Sisi returned to the main chamber and saw Jojo standing on the bed, shaking as he desperately called her na.
"Sisi! Sisi!"
"Calm down, Jojo," Sisi said as she sat on the bed and hugged the trembling boy. "Why are you awake? It’s still late at night."
"Mm, I slled sothing stinky, and then I couldn’t feel you around , Sisi..." Jojo muttered as he quickly nestled into Sisi’s embrace. "Where were you?"
"I was just outside, delivering punishnt to the evil woman who hurt you earlier," Sisi replied.
"Ah? The evil guy is a girl?"
"Mhm. It was Leah, my personal attendant," Sisi said. "She attacked us after your Daddy left, and she also tried to burn this room just now."
Jojo’s golden eyes widened as if they were about to pop out. He suddenly pulled away from Sisi and said, "Then we have to leave, Sisi! I don’t want you to get hurt!"
Sisi giggled. "It’s fine, Jojo. Her plan failed, and she’ll be executed tomorrow."
Jojo finally relaxed at that information. He returned to Sisi’s embrace and asked, "But Sisi, why did you pick an evil girl as your maid?"
"Because I wanted to teach your Daddy a lesson," Sisi replied. "But it’s unfortunate that he’s not here. So all my setups were for nothing when he couldn’t witness it firsthand."
"A... lesson?" Jojo tilted his head. "But Daddy is not a boy like , Sisi. He doesn’t need a lesson."
"Anyone can learn a lesson or two, even if they’re already an adult," Sisi said as she patted Jojo’s back. "Your Daddy doesn’t care about his inner palace. That’s why Vestor made a huge mistake by recomnding Ruela as a concubine—because your Daddy doesn’t care."
"Just like this, I picked an obviously ambitious maid to show him the extent of damage a re maid could cause inside the palace," Sisi explained. "Your Daddy needs to do better as a king, or else this dynasty won’t last another generation."
She doubted that Jojo fully understood what she ant.
But it was good to expose Jojo to this problem, because he had already been exposed to sches at such a young age.
It would be wise for Jojo to learn not to place blind trust in anyone in this palace.
And just as she expected, Jojo simply tilted his head, staring at Sisi blankly, clearly not understanding the explanation.
But the boy understood two things:
Daddy is not good.
And
Daddy needs to do better.
Jojo believed his father was the strongest—wasn’t that enough to be a king? His Daddy always said that strength was the most important thing in the world of beastn.
So why did he need to do better?
Jojo truly didn’t understand...
But if Sisi said so, then it must be true!
In the end, the boy made a ntal note, making sure to tell his father that he needed to be better so Sisi would like him.
"Alright, get back to sleep, Jojo. You still need rest to recover from your bruises."
"Mm, but you’re not allowed to leave. If you want to go, bring too!" Jojo said as he hugged Sisi’s neck tightly.
"Ack—you’re going to choke like this, Jojo," Sisi faked her reaction as if she was truly getting strangled.
"Ah—! S-sorry, Sisi, don’t die..."
Sisi laughed and hugged the boy as he drifted to sleep. "It’s ti to sleep. We’ll wait for your Daddy to return, okay?"
"Un!"
Sisi was truly exhausted after everything that had happened that day. It had been so long and draining that all she wanted was a good night’s rest.
She fell asleep quickly, sharing warmth with Jojo.
Unlike the pair of mother and son, soone else wasn’t so lucky.

Leah was shoved into a jail cell by a soldier. She was unusually docile after receiving her verdict, fully understanding that she had truly been defeated this ti.
"You’ll be hanged tomorrow morning in the capital square, so don’t try anything funny to escape, or your execution will be far worse than hanging," General Pell said sternly before leaving with his soldiers.
Two prison wardens stood guard at the entrance to the underground prison, leaving nothing to worry about.
Besides, what could a small woman like Leah do now that her fate had been sealed?
Leah slumped onto the ground, thinking about every decision that had led her to this cell.
Of course, she regretted everything—but not because she shouldn’t have planned to kill Sisi and Ruela.
She regretted it because she got caught.
Why should she regret her decision when she had wanted it in the first place?

Now, facing a death sentence, all Leah could think about was dragging Sisi and Ruela to hell with her.

The door to the underground prison creaked open, and a hooded figure stepped inside.
The figure stopped in front of Leah. Though intimidating, Leah had already given up on life, so she simply looked up and asked:
