a pair of glasses on his high cheekbones, giving him an air of kind gentleness and scholars’ elegance.
Who would ever think the kind and elegant old man before them was once the mafia boss who once rocked M country.
Jian Luo huffs, “Grandpa, you’re biased!”
Jian Qing laughs heartily, the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes involuntarily revealing themselves, “If I don’t favor Little Qingqing, who else should I favor?”
His Little Qingqing deserves to be cherished and adored.
Jian Qing, who has just entered, hears her grandpa and brother’s conversation, shakes her head and chuckles softly, calling gently, “Grandpa!”
“Little Qingqing, co sit over here.” Jian Qing pats the seat next to him, laughing kindly.
Jian Qing settles down beside Grandpa, crossing her legs, her body as soft as if it had no bones, comfortably nestled in the sofa.
Only in front of her grandpa would she show such defenseless behavior. Jian Luo smirks.
Perhaps reminded by sothing, Jian Qing looks at Jian Luo without leaving a trace. eting her grandpa’s gaze, Jian Luo shrugs helplessly.
He couldn’t do anything about it. If their grandpa couldn’t persuade her, he was dood.
Jian Qing snorts looking at Jian Luo, but in reality, he had expected this situation. He shifts his gaze to Jian Qing.
He sighs lightly, “Little Qingqing, take care of yourself in Beijing. If you feel aggrieved, tell Grandpa and I will back you up.”
Since he could not stop her, he would do everything in his power to protect her.
Yes, his sister is cuter this way.
