"This is the tenth ti you have asked this since we arrived here. Nevertheless, I will repeat once more that you look gorgeous. Also, this is not your first ti eting her so I wonder why you are so nervous...,"
"What do you know!" Jasmine snapped as she concentrated her attention on him.
"This is the first ti you are going to introduce as your prospective wife so I need to look my best. Nothing can go wrong," Jasmine said her eyes glittering even more.
"Prospective wife? Didn't you say you didn't want to get married....,"
"I did but I don't recall saying that I never wanted to be your wife," Jasmine cut him short firmly. Jackson couldn't resist smiling when he heard her firm words.
"You trickster!" Jackson as he made to tap the top of her nose. They were too concentrated on each other to realise that they were not the only ones there.
All custors in the restaurant were fed with dog food as the gorgeously dressed couple continue acting lovey-dovey.
Three minutes more, the one they have been waiting for finally arrived.
Mrs Smith standing at the other side of the table on shifting her gaze away from her cell phone to stare at her son frowned when she saw Jasmine sitting beside him.
"Jacky, you never said we were gonna dine out with a stranger," Mrs Smith said as she directed her vicious glances at the once excited lady. Her dislike for Jasmine was as clear as crystal.
"Because I wanted it to be a surprise to you and mum, Jasmine isn't a stranger. She is your soon-to-be daughter-in-law...," Jackson was stunned when his mum turned and walked away before he could complete his words.
"I guess it was no use being so nervous. She doesn't like ," Jasmine muttered. Her once happy expression took a drastic turn. Jackson's chest tightened seeing how sad she has beco.
"Wait here, I will be back," Jackson tapped her hands gently before he stood up and headed outside.
Other custors talked while either staring or pointing at Jasmine. The sad Jasmine swallowed in her pains paying no attention to those who had no better things to do other than make a mockery of others.
Jackson reached his mum's car just when she was about to enter the car. He grabbed her right hand thereby preventing her from entering the black car.
"Mum, how could you be so heartless to do such a thing to a lady who looked forward to seeing you?....," Jackson asked angrily. No matter how hard he tried to control his emotions he couldn't hide it well especially after seeing Jasmine sad expression back then.
"You could have at least pretended to be ok even though not for the sake of saving her face but for the sake of your beloved son but no, you didn't do that. You didn't hesitate to embarrass her in front of everyone, how could you, mum?" Jackson asked in an emotional tone that portray how he feels right now.
"Mum, how would you have felt if I was the one treated that way by her parents, would you be happy...,"
"I don't like her, I thought I have made myself very clear about who I want as my daughter-in-law?" Mrs Smith asked not feeling any remorse for what she did.
"And mum I also recall saying that if it's not Jasmine I won't marry anyone else?" Jackson stated in a fierce tone. Everywhere went quiet after he spoke.
"Mum, since I was a child I have always thought very highly of you but you disappointed so much today. And I promise you that I will never regard you as my darling mother anymore if you leave like this, do you know why?" Jackson said to the total bewildernt of his mother. For a minute the once angry woman was too shocked to talk.
"Jacky... You would disregard as your mother because of that lady in there? What on earth did she give you to eat that made you turn out this way...,"
"Jasmine has nothing to do with this. As my mother, shouldn't you want to be happy so why are you hell-bent on separating from the one I love? Don't all mothers want their children to be happy?" Jackson asked in annoyance but he did not raise his voice at her.
"Mothers always want the best for their children and you are my mum right, so why are driving to my doom?" Jackson asked.
"Mum, I love you very much. I have always done everything you asked of since childhood but I am sorry to say that I won't do what you want this ti around. I will never leave Jasmine just because you don't see her as an ideal daughter-in-law. You can go ahead and leave like you wanted to, I won't stop you but I advise that you think about what I said because I wasn't joking when I said those words," Jackson said as he turned and left, not allowing her to utter a word.
Mrs Smith watched as her son left without sparing her another glance.
"You didn't get into a fight with her because of , did you?" Jasmine asked when Jackson returned to his forr seat.
"Don't worry about her and let's eat. She has seen you so we will take it that we have done the introduction so don't worry hmm," Jackson said as he passed her the cutlery. Although he was trying to act like he wasn't affected by what happened, Jasmine could tell that he was as hurt as she is.
"Are you ok?" Jasmine. asked in a concerned tone.
"Of course, I am fine and I would be even happier if you enjoy your al without thinking about what happened earlier," Jackson said as he urged her to eat. He scooped the food and brought the spoon close to her mouth. Before Jasmine opened her mouth to receive the food, they heard a dry cough coming from the other side of the table.
They raised their gaze at the sa ti to see who it was. Jackson's lips curled into a beautiful smile when he got a glimpse of the lady's face.
"Mum!" Jackson exclaid with a smile as he imdiately dropped back the scooped food on the plate.
