"Is this the place? Surround them."
The entrance to a VIP-exclusive underground casino was sealed off, and amidst fierce curses and skirmishes, nurous towering beastn with knuckle dusters and tattoos stord inside.
Several small shuttlecraft hovered in the sky, their searchlights scanning the area below to ensure no one slipped through or reinforcents arrived.
"So, this is the Ghost Face Gang's lair? I thought they were always on the move."
Not far from the scene, Alu Kulu observed the unfolding chaos from a tall building. This was on the outskirts of Zone 5 in the Central Star Domain, a relatively desolate area surrounded by factories and empty lots.
Standing beside her were several beastn, including a rabbit-eared girl with a singer's aura, a slender fox-eared man with sharp-angled eyes, and several brawny beastn. Not far from Alu Kulu were Alanna and a few mbers of the "Z" team, visibly uneasy.
Although this purple cat-eared songstress was ostensibly on their side, her influence and power were leagues above their own. It made them anxious, eager to curry favor with her, yet terrified of saying or doing the wrong thing and offending her.
"Lady Alu Kulu, though these guys are like sewer rats, they've gotten quite comfortable in the Central Star Domain's lavish environnt. Naturally, they wouldn't want to wander around like vagrants," the fox-eared man behind Alu Kulu bowed and spoke.
"After you gave the order, I had so trusted connections investigate their background. Turns out, the Ghost Face Gang has been doing dirty work for several major corporations in recent years, such as suppressing protesting complainants, extorting compensation from employees, and silencing unfavorable news reports."
"So, my previous attempts to crack down on them were actually good deeds, huh?" Alu Kulu blinked as she watched the sporadic explosions and fireworks in the distance.
"Precisely. Lady Alu Kulu is so clever and perceptive, always discerning these scoundrels' true nature and inadvertently improving the environnt of the Central Star Domain."
"Alright, alright. I know you're flattering , but it does sound nice to hear," Alu Kulu said with a casual flick of her imaginary tail, which, if she had one, would likely be wagging right now.
"Even if it's flattery, it's only fitting if the recipient deserves every word. The compassion and kindness radiating from Lady Alu Kulu are so dazzling, much like Vesper in the dark night, impossible to ignore. If I remained silent, it would betray my conscience. Please, Lady Alu Kulu, don't be modest—our praises co from the heart with not a shred of exaggeration."
Such sycophancy was truly masterful, and even though the other beastn around Alu Kulu found it grating, they couldn't refute his words. So even silently agreed with the fox-eared man when he included them in his closing statent.
"Hmm, you know, you do seem to have a point." Alu Kulu looked exceptionally pleased.
After watching the scene for a while, she gestured to the people behind her and said a few words. Before long, several chairs were brought up to the rooftop—they appeared to have just been looted from the Ghost Face Gang's lair.
"These chairs are pretty comfortable. You all should sit as well; this show will probably go on for a while."
She gestured for her companions to sit. Out of them, only the rabbit-eared girl, Dominica, and the fox-eared man took a seat. The others remained standing.
Inside the underground casino
The lights flickered erratically. In the corridors lay individuals donning ghost masks, their clothing varied. Many were unconscious, so with their masks ripped off, revealing bruised faces. tallic reverberations from steel pipes clashing echoed intermittently from afar, accompanied occasionally by curses and hurried footsteps.
Following the sounds deeper inside led to the underground central hall, originally used for gatherings, now split between two opposing factions.
"Who are you people? Why are you targeting our Ghost Face Gang?" A sunglasses-wearing man in a suit frowned at the beastn who had barged into the core area.
Most of the beastn across from him were over two ters tall. Even the smaller ones exuded a nacing aura, clearly dangerous individuals. Each of them was at least Sequence 5 in power—a lineup that would be difficult for even major corporations to assemble on short notice.
"Who are we? You still don't know who you've crossed, do you? Looks like your boss has already written you off as expendable," a gray wolf-eared man with a scar near the corner of his eye stepped forward from among the beastn, laughing loudly as he eyed the Ghost Face Gang's cornered core mbers.
Hearing this declaration, the man in sunglasses frowned but remained silent.
"Not talking? Don't worry, we'll have plenty of ways to make you spill the beans soon." The scarred wolf-eared beastman cracked his knuckles and tilted his head, signaling the others behind him. Without another word, the beastn surged forward again.
And so, after the brief ceasefire filled with tense dialogue, the battle resud.
Wielding their bracer rings and drawing long black-and-red swords, the Ghost Face Gang mbers charged with ferocious shouts. As they swung their fists, the bracer rings emitted powerful energy rings, enhancing their attacks and defense. Their enchanted black-and-red blades shimred ominously, their crimson edges striking a sharp contrast in the dimly lit casino, dangerously captivating.
But the beastn were well-prepared. So had physiques like steel, enduring the attacks unflinchingly and delivering devastating punches that shattered bones and sent their opponents to their knees. Others were agile and ghostly, slipping through the shadows to evade attacks, only to circle around and launch lethal backstabs, their claws ripping through the Ghost Face Gang mbers' torsos.
