Chapter 311.1. Be Careful Of Traps

-Miu’s POV-

The loud blaring of tal alarms echoed through the tallic corridor, which was spacious enough for shipping containers to easily pass.

Red lamps installed on the walls rotated, signaling caution. Clanging tal sounds reverberated as individuals clad in dull, iron-colored full-body Western armor ran through the corridor.

The ceiling, floor, and walls were all without rust and glead as if they had been ticulously polished, while magic lights illuminated the passage.

There was a sowhat disheveled young man with faint bags under his eyes peeking discreetly from the shadows of the corridor.

He watched as those in full armor, running in formation, left him behind.

He is wearing a shabby black jersey, and his sneakers are worn out and need to get replaced.

“Looks like they’re gone.”

“Yeah, that was a close call. Heimdall’s [Clairvoyance] weren’t all that useful.”

The man’s na was Heimdall. He was a god with the power to protect the realm of the gods and see everything with his [Clairvoyance].

Though at the mont, he appeared to be an unhealthy-looking NEET, his original appearance was that of a handso NEET. In either case, he was still a NEET.

Neetdall, with an irritated expression, complained to the woman behind him.

“I saw the trap clearly. It was a pressure-sensitive bomb floor.”

“That was child’s play.”

Frigg lifted her flowing, beautiful golden hair, gazing at Heimdall with eyes that exuded a bewitching allure.

“You’re right, Frigg. I didn’t expect you to know about thief’s tricks, but it was undoubtedly useful. I’m impressed that you could disarm it so easily.”

Frigg, the one who criticized Heimdall, was the goddess of beauty and Odin’s wife. She wore a magic armor that resembled a dress, shining like platinum, and had a revolver-style gun holstered at her waist.

“And then, it was the biological sensor-triggered crossbow trap.”

“We could easily bypass that by using smoke and pretending to yawn.”

“True. That part went well. But then, it was the Mimic treasure chest.”

“It was an unnaturally placed chest in the corridor.”

“Supposedly, as long as you didn’t touch it, there shouldn’t have been a problem, but...”

Heimdall looked behind with a wary eye. There was a rather large wooden box reinforced with iron.

“Mimics usually carry valuable items, right?”

With a loud crash, the lid opened, and a gray-haired girl peeked her head out. The chest rattled violently, but the girl remained inside.

With fangs protruding from the lid and a flexible tongue that could break rocks like a whip, the girl remained unhard and kept her cool.

The girl’s na was Takano Miu. Despite being told to stay absolutely still, she followed along as a mischievous girl on the quest to explore the Floating Castle, clinging to Frigg-oneesan.

“Even though we know, we can’t resist opening it, right? Mimic traps are the trickiest; you’re bound to fall for them.”

“Well, yes, they certainly are tempting. They always drop dals or gems, so they’re better than your average treasure chest.”

The last mber of the group was a stunning young girl with platinum blonde hair neatly styled in a semi-long fashion.

Her aquamarine eyes gave her an appearance of delicateness that evoked a protective instinct and made her look adorable.

She wore sturdy, heavy silver armor, with a sword at her waist and a tower shield on her back. She was the goddess Freya, who guided Heroic Spirits.

“That’s right, young lady. Hurry up and defeat the Mimic. Moving around like a cardboard box isn’t recomnded.”

“I thought it might be an organ for creating gemstones inside the body, but it wasn’t. I guess I’ll defeat it. Here goes.”

Mimic flipped over as Mii-chan grabbed it and tried to smash it. Mii-chan fell off from Mimic with such force that it rolled away from her.

Mimic turned itself inside out, wagging its tongue like a tail and shivering.

“It’s surprisingly straightforward for a treasure chest.”

“Well, um, it seems it wants to join us.”

Although she had been ready to deliver the finishing blow, Freya hesitated. The Mimic’s lid was opening and closing in sync with her words. It seed to possess a fair amount of intelligence.

“Mimics are rare monsters... I wonder how they are in reality?”

“It’s true; they’re not your typical pop-up monsters. I rember having a hard ti recruiting them in gas.”

In response to Frigg-oneesan’s words, Mii-chan hesitated to attack. In a way, it did seem like a waste to defeat it.

Frigg-oneesan had likely chid in with the comnt about the gemstone generator organ in its body.

I prayed that she wouldn’t dissect it later. But for now, I decided to make it a companion.

“Freya, let’s make the Mimic our companion.”

“Understood. Then, [Contract].”

As a Holy Knight and a MonsterTar, this job was a straightforward task for Freya.

When Freya extended her hand toward the Mimic, a faint light enveloped it, and its appearance changed.

“Oh... it’s beco smaller.”

Mimic transford into a small box that could fit in soone’s palm. It was a white box reinforced with gold and silver, adorned with scattered gemstones, resembling a beautiful jewelry box.

“Indeed, it’s really small now. I’ll protect it. Hey, I wonder after we take these gemstones, can we restore them with recovery magic?”

In response to Frigg-oneesan’s radiant enthusiasm, the jewelry box leaped into the air and hastily perched on Freya’s shoulder.
