After Dante made fun of Netherius, the necromancer gazed at the reporters standing at a safe distance from them, recording everything while Tanya narrated on the microphone.

For a brief mont, Netherius was confused as to why there were two ordinary humans walking around his necropolis, but when he saw the cara, he smiled evilly and took a single step forward.

Dante and Asphodel stood between Netherius and the reporters. However, this made no difference, as the necromancer disappeared after taking a step and reappeared a second later, right before Tanya.

The warlock and the vampire widened their eyes in shock and quickly turned around, believing that Tanya and Dirk would get killed in an instant.

Nevertheless, as soon as Dante and Asphodel prepared themselves to attack, Netherius ordered them to stop, threatening to cut the reporters into pieces if they took a single step.

Both Tanya and Dirk were frozen in fear, unable to move a muscle from the pressure that the necromancer released from his body. Even so, Tanya's reporter instinct kicked in, prompting her to ask Netherius if she could interview him for her docuntary.

'Are you fucking serious!?' Dante and Asphodel thought in unison, standing still in their spots.

Netherius let out a deep chuckle and glared at Tanya, thinking that the woman could beco his second wife. Still, he wanted to use the opportunity to spread his ssage to the world and agreed to Tanya's request.

"So, uhh… Mr. Villain? Netherius…" Tanya stamred her words.

"Ugh, wait, hold on. Let do another take," she continued, and Dante could do nothing but cover his face in sha.

'These reporters have no sense of danger, huh?' The warlock thought.

*Ahem* "Anyway, Mr. Netherius. Thanks for agreeing to an interview with .

I wanted to ask you. What's the purpose for committing all these cris…?" Tanya said into the mic, holding it closer to the necromancer.

"Full domination, of course. I will make the people of this country evolve to the next phase and beco undead, giving them eternal life!" Netherius confidently replied.

"Let ask you, Miss. Are you not afraid of death?" he asked.

Tanya thought about her answer for a brief mont. "I think everyone is a little afraid of dying, but we still co to terms with the concept," she said.

"Exactly. Now, if you were an undead, you wouldn't have to worry about sothing as trifling as death.

Imagine hundreds of thousands of soldiers who keep getting back up after getting killed. It would be the strongest force in the world!" Netherius explained, seemingly excited about sharing his thoughts.

In the anti, Dante exchanged glances with Asphodel, and no words were needed between them to understand each other.

They were both prepared to jump on Netherius at any ti, but if they recklessly approached him, he would kill Dirk and Tanya in the blink of an eye. As a result, the pair decided to wait for the ridiculous interview to co to an end.

While Netherius spoke to the cara about his intentions, the ex-detective Alice and the vampire Claudia were finished exterminating a large group of undead people in a different district and destroying another source for the ichor.

The pair had been in the dark for so ti since all their communication was jamd, and with the options to return to the checkpoint or keep fighting, they chose the latter.

Suddenly, Claudia turned to the sky, sensing a couple of presences approaching them.

When she looked up, she noticed the harpion twins flying above the city in a strangely erratic manner, prompting Claudia to extrude her wings from her back and halt them.

As soon as Asher and Amara spotted the vampire hovering before them, their teary eyes shed more tears as they struggled to recount what had happened to them.

Alice saw them from the ground and waved at them. When they realized it was the ex-detective, who was one of Camille's best friends, the twins rushed to her side, hugged her, and cried in despair.

"What are you kids doing here alone?" Alice asked.

The woman knew that the harpion twins weren't ant to be underestimated, as she had seen them having combat practice with other mbers of the Jade Dragons. Still, she didn't agree with having them explore the necropolis by themselves.

"He-... He took her!" Amara said between her sobs.

Alice widened her eyes in shock and asked for details, prompting Asher to continue and shout that the evil necromancer had killed Saris and taken Cami with him.

"She was supposed to be at the checkpoint! How did Netherius get there when they were outside the range of his necropolis!?" Alice asked, agitated by the news.

The twins didn't know what to answer, and seeing that Alice was frustrated, Claudia stepped in and calmly asked for all of the details.

When they revealed that the NSS agents had betrayed them and made a deal with Netherius, Alice's anger only rose, making her body extrude an eerily overwhelming aura.

The ex-detective wasn't unfamiliar with treason, considering she had gone through a similar experience with her previous boss.

However, out of all the groups that could have betrayed them, she never expected the NSS to be the ones to act on it.

"Let's go back to the checkpoint… If the NSS made a deal with the necromancer, then we'll have to get the details from them," Alice muttered with a vengeful tone.

Unfortunately for them, the harpion twins weren't aware that there were two checkpoints—one to the north and the other to the south.

Camille had been kidnapped at the northern base, but Alice and Claudia knew only about the southern checkpoint, so they made their way there without a second thought.

To save ti, Claudia carried Alice in her arms as she flew above the city with the twins beside them.

As they got closer to the checkpoint, they spotted Laurent, Maya, and Madeline walking back to the base, prompting Claudia to call out to her siblings.

The trio looked quite beat up after their encounter with Udras and were planning on regrouping at the southern checkpoint. However, when Alice told them about the NSS' betrayal and Camille's kidnapping, Maya gritted her teeth with rage.

"Are they fucking stupid!? Do they think they can handle this ss without us!?" Maya pondered aloud, clutching her head in anger.

With determined expressions, the group decided to return to the southern checkpoint together, and their intentions were all but friendly.
