In October 1254 of the Sixth Era, the trial regarding the attack on Songstress Hexia was convened in the Supre Court of Four-leaf Crystal.
This case, involving tens of millions of personnel and hundreds of major corporations, entered the first round of sentencing after six hours of presentation. The directors of the 11 corporations directly involved in plotting the attack received the maximum punishnt: 21 of them were sentenced to death, 48 to life imprisonnt, and 79 would face 20 to 40 years in prison. Besides these, among other interdiate participants, 37 were sentenced to death, 61 to life imprisonnt, and 189 to over 20 years of imprisonnt.
The assets of the 11 directly involved corporations were to be confiscated and later auctioned off, sold to other companies willing to take over. Other indirectly involved companies were to face hefty fines, be blacklisted, have their credit and ratings downgraded, and be barred from engaging in certain sensitive and critical industries.
This was just the first round of trials. Following the incident, the Stellar Domain Official received many whistleblowing letters and lawsuits directly accusing these hundreds of companies of various cris committed over the past century, including but not limited to tax evasion, illegal competition, defamation, persecution, monopoly, bribery, malicious suppression, and harming the innocent.
After receiving these letters and lawsuits, the law courts and Court of Judgnt stated they would screen and review each one thereafter. If the allegations were true, a second round of trials would be initiated.
Such a grand denunciation caused a huge stir on the Star Domain's internal network. To everyone's amazent, these once-glamorous brands collapsed overnight, revealing countless unheard-of scandals with irrefutable evidence—so of which withstood scrutiny.
The storm grew bigger and bigger, continually destroying and altering the original situation within the Star Domain.
With the fall of companies that had once dominated certain industry sectors, a vast market opened up. Seizing this gap, countless erging businesses began to catch up, competing with each other to take over these markets. In the new round of reshuffling, many overbearing terms previously set were improved. Official institutions, previously suppressed by corporate camps, gained a significant amount of freedom to act. Many industries' new standards began to be sorted out, taking this opportunity to address so of the past's chronic and grey-area issues.
In November, Governor Temachi announced in a public eting that over the next three years, the focus of the Star Domain governnt would be entirely on improving the internal political environnt, sorting out the past's chaos and malpractices, and fostering a more fair, transparent, and clean political atmosphere. All three Songstresses of the Star Domain expressed their support, joining hands in a promotional video.
By putting large companies on trial, eliminating stubborn past malpractices, revitalizing the market, and significantly improving public safety and the business environnt, combined with the endorsent of the Songstresses within the Star Domain, the approval rate for Governor Temachi climbed steadily, enhancing his prestige and allowing him to challenge the vested interests of the Conservative Faction and implent new policies forcefully.
For a ti, the Governor was on a roll. Finally free from the various restraints of the internal bureaucratic system and the Conservative Faction, he could flex his muscles. For an ambitious politician like him, this was the most exhilarating thing in life. At his level as a federal Executive Officer, wealth no longer held much aning or allure; the ability to shape the world according to his ideals unrestricted was a far more important pursuit.
Even among Star Domain Governors, there was a great disparity. Not every Star Domain Governor had the chance to experience such a rare opportunity that cos only once in hundreds of years: to suppress entrenched corporate camps, command high esteem in the Star Domain Council, and receive the support of Songstresses to bolster his standing among the common people, free from dia crises. Such chances to act without restraint often only occur during a historical transition and are sought after but hard to co by.
"The Governor sure has been making quite a few appearances lately."
Within a high tower at Edith Academy, a few people were gathering. Tilan was napping in a plush purple sofa to the side, Deloris was drinking tea, while Efnie had just shifted her gaze away from the news projection.
"He must be very excited and full of ambition," Deloris responded, setting down her teacup.
Now in her fourth year, the heiress's deanor had grown increasingly graceful and mature, shedding the last vestiges of greenness, exuding an air of easy confidence just by sitting there.
"It's like having a tangible goal and motivation can fill one with vitality," she said, tilting her head slightly and lightly touching her chin with her finger.
"You must have seen so officials too, Efnie. They're like deadwood when they just occupy their positions without rit. Devoid of vitality, they're murky in their pursuit of interests, calculating gains and losses, devoid of any grand vision."
"They may have power, but it's restricted power, dulling their ideas and aspirations, mired in short-term benefits and scheming, lacking any luster."
"Fortunately, this Mr. Governor still has so ideals and has also gained the freedom to pursue them, naturally wanting to do sothing to make a change."
"I know the kind of person you're talking about. I've t quite a few when I was younger," Efnie nodded slightly.
"That's why it's so remarkable. Officials like Governor Temachi who are both pleased and full of energy are quite rare."
"I'm not sure how much he can change, or whether his thods are correct, and that worries a bit. Even in the Federation, starting with good intentions doesn't necessarily lead to good outcos. There are too many variables in-between."
