"M-My King, Garou is a highly dedicated soldier!" Vestor pleaded. "He is a valuable asset to the kingdom. If you kill him, we will lose one of our strongest generals!"

Garou was indeed among the strongest despite his young age.

His tribe revered strength above all else, and ever since Kael had defeated him effortlessly, Garou had devoted his life to serving the Beast Kingdom.

He hadn’t done anything wrong while serving the king...

Until now.

"I’ll find another warrior in Roc Forest to replace him," Kael replied calmly. "You’re too narrow-minded if you think the Beast Kingdom will remain as it is forever. I will conquer more lands and expand our territory."

He rose from his throne.

"Soone like him is dispensable—especially when he refuses to obey my will," Kael said coldly. "I’m heading to the training grounds. Let’s hope that panther doesn’t flee with his tail between his legs."

"M-My King, you shouldn’t—"

Kael ignored him completely and left the throne room.

Vestor stood frozen as he knew Garou was in grave danger.

He had never wished such a fate upon his colleague, especially not upon an unmated young warrior who had a whole life ahead of him.

Garou idolized the Beast King. He admired Kael’s strength so deeply that he had devoted his entire life to the kingdom.

But that admiration had also beco a flaw.

Garou had placed the Beast King upon a pedestal, boxed him into an image of what a king should be and he thought that the Beast King would do no wrong. And when Kael failed to et that expectation, Garou voiced his defiance.

Garou was wrong for speaking out so recklessly.

But it was Vestor who had lit the spark of chaos in the court with a single careless suggestion.

’I won’t be able to rest if I don’t save that young man,’ Vestor thought desperately. ’I have to stop the King sohow.’

He knew Garou would submit instantly if Kael spared him, so it was best if Kael suddenly lost his appetite for bloodlust.

But Vestor wasn’t certain the King would show rcy, especially after Garou’s blatant disrespect.

As panic clawed at his chest, an image surfaced in his mind—

The harmonious pair of mother and son in the Queen’s courtyard, probably frolicking around in the garden.

If Mistress Sisi and the little prince intervened... surely Kael wouldn’t kill Garou, right?

Vestor felt a pang of sha at the thought. After accusing Sisi of bewitching the Beast King, how could he now beg for her help?

Yet he had never truly considered her an enemy.

He had only been suspicious, because it was unnatural for the Beast King to favor a human so easily, even went as far as making her a queen.

But for now, he would set aside his doubts for the sake of his colleague.

With determination, Vestor hurried toward the Queen’s courtyard.

"Sisi!"

Sisi lifted her head from her needlework as Jojo ran toward her, Grishaw following close behind.

"Sisi!" Jojo wrapped his arms around her waist.

"What are you doing here?" Sisi smiled and patted his head, then nodded to Grishaw, silently dismissing him.

Once they were alone in the pavilion, Sisi asked gently, "How’s your Daddy? Is he alright?"

"Un!" Jojo nodded eagerly. "He’s attending uhm... morning court! Daddy said it’s when he listens to his people!"

The boy rubbed his cheek on Sisi’s belly and added, "It sounds really boring, so I ca to find you instead!"

Sisi chuckled. "That’s fine. But when you’re older, you should attend morning court with your Daddy."

"But why?"

"Because you’ll be king soday," Sisi replied softly. "Your Daddy will grow old eventually, and you’ll take his place."

Jojo looked up at her, eyes wide and innocent.

"Then will you stay with when I beco king, Sisi?"

His tone was sweet, but his little mind was quietly scheming.

His father had promised to make Sisi queen. That ant she would beco his mother—whether she wanted to or not.

Sisi, anwhile, was relieved that Jojo seed to have forgotten what happened in the cave.

Perhaps he was still too young to dwell on it.

"That depends," she said with a gentle smile. "I’m not a beastman, Jojo. I don’t belong here. When you’re old enough, I plan to travel around Roc Forest... or maybe return to human lands."

"But why can’t you stay?" Jojo insisted. "If you don’t like sothing, I’ll tell Daddy! He’ll do anything for you!"

Sisi shook her head lightly. "Everything here is fine. But I never want to be tied to anyone—or any place."

She chose her words carefully in front of the sensitive boy.

She loved Jojo, but their situation wasn’t the sa as when they were alone in a broken cave.

Jojo was now the Crown Prince. One day, he would have a mate, children, and an entire kingdom to rule.

And she would beco a mory of the past, perhaps a nanny he once had that he recalled from ti to ti.

Jojo didn’t understand yet, but she needed to prepare him slowly, so he wouldn’t feel abandoned once she actually left.

"Mmm..." Jojo lowered his head, humming softly.

Her answer was difficult for him to accept.

If Sisi didn’t want to be tied down... then perhaps he would have to bind her himself.

For a brief mont, a faint glint of gold shimred in Jojo’s dark blue eyes—sothing ancient and unsettling beneath his innocent gaze.

’Daddy promised to make Sisi stay,’ he thought. ’So I will too... no matter what.’

"Jojo?"

"Yes?" He lifted his head instantly. The gold vanished, leaving only his harmless blue eyes as he smiled at her.

Sisi relaxed, believing he had accepted her words.

He seed more mature than she expected. Perhaps growing independent would be easier for him than she feared.

"Turn around," Sisi said, picking up a string. "I want to asure your shoulders."

"asure my shoulders?" Jojo asked, but he obeyed.

"Yes," she murmured, carefully asuring and committing the numbers to mory. "I’ll make sothing special for you."
