Ran Yan felt she had a very long and tedious dream.

The dream was chaotic, countless images flooding in like waves; she felt like a small boat in the boundless ocean, bobbing up and down with the huge swells, dizzy to the point her vision blurred.

This sensation persisted, she wanted to vomit but her stomach was empty, making her very uncomfortable. Gradually, she felt pain all over her body, breathing beca difficult, and she gasped heavily, moaning in agony.

"Ayan, Ayan?"

As she gritted her teeth and persevered, she suddenly heard a comforting voice, deep and magnetic, brushing her heart like a feather, like... that night in the dense forest, when she heard it for the first ti.

She rembered that when he was filled with desire, his voice was the most alluring.

"Ayan."

Ran Yan listened to the calls, one after another, and suddenly fell into darkness; she could sense a bit of light, so she tried to open her eyes.

Even this simplest of movents felt like it drained all her energy.

Through her hazy vision, Ran Yan saw that familiar handso face, though now his beard was unkempt, making him look several years older.

"Ayan." Xiao Song’s eyes reddened in an instant, slightly swollen. He reached out to gently stroke Ran Yan’s face, "You’ve finally woken up. You don’t know how much the children have missed you."

The children, what about you? Have you missed ? Ran Yan wanted to ask, but she found it hard to speak and a wave of dizziness overca her, causing her to frown slightly.

As she felt discomfort, a warmth touched her forehead; it was Xiao Song placing a kiss there, as he often did.

"Sister-in-law, you’re awake?" Liu Qingsong ca in holding a bowl of ginseng soup, and upon seeing Ran Yan open her eyes, he quickly put down the bowl and asked anxiously, "Do you recognize ? Or do you feel any sensation in your body?"

After the dizziness passed, Ran Yan carefully recalled, wondering if she had hit her head before passing out. But then she imdiately thought of Liu Qingsong’s weird logic and chose to ignore him.

As for her body... it was so painful she almost wished to be rid of it, how could she not feel it?

"Don’t make noise," Xiao Song said coldly.

"Jiulang, look, Sister-in-law doesn’t even recognize , could she have amnesia?" Liu Qingsong lowered his voice, evidently worried.

Xiao Song looked towards Ran Yan and from her eyes, he was sure she had not lost her mory, thus he also ignored Liu Qingsong, smiling gently, "First, have so ginseng soup, and later I will have soone bring so porridge."

Ran Yan lay there, struggling to swallow the ginseng soup Xiao Song fed her.

As she drank, she fell into a drowsy sleep again.

Over the following six or seven days, although she could eat so liquid food, she was always in this condition. Xiao Song consulted many Imperial Physicians and learned that this was a normal occurrence due to excessive blood loss, which sowhat eased his mind.

Ran Yan couldn’t move or make a sound, but Xiao Song could guess her needs from her subtle expressions and told her stories when she was bored. The stories Xiao Song told were mostly of the sa type, exactly to Ran Yan’s taste.

Besides stories, Xiao Song occasionally discussed the situation at court with her.

Half a month later, Ran Yan’s minor injuries had all scabbed over, so already falling off; Xiao Song ordered craftsn to make a special reclining chair so she could finally return ho to convalesce.

During this ti, the case of the Crown Prince’s rebellion was basically settled under the unanimous decision of the Elders.

The Han King Li Yuanchang, Hou Junji, Li Anyan, Du He, and Zhao Jie, all involved in the rebellion, were sentenced to be beheaded, with their close relatives punished by association. However, considering Lady Zhao’s righteous act of denouncing her relative, the Du family was spared the death penalty, and Lady Zhao, for her poor guidance to her son, was demoted in imperial consort rank. Also, considering Hou Junji’s ritorious service to the Great Tang, special clency was granted to his wife and legitimate son, demoting them in imperial consort rank and stripping them of their official status, reduced to commoners and expelled from Chang’an.

Thus, the verdicts for all those involved in the rebellion were determined, only waiting for the execution. However, the charge against Li Chengqian was still a matter of endless debate; whenever Li Shimin inquired, the Elders would all say that according to the "Tang Code," he should be beheaded, arguing what logic would dictate... but no one dared to assert decisively that Li Chengqian had to be beheaded.

Xiao Song, owing to Ran Yan’s severe injury, managed to avoid getting involved in this storm.

In the Xiao residence.

Xiao Song held a bowl of pork bone soup, coaxing, "Ayan, take another sip."

"No more. You always say it’s the last bite, and then I’ll have to visit the lavatory frequently." Ran Yan frowned, her voice hoarse.

To Ran Yan’s dismay, Xiao Song insisted on personally attending to tasks like helping her go to the toilet; she valued through-thick-and-thin loyalty, but it was always awkward, also fearing the romantic appeal between a man and a woman might wear thin after a few days. Thus, drinking soup had already cast a shadow over her psyche.
