Chapter 1088: Shanshan Side Story (15)
February 14th, cut.
Just happened to be Valentine’s Day, and that Mu Chen brat was definitely deceiving his little padded coat.
Shanshan frowned, directly and bluntly rejecting, “Daddy, your taste is really bad.”
“Hahaha!”
With that, Jian Qing and his seventeen brothers burst out laughing.
In contrast, Quan Jingwu’s handso face turned as black as ink.
He angrily threw down the gift box and went back to play gas with his son.
All because of that Mu Chen brat, his little padded coat had hurt his heart over and over again.
Seventeen and nineteen laughed too crazily, which ant they were repeatedly annihilated several tis by Quan Jingwu while gaming.
After wrapping the gift, Shanshan imdiately ran back upstairs to put it away, planning to mail it the next day.
Far across the ocean
In a bright bedroom, a pleasant fragrance filled the air.
Opposite the bed, a large bookshelf caught the eye.
On the desk, piles of test papers ford a small hill, each one filled to the brim.
It didn’t take long after the knock sounded for Del to push the door and co in.
“Young Master.”
Mu Chen didn’t even look up, “What is it?”
“Young Master, there’s a package for you from overseas.” Del placed the parcel on the desk and whispered.
Hearing this, Mu Chen paused with his pen, then abruptly looked up.
He dropped the pen, grabbed the package, and couldn’t wait to tear it open.
Carefully he opened the gift box, and inside lay a beautifully crafted photo album, resting quietly.
Mu Chen picked up the album and began flipping through it, his expression intensely focused and reverent, examining each photo several tis before reluctantly moving to the next one.
Almost two years had passed without seeing her, and she had beco even more beautiful.
The one thing that hadn’t changed was her radiant smile, still as stunning and dazzling as ever.
Del stood by, occasionally glancing over with an almost imperceptible smile on his usually expressionless face.
The phone on the desk suddenly rang, pulling Mu Chen’s gaze away from the photos. Seeing the string of numbers, a touch of warmth flickered in his usually somber eyes.
“Mu Chen, did you get the gift I sent you?” On the phone, Shanshan’s voice was still full of vitality.
A light laugh escaped from the corner of his lips unconsciously. Mu Chen looked down at the photo of the girl, his eyes and brows filled with smiles.
Only in these monts did he feel truly alive.
“I got it, and I like it very much.”
Shanshan’s eyes crinkled with a smile as she propped her chin on the head of her teddy bear, “Mu Chen, what have you been up to lately?”
“Studying,” Mu Chen responded curtly.
Then, realizing his response was too brief, he asked in return, “What about you? Are you having fun in kindergarten?”
“Yeah,” Shanshan, hugging her teddy bear and lying back on the bed, replied, “It’s fun, but those kids are too childish. But this sester, Azhan is in my class, and he brings
fun and tasty stuff every day.”
“Who is Azhan?” Mu Chen frowned.
“That’s Uncle Bai’s son, Uncle Bai and my dad and mum are really good friends. I’ve played with Azhan since we were little, he’s a lot of fun,” Shanshan said with a smile.
On the other side, Mu Chen felt an alarm going off in his heart, as if soone had intruded into his territory.
“Do you like him a lot?”
Shanshan humd, “He’s my little brother, and also my good friend.”
“Between him and , who do you like more?” Mu Chen asked indifferently, though he had already pricked up his ears, quietly awaiting the little girl’s answer.
“I like both of you, you both are my good friends,” Shanshan replied innocently, not understanding why he would ask such a question.
To this answer, Mu Chen was visibly dissatisfied and his frown deepened even more.
Just as he was about to speak, Del suddenly made a gesture at him. Mu Chen nodded in acknowledgent, “Shanshan, a teacher is going to give
a lesson now, we’ll talk another ti when I’m free.”
“Oh, okay,” Shanshan responded mutely.
Before hanging up the phone, her voice turned soft and tender, “Mwah.”
Mu Chen couldn’t help but smile, then he hung up the phone, put the photo album back into the drawer, and hid the torn packages under the desk.
The next second, an old man pushed the door open and entered.
He didn’t knock; he just walked in without any warning.
“Patriarch!” Del bowed respectfully.
The old man, with his striking silver hair and a face full of wrinkles, had a tight expression. His slightly squinted, tiger-like eyes shone with a sharp light, exuding an imposing aura that inspired fear without him even being angry.
Mu Chen stood up and bent slightly, “Patriarch!”
Though they were grandfather and grandson, their relationship was as cold as ice.
The old man seed accustod to his form of address and nodded slightly, “I’ve heard from a few teachers that you’ve been performing well recently.”
Mu Chen’s gaze dropped slightly and he showed no emotional fluctuation to his words.
“I’ve arranged a few more teachers for you this sumr. You can’t fall behind in martial skills,” the old man stated in a tone that allowed no argunt, as if issuing an order to a subordinate.
Mu Chen, “I understand.”
The old man glanced at him, nodding in satisfaction.
“Also, I heard you had a fight with Yuanming a few days ago?”
Mu Chen responded coolly with a hum.
“I’ve told you not to cause trouble. Although Yuanming can be imperious, he’s still your cousin, and as his older cousin, you should be more generous and not quibble over every little thing with him,” the old man said.
Without inquiring into the details of the situation, the old man pinned all the bla on Mu Chen, his favoritism unabashed.
Mu Chen nodded still, “I understand.”
The old man swept his gaze over the mountain of test papers on the desk, then turned and left.
The door closed, and Mu Chen sat back down in his chair, his gaze calm. He picked up his pen and continued writing the test papers.
Del watched him pouring his efforts into his writing and couldn’t help feeling a pang of sympathy.
The family head had grown old and confused. Even though the young master was much more intelligent, he still favored his second son’s child. Del really felt it was unfair for the young master.
In the blink of an eye, Shanshan was nine years old. The little girl who used to bounce around had beco even more exquisite, but she had also beco naughtier.
Now, in Beijing, everyone knew that the Quan family had two little tyrants. Seventeen was sly and composed, always calm in any situation, and loved to play possum. In that regard, he was sowhat similar to Jian Qing. As for Nineteen, he was known to settle scores on the spot; anyone daring to pick a fight with him was sure to receive a harsh beating. In a few words, it was simply: don’t ss with , and I won’t ss with you; but if you do, I’ll make sure your mother won’t recognize you.
Since starting elentary school, the two brothers had been summoned by the school more than once, albeit each ti provoked by others. Outside, Quan Jingwu naturally protected his sons, but once they returned ho, the brothers were sent straight to the study to reflect on their actions and also had to do the dishes after als.
However, Quan Jingwu’s ironclad principles for his sons sohow turned into nothing when it ca to his little princess.
