The class bell rang as Professor Moses walked into the classroom carrying a tal device shaped like a morning glory flower.

"Strange, Professor Moses didn't bring her spellbook today?"

"What's that thing in her hand? It looks so peculiar."

"Looks like sothing used in Mystical Smithing."

"Mystical Smithing? Aren't we supposed to be learning spells today?"

The students whispered among themselves, speculating about the purpose of the tal horn.

"Silence!" Professor Moses barked, placing the tal horn on the podium.

Luo Wei glanced at it once, then again.

How odd - with its large horn on top and iron box at the bottom, why did it resemble a phonograph from ancient tis?

Before she could ponder too long, Professor Moses spoke after the class had quieted down.

"Teaching you lot of dull-witted students is simply a waste of my breath."

"This is your Magic Language Assistant," she said, pointing to the tal horn on the desk. "Professor Temple improved it based on a sample provided by an anonymous magic apprentice. From now on, it will teach you spells in my place."

"Today we'll learn Earth Barrier and Earth Binding. These are more advanced than basic earth spells. If you have any questions after the lesson, you may ask ."

With that, she switched on the Magic Language Assistant, and clear recitation erged from the horn.

The students' eyes widened in amazent - the voice coming from it sounded exactly like Professor Moses's teaching voice!

Though there was slight distortion, this minor flaw was negligible compared to how remarkable the device was.

Luo Wei's scalp tingled. How was this possible? Hadn't she installed a self-destruct chanism in the simple phonograph she made last year?

Why had a phonograph appeared now?!

This technological advancent that had taken seven to eight hundred years of scientific accumulation in her previous world - would its premature appearance here overturn the course of this world's history?

At the podium, Professor Moses adjusted the phonograph again and had it start from the beginning: "Alright, repeat after it."

The students cleared their throats, excitedly watching their "Magic Language Assistant."

"Gus-cha-long-te-la-ke-ke-yi..." the "Assistant" began its dutiful work.

"Gus-cha-long-te-la-ke-ke-yi..."

"Gus-cha-long-te-la..."

For accomplished mages, such long incantations were unnecessary.

Take this earth spell for example - if Professor Moses were to demonstrate, she would only need to say "Earth Barrier" to complete it.

Mages were so proficient with spells that the incantations were deeply engraved in their minds. When casting, they only needed to give a small command for the spell to automatically surface in their consciousness.

But for magic apprentices, they not only easily forgot spells but also frequently confused different spell segnts. Combined with their limited mana storage, they could only rely on chanting to enhance their sensitivity to magical elents.

Once they could understand the aning of spells without ntal translation, the chanting ti could be shortened.

However, to unleash a spell's maximum power, it was still best to chant the complete incantation.

In gaming terms, it was like "channeling" an ultimate ability. The longer the channeling ti, the more powerful the ultimate would be.

Legend had it that when Aldrich slew the Western evil dragon Nidhogg, he stood atop a snowy mountain chanting for three full days.

After a morning of spell class, Luo Wei's mouth and tongue were parched from all the chanting.

Near the end of class, Professor Moses announced another matter.

At this ti every year, junior magic apprentices needed to start considering their career paths and confirm their profession with their supervising professor before the Magic Tournant began.

Since all magic apprentices would undergo field training during sumr break, the academy needed them to choose their professions early to allocate training tasks accordingly.

After class, students excitedly discussed which magical profession they would choose.

"Definitely mage - that's the mainstream choice!"

"A proper lady should naturally beco a mage. I don't want to get all grimy every day."

"I want to be a mage too - it's been my dream since childhood!"

Hearing the voices around them, Jane eagerly asked Luo Wei: "Darling, you're definitely choosing to be a mage too, right?"

Luo Wei nodded: "Unless sothing unexpected happens, I do want to beco a mage. What about you?"

"," Jane hesitated, "although I want to beco a mage, my elental affinity... I'm more suited to being an alchemist."

"Being an alchemist is great too! When you beco the Western Continent's top potion master in the future, I'll have to wait in line just to request potions from you."

"I'm not that amazing," Jane's cheeks flushed slightly, "becoming a potion master is even harder than becoming an archmage, you know?"

Luo Wei smiled warmly: "But I believe Jane will definitely succeed."

Jane linked arms with her: "Then I also wish for you to beco an archmage soon!"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
